Any new phone rumors for Sprint?

Here's the lastest rumor/release breakdown:

New Projection/Predictions:
4/22 - Galaxy Nexus and LG Viper
5/15 LTEvo (delayed due to Customs/Apple Injunction)
5/24 LTEvo (Phones finally reaching customers for soft pre-order release at Best Buy w/ Sprint pre-orders and other manufacturers trickling in afterwards)
6/2 - "Official" delayed LTEvo release date as announced by Sprint
6/21- SGS III (delay to 1st weekend of July)
7/1- "Official" delayed SGS III release date as announced by Sprint
7/15 - White LTEvo
8/5, 8/12, 8/19 - MoPhoQ (XT897) ???
9/2, 9/9, 9/16 - LG Cayenne (LS860) ???
- Putting this back in because the rumored specs don't really look like a "mid-range" phone and last week there was a report about it receiving wifi certification.

ZTE Warp - great call quality, battery life, snappy - very much like a new original Evo minus the front camera and WiMax. (S2 processor instead of S1 like the Evo)

Some in the Warp forum complained about build quality, etc, but I think that they had lemons, honestly.

Also - insanely easy to root.

Thanks, EM. I checked out the Warp forum, since it had the most activity out of all the ZTE sub-forums. Just wasn't sure if it was the best phone to check out, for comparison.

The Verge reviewed the ZTE Grand X and found it to be a decent mid-range phone. Big problems seemed to be poor build quality, middling camera, and a serious love affair with skin oil. But hey, near stock Android 4.0. :)

As an unknown in the States OEM, I would wait myself before buying a ZTE phone to see how things shake out for durability and long-term support. 'm starting to think though that we won't see a new LTE Nexus phone on Sprint before the year is over sadly.
 
The Warp on sale was only $160, no contract, Boost Mobile, and unlike other cheaper phones, isn't crippled.

If the new ZTE is a midlevel phone but with that sort of pricing, I am all for it.

Give people on a budget a break.

So far, there have been 4 officially released (with the Photon Q in the pipeline). 5 more phones that have been mentioned in rumor, bringing us to 10 phones. That leaves 4 more devices. I'd say there's likely to be a Windows Phone that'll be LTE enabled, but aside from that, maybe 3 tablets? Xoom, Galaxy Note 10.1, and HTC?

Along with the relatively unknown ZTE, there is also Huawei. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a Huawei offering on each of the 4 big U.S. carriers by the end of the year or next year.

Good call. I forgot about Huawei because they haven't made that many waves over here in the US, yet, but looking at some of their products from CES...I'd consider them as well.

These 'little guys' (ZTE, possibly Huawei) are easy to forget at this point, though they might be an important part of the goal of 15 LTE devices by the end of the year. I remember when Sprint put out that info I was scratching my head as to how they would achieve it. Now I can imagine it might be attainable with all the different little pieces. You've got a pretty good grip on it.

To listen to the cats in the Ascend forum, they couldn't be happier. Remember Jazziette from her Lounge thread on that?

Huawei has a LOT of manufacturing and political muscle.

As long as all of the superphones are out by December, so I can line them up and make a solid decision, I'll be happy.

This is so agonizing waiting!....LOL. The EVO and Photon were no brainers for me...but now, everything is looking great (well, save for the MoPho Q which serves my family member okay, but not me).

I seriously wish the ASUS padfone was one of the offerings. That thing is exactly what I'd want right now...LOL.

Yup. As of right now, only in GSM flavor and I doubt we see it being offered by any of the domestic providers.

Especially Sprint, with their ridiculous price structure for Tablet data. When I was considering the EVO View, last year, I seriously couldn't make any sense of it. I could pay 29.99 for unlimited wi-fi hotspot on my phone and have unlimited data use while connecting a tablet/cpu/whatever other device I wanted to connect to it...but if I bought a tablet w/ a 3g/4g radio, I'd have to pay more for a limited amount of data usage? SMH. I wonder how much Sprint actually thought through their tablet plan structure because I seriously think they were missing out on a golden opportunity to separate themselves from the competition.

Imagine if they took the approach where they said, "Tablet plans are only required if a customer does not have a 4G enabled phone with hotspot capabilities. If a customer has a 4G enabled phone with hotspot capabilities, in order for them to purchase the discounted rate of the tablet, they will be required to add the $29.99 hotspot feature." I'm sure that would appeal WAY more to the masses, as far as selling the tablets are concerned. Realistically, how many people would actually be using their 3G/4G enabled tablet, on the go, without their phone with them?

