Any Time is Grillin Time

I like my steaks medium rare and these were spot on. They were cut a little thin but I still managed to grill them to my liking. They marinaded all afternoon.. which is normally a good thing. I don't know... they were just a bit tough.
I'm a big fan of the club eye cut. These were my first less than stellar experience.

Tomorrow I'm cooking a pot roast on the smoker. I wanted to do a brisket but didn't see one I liked at the market.
So, I'm giving my chuck roast a good sear, potting it up, and letting it slow cook for a couple of hours. I'll toss some potatoes and carrots in the pot to round things out.

I was not at all happy with my roast slow roasted in the smoker. It tasted find but it was very tough. That's just not the preferred method of cooking.

Tonight I grilled out some burgers. I grilled up some onions and toasted the buns. It made for a great easy meal with some chips and dip.

Well you don't have to get up at 4 in a morning to get burgers ready. :)

Have you ever grilled venison inner loins? My buddy gave us some. Do they cook like tender loins?

We picked a great week to go to the Bahamas. Wind chills in the -20s at home.

I was hoping you had a great trip. No, I've never tried grilling venison. I would guess it to be a bit tricky because it's so lean. Perhaps wrapping it in bacon.... I just don't know. I'm sure there are some good ideas on the net that might help you head off in the right direction. Let me know how they turn out.

We did. The fried catfish at the Broke Spoke was awesome. If you ever have an occasion to stay in New Orleans, we can recommend the Holiday Inn Downtown Superdome. The weather cooperated the whole time and I had an unlimited drink package.

My buddy will have a way to grill the venison. Right now it is in the freezer.

I'm grilling out some boneless skinless chicken thighs tonight. I like to rub them down with some salt, pepper, and poultry seasoning and grill them with Curley's BBQ sauce. Wife is tossing a salad to accompany the chicken.

That Italian dressing idea sounds like the way to go.

Is Curley's BBQ sauce a local brand? Sounds like something we would get at Lambeau Field. :) I would like to try something a little bit tangier than Sweet Baby Rays.

To be honest, I don't know if it's only local or national. It is tangier than Rays. We do have Rays here and I have tried it. It is a little sweet for me. Curley's, after doing a Google search, is based in KC. I've tried all of their sauces and like them all. I have no idea how far their footprint reaches.

It's a decent BBQ sauce but I don't think it's worth ordering. Honestly, the regular Curley's is much like Rays but has just a hint of bite on it. You could likely accomplish something close by tossing a bit of cayenne in your Rays.

I haven't, no. I don't get the chance to do brats often because my wife doesn't care for them. I have to do brats when I'm having a party or down at the lease. Both of those are warm weather activities. I will give them a try.
Sounds yummy!

I bet that is a mess. I've showed the wife your pics and talked about your weather. You had more weather this winter than you deserved.

I have a couple of club steaks I'm grilling tomorrow night. I'm working out of town but with the time change, I should have just enough daylight to get er done. I'm so hungry for a steak.

Brats on Sunday. All that is missing is football. I heard Wilfolk might go back to the Pats. I wish the Packers would make a run for him.
Sounds good. As far as Wilfork, I met him once. He stopped in at my father in laws garage. He's every bit as humble and an everyman in real life as he appears on TV. The fans of any team that signs him will be lucky.

Yum.

I may do some brats Sunday as well. My local grocer has some in... store brand. They look good and are cheap. I'll have to give them a try. My wife can have some hot dogs lol.

That looks seriously good Kaat

Saturday, I spent the day getting my cabin ready for the summer. After the work was done I grilled out some burgers and brats and warmed up some pulled pork I had saved for the occasion. Guests brought chips and dips, baked beans, slaw, and potato salad. Was a beautiful evening and the eats were great. This morning I cut up some potatoes and onions, and fried them up with some sausage and eggs. I cooked it all in a dutch oven on the grill. We rolled that mix up in tortillas with some shredded cheese and hot salsa. An easy breakfast to feed the sleep over guests.
Everything tastes great when you are camping.
