Any questions about sprint?

Thank you for the response, dbg. Best Buy said that they would not sell it to me without activating it, so it will have to be activated on his number, but I'll just switch it over after so I can get my instant rebate. I'm glad to hear it shouldn't be a problem.

Ughh! I can't pick mine up until Thursday morning. I wish I could take a huge sleeping pill and wake up when its time. That's a little sad, but I don't care.

my Moment through Sprint, drops calls ALL THE TIME. I purchased two moments and they both drop calls. I have been with Spring for 12 years and our last four phones (Samsung) had ZERO problems with dropping calls.

any ideas? is this a known Moment issue?

thnx

My wife currently has Sprint on an account with her mother. The contract is up. Can she open a new Sprint account in her own name and get the new contract pricing on a Hero?

Also, my contract is up in a little less than a month. If she starts the account in her name, will we be able to add myself to the account next month and also get the new contract pricing on a Hero?

Hi. I have been with Sprint for years. Always been pretty satisfied. I want an Android phone but am not thrilled with any of Sprint's offerings. I looked at the Moment but its OS is outdated-should have Android 2.0. Any idea when Sprint will update it? Any idea if any other androids are coming out? A local Sprint rep told me they are getting a new Blackberry but would not elaborate further. My contract has been over. I am looking at T-Mobile because of 140 for unlimited EVERYTHING for 2-line family. BUT, they demand full retail for phones with that plan. So I am in limbo between Sprint and T-Mobile. I would appreciate your input. Thanks!

Be careful about giving up Sprint's network for T-Mo. Unless T-Mo voice coverage in your area is very very good, and Sprint's isn't, it's a bad trade. Remember, T-Mo's 3G will never be better than ATT and we all know that problems that they are having with 3G. T-Mobile Coverage . Meanwhile, the cheapest acess to most of Verizon's extensive 3G network is through Sprint.
Take a hard look at phone usage. If a lot of your calls are to other mobiles, then Sprints 1500 minute 2-line share plan with unlimited data and unlimited Anymobile minutes for $130 might be your best plan.
Personally, I would NEVER leave Sprint for T-Mobile. Literally, it's going from #3 to a really distant #4. I would leave Sprint for Verizon's DROID though if Sprint's plans weren't so dag on cheap.

What new toys does Sprint have in the pipeline? My contract is up on the 17th and am looking. I like the Moment but really like the sounds of the Droid.

I just found out today that my aquatic therapist has been tasked with buying an Android phone for his wife. Her requirements, as she is coming from a basic flip phone, are listed below. Is anything newer than the Moment, that has the following, coming out soon?

Requirements:
Full QWERTY keyboard (this removes the Hero as an option)
Touch Screen
Latest Android OS

Can an Android device be purchased with a messaging plan (like AT&T does on some of their phones) to get the best 2 yr pricing, or does it have to be a data plan? I will know next week if she agrees to add the additional cost of the data plan on the phone.

Thanks

Sprint forces a "Everything Data" plan for their Android phones.

One of the reasons I don't have a Sprint Android phone yet ... I'm not quite ready for my family plan costs to increase significantly just to have an Android phone on one of my 5 lines of service.

This stopped me from getting a Palm Pre (WebOS), and now a Sprint Android phone.

I am just soldiering on with my Treo 755P with an add-on data pack that only affects that one line of service.

If I could have added a unlimited data pack for a Moment phone and its one line of service, I would have had a Moment (and a 2 year renewed/extended contract) weeks ago.

Sprint sent me a note yesterday saying that they had reviewed my account and that I was in the correct plan for my usage. Only problem is that they have dropped the plan that I have. If I get a new phone I will have to up my plan which will cost me $20 dollars a month more.

When I first switched to Sprint I got a Blackberry and the other 3 phones on the account were "dumb" phones so we had to switch to the ED 3000 plan which only cost like $8 more than just the Blackberry plan on my Blackberry. Plus you get Sprint Nav. and Sprint TV for free. Then they switched to the Any Mobile and I dropped to the ED 1500 and now I only pay $150 a month for 4 phones with insurance. When I was with T-Mobile I payed $120 a month for 2 phones with basic internet on one, 400 text on each and no insurance. And I had no 3G in my area. So, I would suggest to switch to an ED plan and drop your minutes to make up for it and get a real phone.

Hello, my concern is about Pandora or slacker data usage. Although I have unlimited data plan, it has its limit and I don't want to go over. Do you know for example how many hours of streaming needed to hit the limit?

I have used Pandora for 3-4 hours at work and every other weekend when I bowl and have never gotten overage charges. I also read on the Crackberry forums of people using multiple gigs of data in a month and in my heaviest use have only been around 966 mb. I have not heard of a cap on Sprint when I was on T-Mobile there was rumors, but I was never able to find an actual number and if you are gonna be charged for going over a specific number it should be reletively easy to find said number.

I am a pretty heavy data user, I have no computer at home. I am a member of numerous forums, watch youtubes, listen to pandora etc. My worst month ever was 3.6 G. I had no extra charges.

With a better faster phone such as the Droid, moment, or gPhone, I might be able to hit 5GB. Even in the boonies of West Virginia I have EVDO. They upgraded the tower in town over a year ago so I do better out where I live than in some more populated areas of the state.

My situation is wierd. I currently have the original Instinct via a friend of mine that works at Sprint, so my plan is $50 for 1500 anytime and unlimited everything else.

The problem is signals at my house are so bad I hardly ever have more than 1 bar and regularly have none. It doesn't matter what provider either just to make that clear.

I am begging for an Android phone, sooner the better. Since I live in Atlanta I supposedly have 4G coverage via Clear.

So what I am dieing for is an Android phone, with a hardware keyboard, that functions via WiMax, Clear, or something similar. Even if it would just use my WiFi to make/take calls that would be acceptable.

So my question that I have NO doubt you can't answer.

Any chance of an Android based phone, with a hardware keyboard, that supports 4G Clear/WiMax by the end of the year?

I guess I am going to have to wait on the Q and see whether to go Hero or Q. If I go Q I will just have to put the Hero UI on it :)

If you are getting a poor signal from sprint in your home...they have something called an AirRave it is a router like device with a gps in it. It is like having a tower in your home....it grabs the weak signal and boosts it way up.....I believe it is 100.00 and if you think it is something you need...check and find out if you can return it if it does not work...( i would think they would let you return it) good luck
