I misplaced my phone for the time being and was wondering if there was anyway to get my contacts from an sd card? Like maybe a backup? or the contacts.apk? Or any other way, lol thanks

Is there any way that you can sign in to GMail from a PC? That would be the easiest way and then just import them and copy to a storage device.

How did you misplace the phone w/o the sd card? lol

Must have had and old 1 laying around somewhere.

Your contacts sync to your google account in the cloud, but there is a function in the contacts menu to import/export the contacts to the SD as a vcard.

well... someone's card anyway.

Yeah. I was kinda wondering how that happened too. I've got 3 sd cards laying around and 1 of them has phone data on it so I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

That question also got me to wondering because probably 99% of the people sync their contacts w/ Google just in case something like this happens.

@ Kcsuper,

You mind sharing what's going on and how you ended up with the card and no phone?? :)

I have 3 sd cards...1 of which is always in my pc and it contains 2 cmw backups. Fortunately I do have a Google account so now getting my contacts should be no problem. The problem will be that without the phone, I can't tether, and tethering is my only form of internet :) Got the phone back though (forgot it at the bar :P) I exported my contacts to the sd card and put it onto the other one so Ill never be without numbers again.

LMAO! Yeah, I kinda figured that you might have had an extra one laying around with some phone data on it. I know i do.

That Google sync is a MUST 4 sure bro.;)

Glad to hear that ya got your phone back from the bar. It's also nice to know that there are still some good ole honest people doing the right thing these days. :)

Thanks for answering my question. :D

Yes Google sync is a must!!

You can get contacts from anywhere you have a PC or an enternet connection (a friends phone) this can be done on the go, away from the house, etc.

My wife had my phone for a few days once. I just logged into google account from a PC and printed out my contacts, Kept the paper in my wallet and a pocket full of change LOL :D

With a Google account synced, you can pull contacts while on the opposite side of the world from your phone.

BTW: Chill out at the bar, and dont forget your phone next time :D

If you have a *.vcf file available on the sdcard, you could copy that over to PC and import that data into the Contacts application.

Good Lord. I Googled this topic just for the hell of it and got tons of hits. People.... Google is your friend. Use it!

are the contacts stored on my sd card. I'd rather create my own pc program to read/sync/update/add my contacts then use a web/cloud based service to keep them synced. -- Just call me old fashion and kicking and screaming from using the "cloud". 8 )
