Any problems?

I am guessing that there are no real problems with the new note. I don't see too many complaints on this site, is it that good?

It has not been available for too long yet and the price has to go down for more people to buy it and start real testing, IMO.

Yes I think you're correct. I had the old note and mostly loved it, I sold it and will probably buy the new one once it is down to

I had an older Transformer Prime before my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition. I just got this tablet on Friday, so I am still setting it up. My prime was older, so grain of salt and all, but this tablet is much faster, better display, has an excellent battery life, and is working really well for me in general. I am still waiting for accessories, and I have only had it a few days, so I will update again later when we have had time to settle in and get used to each other.

No problems yet that are not better explained by my lack of experience with the tablet.

We LOVE it. No problems, will go four days off the charger

The Darling Bride uses it, and I show her more and more things she can do with it. She's VERY technologically impaired, so I can't overwhelm her. And that's the beauty of this tablet: it will be as simple as you need it to be or as complex as you want it to be. It's all up to you :)

What I'm trying to find now is a way to screen mirror it to the Smart TV so she can stream things to tablet and then to the TV. If any of you have found a solution, I'm open to suggestion here...

Depends on the TV you have. Some offer that functionality by default - Panasonic for example wit their Swipe & Share. Samsung have something ass well.

I just bought the new Note 10.1 LTE version in black and has been playing with it the whole day. It's my first large size android tablet. I picked this one over the sleeker looking iPad Air. So far no major complains. The higher screen resolution makes a huge difference and finally taking written notes with the s-pen is actually practical. ( I also have a Note2 and hardly touch the pen function at all. )

Only minor quips I have found so far are :

1) The screen is a bit more yellowish compared to the iPad Air, esp whites. Might be a setting issue. Otherwise, it is as good as the iPad Air.
2) Google Music does not have the equalizer feature
3) Not enough case selection. Even Samsung haven't release theirs in our market
4) There is a slight pause of 1 to 2 sec when creating a new S-Note. With the procesing speed of this tablet, it should have been immediate.

I enjoyed reading your opinions. I do have to ask if you've actually had time to use both the iPad Air and the Note 10.1 2014 side by side long enough to make the decisions that you came up with in number 1 above? Also, are you referring to just the screen on the two tablets, or overall functionality of both? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that either is as good or better than the other. Thanks

Yes I do. The store I bought the Samsung Note 10.1 have both demo-units so I am able to do a side by side. Even when compared to my older iPad 3 or my Note2 which has a super-AMOLED screen, the white is just not "as white" as the iPad. I think people called that "warmer color". Certainly it is not distracting and after using it for a while I don't notice it anymore unless compared that to my other devices. Other than this very minor aspect, the display is same to me, ie both crisp and sharp.

Did you try changing screen mode?

I guess no one really knows anything about their tablets, good or bad items. You ask a question in the Apple iPad forum, you get many answers. Maybe Samsung table users just have no clue.;)

Or maybe they do not feel the need to praise their devices every time they get a chance.

This is a vvery new device and not many people have it, simple as that.

Well this makes me think i will really give the new Apple iPad Air and the soon to be released new Apple iPad Mini, a real close look. As I already have two iPads a 2&4 also two Samsung tablets a Tab2 and the 10.1 note. But if i read better reports on the Apple products then the Samsung ones, it's so long Samsung.

Yep, give them a closer look, read reviews and comparisons.

From early reviews it does not seem that iPad Air stands any chances against 2014 Edition Note, though.

Unless you're talking about build quality & feel of the tablets.

I've done some scouting for a friend, on new tablet devices for Christmas, and I got my hands on the new 10.1 Note today. I was REALLY disapointed to find the leather textured backplate to actually not feel like leather at all....not even fake leather. It's a hard, cheap feeling, leather looking back cover, with a very cheap, chrome looking, plastic trim.

(Atleast the S4 plastic trim actually looks like brushed metal...the new Note 10.1 trim looks like the same cheap "chrome" plastic used on some ink pen clips)

However, from a functional standpoint, I think the Note 10.1 blows the iPads out of the water:
  • IR Port for universal remote, and convienent TV watching with WatchOn
  • Same screen multi tasking
  • All the editing features of the S Pen (draw on the screen, capture specific images on the screen...not an entire screen shot, etc)
  • On Screen Widgets
Again, just very disapointed in the build quality. A soft feeling texture, like the first Nexus 7, would have been a really nice quality build alternative than the aluminum option (iPad, Surface)

I have been using the tablet for about a week now. I am very happy with the tablet. I have not recieved my cover and keyboard yet. I do have a bluetooth mouse hooked up. I also ordered an SD card to expand the memory, which I obviously do not have yet either.

One detractor for me has been the perks that I was supposed to get. After I registered, the site said I will receive an email, but that has not happened. I also emailed customer service, and so far, still nothing. That was disappointing for me.

The back is cheap plastic, but I plan to use a cover, so that does not bother me. The Transformer had a great brushed aluminum case that interfered with the GPS and wifi signals, so for me it is probably just from that perspective that the plastic is also no big deal for me.

AI use the tablet mainly for work, so the productivity is my key use. I also use it for reading, surfing, and convenience (such as a synced shopping list with my my wife.)

I bought this tablet becuase of the s-pen. I love it. I keep learning new things I can do. It really has a strong feel to me like they worked really hard to make sure that this device helps me to be productive. There are so many "little" things that they have included that to me, justmake this a fantastic tablet.

The display and speed are amazing. I am very happy with my purchase.

Had my new note a couple of days now (played with it quite a lot). I had the last note 10.1 which I loved despite it's "poor screen" and have a 2nd gen Nexus 7 in addition at the moment.
So far love the screen (fantastic), the speed of the tablet in general, the constant WiFi speed (no slow down like the last note over time), the SPen is much more responsive and intuitive than before. I would say this is a big improvement in every way over the last note 10.1.
My one complaint is the hardware button and softkey buttons on the surround I would have preferred them on the screen but I suspect I will (an am already compensating).
I am glad I bought it and will sell my N7 now.
Overall 9 out of ten, the best thing being the new screen and the general productivity, I will use this for some time I feel.
Maybe SKY will start to support bigger tablets then I will be very happy.
Forgot to add that, with all my normal Apps (no games), I have about 9.7GB free space out of the 16GB internal storage. All docs, photos etc are on a 64gb card.