Okay, enough on my tangent rant regarding the tablet plans. Back to the fact that I'd LOVE to have the Asus Padfone on Sprint! That would be such a no-brainer for me...but alas, the wait continues for my decision.
 
I wonder...with Sprint's strong relationship with HTC, could HTC's 5 inch+ phone offering make it to the Now Network?

If that thing had a kickstand and a way to integrate a "slimmer" stylus...I might just consider it. I'm already considering the Galaxy Note 2 (assuming it does make it to Sprint), but the size of the phone really does bother me a 'bit (even though, I'm not one to normally use a case, so the size wouldn't be that bad...IMO). Only thing that would make me hesitant is, I didn't really like the response of the stylus on the Flyer, so HTC would've had to make some huge improvements on the scribe and it's ability to write on the screen, in order for me to trully take it into consideration.

-EDIT- All the rumors are pointing to Verizon getting this one. Ugh, Verizon has the cash to spend on phones that just seem that much better and/or comparable to Sprint. The LTEvo looks better than the One X, IMO, but other than that, Verizon has a ton more options (rumored or currently available) that I'd go with. It's a good thing Sprint has favorable monthly costs because I would already have moved over to Verizon if it didn't. It almost feels like Sprint is moving backwards, as far as phone offerings are concerned. It's similar to how it was a few years back, when their best phones were Windows Mobile phones and Blackberry...ugh. Frustrating.
 
I don't care if they make a phone the size of the Kindle Fire... LOL, I'll just wear my bluetooth.

If the bezel is minimized, they could make a phone with a 5" screen that's not much bigger than what's out there already (excluding the Note). I'm skeptical myself, but I'll withhold judgment until I see it in person.

I edited my post...from what I'm reading, all rumors are pointing towards it being a Verizon offering...UGH. Seriously, Verizon has a bunch of phones (rumored) that would all be at the top of my list over the LTEvo and SGS 3, if they were offered on Sprint. Razr HD & this new HTC phone being rumored would both potentially be my top choices over the LTEvo or SGS 3.
 
The rzr is the only phone I have seen exclusive to Verizon and due to an agreement that expires next year I believe.

Every other flavor of phone they get Sprint has had in some shape or form.

I have seen nothing to point to Sprint not receiving the HTC mammoth

It's already been confirmen by my Samsung source that the note 2 should be multi carrier

I guess I really don't get the comment on offerings...everyone is getting the same phones lol

Hell even metro PCs is rumored to be getting the s3

With exception to LTEvo, Sprint doesn't offer any phone that would necessarily make people on other carriers say, "wow, I wish that was offered on my carrier."

If they're banking on that LG phone to be the "suprise" of the year, I hope it's really darn good, but even that is supposed to have a Verizon counterpart that has the same specs. And LG has always played step-sister to Samsung, especially after the success of the SGS 2 last year. Once the SGS 2 by far exceeded expectations, especially in the domestic US, LG's offerings would still take a back seat and more likely will take a back seat this year too.

Sprint is definitely lagging behind with regards to their Motorola offering. The MoPhoQ is a step backwards from the original MoPho and I'd take the Atrix HD and the Razr HD over it, without a doubt. I'd even venture to say that the Droid Bionic outshined the Photon last year...and that was prior to the surprise appearance of the Razr and Razr Maxx.

We have the best One X (sd card, bigger battery, aluminum chassis, kickstand) but no One V for a good, lower-price HTC alternative.

I wouldn't mind seeing that as well as two Motorola models.

The iPhone 5 will be the wildcard, yes?

If they offer too many models to a smaller user base, then perhaps support for everyone will suffer? Not sure though.

The offerings from Motorola are limited due to the moto/Verizon agreement

Samsung deals to the highest bidder. Rightfully so both them and HTC now look fow all 4 carrier release. Bidding wars decide who gets to release first in some cases.

Sony and LG are just behind the curve and RIM has almost completely dissapeared

Build quality is still pretty poor on moto devices imo, and everyone I know that has one Hates them. And let's not forget locked bootloaders.

From what I have seen Sprint is sticking with the 3 major players...HTC Samsung and Apple. I think we will continue to see some mid and entry type devices from others in there from others such as LG, Moto, etc but not much.

Take the moto photon q. We don't currently have a slider, it fits that niche.

Definitely not a device for everyone but it has its place


And for those that mistakenly think Sprint is catering to Sammy, look again. Sammy is the only one pumping out 2-3 new device models every month.

I called that one last year. Flood the market with tons of device
options at every price point and what do you have?

No one but sheep to buy the next Iphone
