Flyers acquire Bryzgalov's rights from Phoenix - NHL.com - News

Wow. So much for the Yotes being competition in the west. Bryz carried that team a lot. This is surprising to say the least. Good move on Phillys end though. If this happens, the East better be afraid.

Wow that really sucks. There is chance that the Coyotes might move to Seattle which is where I live, so now that the Coyotes are not going to have a decent goalie they are probably going to get slaughtered by the Canucks. But I hope that Seattle gets Coyotes because it will be one of the biggest rivalries in the NHL with both teams only being a little over a couple hours away.

The Bruins just embarrassed the Canucks. 8-1 wow that was awesome. I think that the Bruins will take this in 6. Not only was Tim Thomas spectacular this game, but also the Bruins having Thorton back is another advantage. I only wish that the Bruins kept Seguin out there. Seguin really deserves to be out there and that is a dumb move on the B's part to take him out.

On a side note did anyone else see all the back and forth "hey bite my finger" between both teams? I thought it was hilarious and can't wait to see the next game which should be pretty intense.

Is it too late to join the discussion? :p Kind of hoping Boston takes the series since the Canucks had to go and beat the Sharks, who I was rooting for this year.

Yes, the 'finger baiting' has been pretty funny. And that hit by Thomas on Sedin in the crease while that puck was bouncing around??! That was a beauty!

Haha yea and did you see Thomas get into a little fight with Burrows tonight? That was awesome. But not as awesome as beating the Canucks 4-0 and making them pull Luongo. And I'm also glad Seguin played and that Thorton is back.

This is a good move and all for the Flyers, I do think they will get him signed and have Bob as the backup next season. Let Boucher go, then bury Leighton in the minors. I wish Boucher could stay, but unless they plan on having Bob go down the Phantoms and play almost all of the games, there is no room. This only leaves one problem, cap room. They were already up against the wall and once they sign Bryz, they are going to have some trouble filling out their roster. I just hope if they trade anyone, that it is Carter or Hartnell.
I am a pretty hardcore Flyers fan, but before anyone says anything, I fully expected the Flyers to lose to the Bruins this year. The way they were playing and the fact that they went to seven games against the Sabres, I just knew it was going to happen.

wow is right---and I thought Phoenix would be the upstart team in coming years but losing Bryzgalov may set those hopes back.

Good for the Flyers though. The Eastern conference is going to look interesting next year. ;-)

Oh, yes. I saw Thomas take his stick to Burrow's legs and thought he was being overly aggressive in a bone-head way. (I mean, come on, you've got a shut-out going, keep your cool). Then I saw the replay when Burrows knocked the stick out of his hand and thought, well there you go, he deserved it.

By the way, the penalty was called on Thomas but shouldn't it have been goalie interference on Burrows? Or was it because the puck wasn't in play, it doesn't count? I can't remember all the nuances with penalties these days.

Giving a penalty to Thomas would be questionable, but I don't think that the refs saw what Burrows did so that's why they didn't give him a penalty. I can't speak for Thomas, but maybe he wanted to show the Canucks that you can't just be pushing him around. And I think it was the first or second game in the series that Thomas was getting knocked into by Canucks players left and right so I'm sure after being ran into so many times that he was a little ticked off. Also after the 4-0 game Thomas stated that a couple of times during the game his stick was knocked out of his hands by a Canuck player on purpose which is another reason why he probably got pissed off.

Oh, I completely think Thomas was justified by giving Burrows 'a love tap' as he called it. I think Burrows degraded the spirit of the series anyways by the whole 'Bite-gate' incident-- I kept getting images of Mike Tyson in my head. As they say though, winning is the sweetest form of revenge and the Bruins did that by tying the series.

It'll be intense when the series goes back to Vancouver. I expect lots of hits and minutes in the penalty box tomorrow! :D

That was a close game. At least the next game is going to be played at the Bruins home ice so they can win and hopefully have that carry into the next game when they play the Canucks at their home rink.

