Any help?

So, recently I bought a Samsung Galaxy 551, unlocked from GumMobile for $350.

I figured the phone was going to be good, y'know? I wanted it because it had TouchWiz and it was Android, and it had a QWERTY board. Little did I know that the cons; 667 MHz Processor, 3.2 megapixel camera, 3.2 inch screen, programs randomly crashing all the time, low screen resolution, No 3G, etc. would out weigh what I saw as pros.

So I am wondering if I should upgrade to a Samsung Captivate later this year once my 2 year contract with AT&T has ended, and if it is worth it to upgrade to the captivate or to just wait until a better phone comes out? (Not the Infuse, that phone has to big of a screen lol.)

So any help?

depends on what you want in a phone, i wouldnt trade mine for an inspire but some people would, it all depends on what youre looking for. but in a few months there will be new phones out that are better than both

The captivate is a great phone, as long as you don't need GPS. I loved my captivate and my wife loves hers. Unfortunatuly I need GPS for work, so I got the Atrix. If the GPS would have worked, I would still have my Captivate.

Good point about GPS

Thanks! I don't really use GPS so I guess that wouldn't be much of a problem to me. :)

I guess each phone is different because my Captivate's GPS seems to work just fine after the official 2.2 update.

COOL, I in-v you; I wish the 3 on my plan (Mine, my wifes and mother-in-law's) worked. My wife and mother-in-law still have and absolutely love theirs. They don't need GPS, so it was no biggie. Plus I was just at Best Buy today and you can get a Captivate for like $25 w/contract upgrade; and even free at other places VS. $150+ for the brand new phones that really are not that much better.

Plus you have www.capfaq.com now what other phone has that much support :D

Thanks again for the advice, I headed over to Best Buy's site; they had the Captivate for $50 with a 2 year contract, which is a steal compared to what AT&T is offering it for with a 2 year contract. :D

When I first got my captivate, about a week after first release, I got an att corporate store to match walmarts price plus got a free body glove case and $18 credit for the upgrade fee. Can't hurt to ask right? Or call 611 from your phone and press the option to cancel service the customer retentions team would probably give you the phone for free.
