Help Any problems with the new update?

I'm eager to try Swype, but I want to make sure the update doesn't introduce any new issues, like slowdowns or something.

What's everyone's experience so far?

I uypdated and I am using the swpe keyboard.... I haven't sen any problems or slowdown, the only problem is with the new 3.7 update that there is bloatware, unless you like bloatware, then there is no problem :D

my search "button" no longer works "The Application Search (process com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox) has stopped unexpectedly" WTF!

No probably with the update actually. I just don't wont the Nova app. I actually wont to try the Blockbuster app.

I can't figure out how to set swype as my keyboard, but I can do the tutorial from the settings. I am missing something, feel like an idiot. Help.

NVM, I found out about long pressing the text box.

I'm wondering what everyone's opinion is on the NEED and BENEFIT of this update?? With a little searching, one can load Swype into their unrooted phone or be lucky enough to have the official beta in which case the beta is BETTER than the Swype version currently installed on the latest OTA (so I've heard). Then there seems to be a bunch of Sprint crAPPs that are updated and just a few new things.

Anyone out their either RUNNING to install this update or, if they have already installed, SO SO SO HAPPY at some sort of feature or performance improvement or problem fix??

THANKS!!

It fixed (permanently? Maybe not...) the 4G lag fix and seems to have sped the phone up, but it does introduce some audio streaming issues of 3G and 4G. If you stream a lot of audio (xmserius, xiia) then wait to update until mid-january, when HTC is releasing a fix for the 3.7 update.

My phone was wacked out the next day. Thinks its in Talliin Estonia.
Then the time flips back and forth about 10 hours. Had Sprint to a reset over the air. Seems to be back to normal now. I also bitched to them about the Uninstallable Bloatware they slamed us with. "Its not our fault blame HTC". I warned them their network pushed it on MY phone. And they are responsible. Can you say "Class action lawsuit" ? Ask Microsoft how that went for them when they forced their "Applications" on you.

Bet we get an update real soon that lets us delete apps we never wanted.

Update broke my home button, I would click it and nothing would happen. Battery pull would only fix it for about 5minutes, so I backed everything up and did a hard reset.

Now every things fine, so far every update for me will require a back up then hard reset, can't wait for Gingerbread.

Yeah funny, my audible tones quit working as well. Then around 500pm they started working again. I had a couple of issues like that, then today they started working. I did nothing to fix it, then boom its working again. LOl. Thats the kind of issues I like, the ones that fix themselves. :)

the clock is off by 10hrs. THinks it's in another part of the world. Not talking about a widget but the phone clock in the top right corner. rebooted phone and was good for a couple hours, then it reverted back. just pulled battery, waiting to see if it goes to wrong time.

My "Update PRL, Update Profile, and Firmware Update" doesn't seem to be working. When I try to launch any of these, nothing happens. As I recall, before the update it would still search and report back on whether or not an update is available.

Is anyone experiencing similar problems or is this normal for the new update? If it is indeed a problem, I'll have stop my Sprint store and have them check it out.

pulled battery worked for awhile but time is off again. Have to set it manually until an update fixes it.

Personally refuse to reset if it's caused by an OTA, I'm running stock. Sure 5 bucks is small but it's the principal of it all.

I fully respect your opinion but cannot follow your logic - here's why:

It's a cell phone. I dunno 'bout you or your family, but I've seen lost, stolen, dropped on pavement, dropped into sink and my personal favorite - BAAAZZZptth! - phone dies, SD card fried, the whole bit.

My warranty replacement comes without the benefit of the previous configuration.

If you have some moral objection to resetting, it's ok if I never get that one - it's your phone.

But not paying $5 to get a full backup of a cell phone - for the reasons above - indicates to me a kinda Russian Roulette thinking. It's not if you'll need to replace a cell phone some day, it's when.

With feature phones - we were stuck.

With smartphones, you have a choice.

And I don't know your feelings on this, but I don't mind paying a few bucks (like only 5) against the day that something goes really south.

It takes hours for me to completely customize my phone and get everything just so.

That time's worth more than $5 to me.

PS - IF you've gotten some cache/data areas tangled up, no future update will fix this, and your phone's performance will degrade over time. And with a backup, the whole reset becomes a painless 5 or so minutes of your time.

And - it lets you know if it's an actual defect requiring HTC/Sprint help or something simpler.

And going round and round with HTC/Sprint is also time-consuming, btw.

Ever since the update, my desktop is constantly refreshing. Driving me nuts. Just about every text I send, when I go back to the home screen, I get the infamous -- loading... box. Half the time I get the white screen with the green HTC logo. Very, very annoying.

And another, very weird issue I have experienced, is two layers of widgets. For example, my bookmarks widget. It appeared transparent with a static version underneath. When I went to remove the widget, I saw that it was placed over top the other one. Same with the clock/weather widget. Two of them stacked together.

Back up everything, hard reset and getting your phone back to normal should only take about an hours time.

If you're running stock.
