Any questions about sprint?

The HW keyboard doesn't really make a difference to me one way or the other. The only thing that made me consider this at all was the processor.

Once I put them side by side the HTC Hero seems like the better phone.

Me too.

Now if the speculation that the HTC HD2 is coming to the US as an Android CDMA phone is true that'd make me wet my pants a little bit. :D

Am on an Everything Family Plan (all lines have unlimited msg/data) but I am not the primary line. Am still using the same phone as when my line was added (4+ years ago.) I know I'm eligible for a discount on a new phone but am confused as to how much discount I'd receive and if that amount changes by phone.

If I want to purchase the Hero (or Moment) would I get it for $180?

Thanks for your assistance.

I hear you on that. The only draw back for me is the Samsung name. I'm not a big fan of their devices. Not to mention no HTC Sense UI so you'll only have 3 home screens instead of 7.

Truly the only upside to this device over the Hero is the processor.

The no Sense UI doesnt bother me one bit. There are several (3 or more) different homescreen replacements out there and from what I understand, you can add as many homescreens as you want or need. Not sure if theres a limit, but if you can get to 7-10, does it really matter?

The only upgrade isnt just the processor. AMOLED Screen. Trackpad (this ones really just a preference thing) and I would be willing to bet internal memory. I also consider the Qwerty an upgrade as well, but some dont.

Which reminds me. Anyone know what the internal memory is on this yet?

No word on the internal memory as of yet.

I'm willing to bet based on the video from CTIA today that this phone doesn't get very good reviews.

Semi-on topic question...

Is it easy to upgrade a new contract from the single line @ $69.99 to the Everything Data Family - with Any Mobile, Anytime @ $129.99? I'd like to port my wife's number over and get her a Hero but probably will wait myself for a few more weeks to see how the Moment shakes out. Also, if we do go family plan do we give up anything in terms of upgrade subsidies in the future? Plan cost looks like $10 cheaper a month with more anytime minutes.

Thanks.

(Here's hoping for at least 288mb of RAM on the Moment... heck, its chubby enough for a gig.)

There shouldnt be much difficulty in the way of changing your plan.

The only real problem I would see would be the prorating, which would make your first bill after the switch stupid high. Normally I would recommend you switch plans at the start of your billing cycle to avoid this, but since you are dealing with 2 line, one of them will most likely be in the middle somewhere.

I know when I went from a single line to a share plan, there was nothing to it, even had the phone shipped to me. Of course, adding a line is easy.

You also shouldnt lose anything in terms of subsidies or upgrades, but double check on the second line just to be sure. The main line will be fine.

I had read somewhere (I don't remember where, I have been to so many sites checking out the Hero) that only new customers and upgrades would be able to get the Hero initially. Is that true? I switched to Sprint in June for a Pre, and although I like it, it just doesn't seem to do what I need it to do. I am nowhere near time for an upgrade price, will I be able to buy a Hero at full retail next week? Will I have to wait several weeks?

You'll be able to buy it at full retail.

In order to prevent an extremely high prorated bill you can always open a new line with a new number on your bill date and then have Sprint port the other number over.

Best to go in and speak with a Sprint rep to get the details worked out.

Thanks for the replies. I went in and pre-ordered the wifey's Hero at lunch. This particular BB was organized and had a sign up sheet with time slots for rewards zone members to start picking up phones tomorrow. The time slots start at 10AM so I mentioned to the rep the phones must already be in house or close to it and he just grinned.

Less than 24 hours till 'droid goodness!

This time tomorrow, I hope to be charging up my new toy.

Hi! This is my first post here, but I would love to hear from Chris or anyone on this question:

I am a premier customer (in case that matters) and got a Pre in late July, didn't have reception at my home (but did on my previous phone), so I exchanged it for a Reclaim only because it was cheap and I had to have something to hold me over until something comparable came out. I want the Hero, and someone on my family plan is due for an upgrade (full) and does not want a new phone. If I have preordered through Best Buy, and have them activate the phone on his number so I can get the instant rebate and pricing, then turn around and switch the phone over to my number, am I in the clear? Or can Sprint possibly charge the rebate back to me or something like that? I hope that doesn't sound stupid. I would just hate to think I am ok to switch it over, and them turn around and bill me for it.

As a former Sprint manager what you want to can be done and you can do via online thru ur mysprint. That is the easiest way to do it. The only time you wouldnt be able to do it is if you have to deal with a MIR and since BB doesnt do those you are fine. Plus that is how im getting mine. I ordered my fiance a rant with my upgrade thru sprint and activated it on her number. It never touched my number at all and was never charged the rebate back
