The offerings from Motorola are limited due to the moto/Verizon agreement
Samsung deals to the highest bidder. Rightfully so both them and HTC now look fow all 4 carrier release. Bidding wars decide who gets to release first in some cases.
Sony and LG are just behind the curve and RIM has almost completely dissapeared
Build quality is still pretty poor on moto devices imo, and everyone I know that has one Hates them. And let's not forget locked bootloaders.
From what I have seen Sprint is sticking with the 3 major players...HTC Samsung and Apple. I think we will continue to see some mid and entry type devices from others in there from others such as LG, Moto, etc but not much.
Take the moto photon q. We don't currently have a slider, it fits that niche.
Definitely not a device for everyone but it has its place
And for those that mistakenly think Sprint is catering to Sammy, look again. Sammy is the only one pumping out 2-3 new device models every month.
I called that one last year. Flood the market with tons of device
options at every price point and what do you have?
No one but sheep to buy the next Iphone
I seriously thought motorola's exclusivity with verizon ended when att got the original atrix in january 2011? And if there's exclusivity for the razr line only, what's preventing motorola from doing the same exact thing they did with the atrix hd? Just doesn't make any sense to me. And I completely disagree about build quality. The Mopho is my first motorola after having mostly htc and samsung. It's by far the best build quality and ths customer support and responsiveness directly from motorola has been the best i've experienced too. In my time owning the mopho, i've gotten replacement back covers and replacement cables for my dock. And the phone specific accessories....kills all the other oem's. I could care less about the locked bootloader. Everytime i've considered rooting, i've never found a real reason I needed to root.
I personally feel there are other ways sprint could distinguish themselves from the others by choices on device offerings beyond what they're currently doing. They're #3.
Let's take the asus padfone. Can you imagine how much interest that would get, if sprint offered that in cdma/lte flavor, maybe even with world capabilities and unlocked sim for international use? That's a winner, imo.
How about take a chance offering huwaei products? They've been making lots of noise at electronics conventions.
They offer ZTE instead...wtf? Who the heck buys a zte phone and those that did, complained about build quality...lol
