Any questions about sprint?

Sounds like she didnt know much of anything, There hasnt been anything official on the Samsung Q just everything thats on phonearena BGR etc.

While I hate the "friend heard from his cousin's neighbor's dog's doctor" stuff as much as anyone, my coworker had a meeting today with our Sprint rep and a bunch of phone manufacturer's. He got a chance to mess with the InstinctQ and the Hero while there (as well as a badass Sprint powered Ford truck) and I asked him to try and get a release date on the Q. The Samsung rep told him the end of October/beginning of November. You can believe it or not. He tried to get a pic of it but the Samsung guy told him no. He got one in the anyway but it is a blurry ass pic taken in the dark on his Blackberry.

The FCC just approved the samsung Q is all over all the phone sites.

True but there is generally quite some time between FCC approval and the release of the hardware. Plus some sites were speculating that due to the 180 day confidentiality request, that we would not see the phone in the next few months.

My co-worker like the phone but said he will probably go with the Hero

im going with the hero for sure!

Since the Hero will be first, thats what Im getting, but when the Q lands, Im definitely going to check it out. The polish of Sense is going to be hard to give up, so the Q better come strong with a Galaxy like spec.

Here's a question.

My contract ran out in July. In Auguet I upgraded to the Pre, didn't like it, and return it within 30 days to the sprint store from which I bought it. That was 3 weeks ago. My account online still shows me under new contract, and my upgrade status hasn't been reset. So I call CS and they tell me it usually takes 1 to 2 billing cycles to get the contract/upgrade status reset because they have to wait for the store to ship the phone to the warehouse.

Is this true... and if so, how can I hurry up this process so that it's done prior to the Oct. 11 Hero launch?

I seriously doubt thats true. While my situation was different from yours, it still revolves around reseting the contract date. I have a share plan, and the phone on the second line was lost. I went through all the insurance steps to get the phone replaced. It seems, that the insurance company was able to "renew" my contract date for sending out a refurbed phone. Had I not been looking to move to an iPhone when this line cleared contract, I might not have noticed it.

I called Sprint, talked to a rep, who tried to tell me that I had to talk to the insurance company. After asking her how the insurance company could renew my contract, she passed me on to her supervisor. Who was just as confused as I was about how they could do that. It took some doing, but he did get the old date reinstated before we hung up along with adding a note in the file in case there was any problems later.

do you know if you bought it from a corporate store? if you get a rep that is somewhat seasoned or if you just have them look up that it was bought and returned it shouldnt be a problem at all.

How do I know if it was a corporate store. All I know is it was a standalone, dedicated sprint store. The first person I talked to was actually a retentions rep. He asked me to scan my return receipt and email it to him and he would get it reset. I scanned both the purchase and return receipts and emailed it to him.... 3 weeks ago. So then I tried calling regular customer support, who told me what I posted above. Crazy, I know.

you can ask when you go into the store or just search it on sprint locater on sprint.com

im not i saw this but do you guys know the full pricing of the phone? how much will be spent before rebates etc....also, i heard best buy doesnt do rebates and will still be selling for 180 with contract ext. any word on this?

thanks:D

You mean full pricing in terms of full retail price of the phone?

And in terms of best buy that's what I hear I don't know for sure because I don't work for them

Best Buy is doing 179 with 2 year contract. They have the Sprint Hero listed at 599.99 regular price, but from what I understand they will price match if you want to buy the phone outright without a contract.

The price that every assumes will be the unsubsidized price is 429.99.

Anyone have the insurance for their phones from BestBuy? If so is it better than the Sprint Insurance? I currently have the Sprint coverage for phone malfunctions only, but it still requires that you pay $35 for replacement phone (which can be a refurb unit) plus you have to wait for them to look at it.

Last i checked Best Buy was $7/mo (all required up front for 2 yrs coverage), however, they just give you a new phone. Now the website says it's something like $9.99/mo.

why are you paying $35 for a replacement unit if you have the full insurance you never pay anything unless it has liquid damage its lost/stolen or has severe physical damage.

The only thing i can think of is you have ERP only which is for lost/stolen phone, liquid damage or extreme physical damage and requires a deductible through asurion.

So its one of those or youre not taking it to a corporate store.

As far as the details of my insurance coverage there is a $35 deductible cost with it. Mine has been carrried over from several years ago and covers only manufacturer defects/malfunctions and not any physical damage from misuse. As far as i'm aware even the new plans require a deductible if they replace the phone, and that's from manager at the local corporate store last year.

That's why i'm wondering if the BestBuy plans are better. Anyone have BestBuy phone insurance and can comment?

You only pay a deductible if you go through asurion unless of course you dont have insurance heres the break down

ESRP = Equipment service and repair program - covers everything except extreme physical damage, liquid damage, lost/stolen

ERP - equipment replacement plan - only covers extreme physical damage, liquid damage, lost/stolen in which case you need to go through asurion and pay either a $50 or $100 dedutible depending on what phone you have.

TEP - both esrp and erp in one

if youre going into the store to get your phone fixed and you have esrp or erp and it isnt liquid damaged or extreme physically damaged you shouldnt be paying anything. Look up your account on sprint.com or look at your bill and see which one you have

I have been to 2 Best Buy stores in South Orange County to order my Hero and neither of them know what I'm talking about.

Anyone have the sku I can take to them?

So all this pricing I flying around... It just says $179 for new and existing customers with 2-year contract. No where does it mention my upgrade rebate. If I am only just over a year since I got my last phone, would the Hero be $254 for me?

When my wife bought her Pre, it didn't say anywhere they applied the upgrade rebate... She was eligible for the 2 year upgrade, but I looked over the receipt and no where did it specifically mention it.

Any clarification?

If you look at the official press release from Sprint it does state the price is $179 with a 2 year agreement, after $50 instant rebate, and after $100 MIR. Sprint Press Release

The actual price is believed to be in the area of 429.99. If you are only a year through your current contract you may be looking at the difference between 429.99 - 75.00 = 354.99. Not saying that you will, just that its a possiblity.

Not knowing your plan, its hard to say. If you happen to be a "premier" customer and its your line is the primary number on the account, you would be eligible for the new customer pricing of 179.99. If not, expect to pay quite a bit more.

Not sure they would give you the 50 instant rebate, but if they did, it brings the phone down to 300ish.
