Help Any way to control screen through computer?

Greek

Newbie
Well here's the deal. I hit my phone in my pocket with a plastic broom handle and it completely destroyed my phone's screen. Well I had it rooted and Samsung told me that even though that I wasn't sending it in for a software related issue, if I had paid them to fix it they would report it as rooted and void the warranty. So, I just went and got a new one from verizon and signed a new two year.

Well, I want to sell the phone on ebay, but I want to make sure my phone is completely wiped, which I'm pretty sure I've done, but I can't tell. My screen just doesn't work at all now, and the digitizer is completely shot. Is there a program that I can install through the market that will let me use my computer to control my phone? Keep in mind, I can't put it in debugging mode, or wifi, or even unlock it. I really don't want to have to send it into Samsung because for the amount of money they want, I'll make little to no money back selling this phone on Ebay (cracked phones go for only about $100 less than working ones, and Samsung wants $150+ to fix the screen). If I could at least put it in usb debugging mode, that would be a start.

I fear I'm screwed, but if anyone has any ideas, I'm completely open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

Tl;Dr: I can't control my phone at all or see my screen, and need to use my computer to somehow do it right off the bat.

If you pick up a micro USB to HDMI MHL adapter you can mirror your screen on your TV. The question then becomes whether the touch portion of the digitizer still works even though the screen doesn't come on....

While it won't allow you to control your device so to speak, programs like Airdroid will at least give you access to the "sdcard" portion of your device in order to access photos, files, etc.

As for wiping/fixing the device, you might want to check the root section. I'm pretty sure you can install the factory recovery and re-lock and unroot the device via PC. I know that I unlocked and rooted manually via PC. If you do that, you can safely return it to Samsung for repair.

I was able to install the factory recovery, but I was unable to re-lock and unroot it because I needed to go into usb debugging mode, and my digitizer is busted. Also, I can't install anything remotely from the market, because now that I'm factory, I'm not logged in.

Sigh, all this over a freaking plastic broom handle.

Sounds like the mhl adapter might be your only hope. Its <$10 so it may be worth a try. Not sure a Bluetooth keyboard will help since BT is undoubtedly turned off on your reset phone.