It was close, felt like i was playing as my heart was going a mile a minute. lol

My prediction at the beginning of the Canucks / Bruins series was and still is in 6. Yes, our record in Boston is very low but, this is different. Winning in Boston will be the icing on the cake, winning at home will be just as good in a different way

Ahhhhh yea, my prediction was right, game 7 here we come. It's going to be interesting to see how the Canucks handle the goalie situation. They can either keep Luongo in net and run the risk of the Bruins getting a couple of quick goals which would allow them to get some much needed momentum in the Vancouver arena or they can have Schneider back in net who did a better job than Luongo tonight. It would be really tough decision considering if Schneider started it would mean he would be starting for his first time ever in the Stanley Cup Finals and that is a big deal for someone who hasn't played that much this year and lets not forget it will also be game 7. Also, having Luongo start might be a better decision since he bounced back from the other big losses in games 3 and 4 and is overall a better goalie than Schneider, but I wouldn't want to take any risks in game 7. It's going to be interesting to see what the Canucks decide on and a very exciting game.

I'm kind of surprised that last night Vigneault decided pretty soon after the game that he would start Luongo for game 7. Schneider has been better in net and I can't see how they could decide that quickly to put Luongo back in net.

Luongo will start, I don't see Schneider being in game 7 unless something like last night happens. It'll be a great finish to the season.

Boston fans: if you are in Vancouver to watch your team you are more than welcome into restaurants and public areas with your gear on.

Well that is exactly why I thought there would be more thought put into it by the Canucks coach. If Luongo allows what happened to him last night to happen to him tomorrow then the game is over for the Canucks. Having him get scored on a couple of times in the first period would give the Bruins the momentum they need for playing in the Vancouver rink and then even if you pulled Luo you are still having to put in Schnieder who has never started in a stanley cup final game let alone game 7. The fact that Luongo hasn't lost any games at home in this series doesn't cut it when all of them have been by one goal and he will be playing coming off of a big loss.

I agree with you. In fact teams like Vancouver and Boston have fantastic backup goalies; why not use them more to through the other teams play off a little. Just because they make the bigger $ doesn't mean that is the only goalie that should be used. I think it comes down to a mix of that and a little bit too much pride and not using other assets. Schneider was visibly more calm in net than Luongo last night.

I know many Vancouver fans that are pretty angry about the Canucks paying a lot of money for Luongo and for him to let in goals like he is a piece of swiss cheese in a stanley cup finals game where they could have won the cup. Also some of my friends who are Canucks fans say that Luongo has already collapsed under pressure twice and had to be pulled which is why they think Schneider should play who is one of the best rookie goalies in the league and seemed to do okay under pressure.

In my opinion I think Schnieder has the potential to be better than Luongo in the long run so I would keep Schnieder and play him more often in the regular season and make Luongo see that if he doesn't stay consistent he will not play. That first goal Luo let in last night was ridiculous, that kind of shot where someone is coming wide down the ice and shoots it like that should be stopped 99 of 100 times. The Canucks team is seriously stacked, I think Vigneault really needs to do something different. If you can't get the Sedins to get a couple of points during the finals and you don't do anything to fix that then I think the GM should talk to him.

There are so many variables and stats you can go back to this season. The only thing that matters now is who wins tomorrow. People can try and comfort themselves with 'whys' and 'what ifs' but, its all down to 1 game. Winner takes all.

Go Canucks Go!

I'll be the first to say it, Boston deserves this win. Vancouver needs 3 goals in one period to tie... still a glimmer of hope, don't think so.

Millionaires can have their fun on the golf course when they are done, i on the other hand will go back to study Linux. :)

These playoffs have been really emotionally draining for me. The past week and a bit, I found myself really on edge, so other than watching the games, I've tried to avoid anything hockey related.

It looks like the Bruins will win their first cup since '72. They were the better team and deserved the win. I offer my congratulations to them and their fans.

I'm moving on from hockey now. Onto Wimbledon.

Gracious fans! I feel bad for your city/province whatever. You guys need 1 under your belt! I saw the turnout outside the rink last game....

Congrats B's!
