Any way to keep unlimited data plan

speede541 is right - I've seen a couple sources that it will most likely get canned in 2012 but you're (kind of) safe if you're grandfathered.

Those already grandfathered are fine (at least for 2 years) unless they change their plan or upgrade again/make changes to contract after "the date". But if you try and grandfather after that date, you're SOL.

So basically we won't be able to touch our accounts after a certain date if we want to keep unlimited. This will be tough for me since I like to adjust minutes depending on the month.

Unlimited is history and Sprint will follow suit once it's upgraded to LTE. There will be no more unlimited options in the near future.

I do feel blessed that I'm able to have unlimited LTE for 2 years though.. it's exciting - I just won't be making ANY changes to my contract.

I really think sprint will keep unlimited for phones even after LTE. They recently ended unlimited data for broadband hot spots to ensure they could continue to offer unlimited data for mobile phones. They crush the other carriers in customer service and I think they will keep unlimited data for a long time as they continue to grow.

It would be really smart of them if they did keep unlimited. Verizon would hurt bad.

I would switch from Verizon to Sprint in 2014 if that were the case.. but I think I'm getting way ahead of myself now.

They seem to be relatively generous with their current policy of letting old unlimited users hold onto their plans.

I recently switched over to my brother's Verizon plan (for the awesome discount) as he has a job there now and they allow you to add other members to your employee plan. His girlfriend also added her line. I don't know if this is just because it's an employee plan, but we were both allowed to transfer our current contracts/plans over to his without losing our "grandfathered" status.

He was told that as long as we don't ever cancel our recurring contracts, we will continue to enjoy unlimited data so long as Verizon allows it.

Personally, I would be OK with limited data if the bandwith caps and prices were a bit more reasonable. The current price for the top data package is obscene for the relatively low amount of data you're allotted. If the prices go down / data limit goes up and they get rid of unlimited, I may be able to deal with that. If they do away with unlimited completely and keep the plans at their current useless levels, I think I would have to jump ship to Sprint.
