Any way to maximize battery life? (Please help!)

Nothing really, except change to ADW Launcher. I'm at 2 hours 15 minutes with 98% battery right now. Very impressed. Perhaps my battery just did need a break in period.

Holy F'ing crap! I loaded ADW and customized it like I had LauncherPro. My battery has dropped 1% in the last hour! In the hour before I switched it (while it was on LauncherPro) it dropped 10%!! WTF!?!?

I'm monitoring all of this with JuicePlotter, and if it turns out that ADW maxes my battery out, I'll start a new thread documenting it all. I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!

Lets face it. The battery sucks and I've come to accept the fact.all I want is to be able to buy some extra batteries. I want to set screen brightness to max, gps on at all times. I want to carry 3 extra 1500mah batteries.let us all know when you find any for sale.

the battery is decent for the features that come with the phone..
fastest processor and gpu... along with a super amoled screen...

anyways it outruns the evo anyday..

I used to run only about 8-12 hours a day... but after i did some tweaking.. my battery lasts a longggg time..

i turned down brightness to min... which is still pretty bright for me...

I have Juice Defender with the Ultimate addon... it allows me to configure to turn on 3G when I run certain apps that require it like the browser, app store, or pandora, etc...

I have ATK BUT i only run it once which is when i power on my phone and it loads all that at&t bloatware and default messaging/e-mail system... i kill only those and ATK and just leave the rest be...

I use SetCPU ... it runs at full clock speed when the screen is on but min freq is around 786mhz... when the screen is off my max freq 686mhz and min is 496mhz...

my god does the battery last a while... i haven't charged it since yesterday morning...
and im at 42 % and im a heavy user.. i use pandora, music player, check e-mails every hour, tons of sms, and couple voice calls...

most of the power is eaten up by my display... i might consider switching to ADWlauncher if that will help it even more.... but right now there's no need for me :)

good luck guys

Just went ahead and did most of what you are doing here. Half an hour after pulling off the charger, got a few texts in, a couple downloads over 3G (which is weak in my house) and one app install, and I'm still at "Fully Charged". This past week, after that much use I'd be getting close to being down to 90%!
By the way, I HIGHLY recommend ADW Launcher. Also seems to have helped a lot with power consumption.

I still suggest everyone use JuicePlotter to track your battery usage and drain rate. I also use JuiceDefender to turn radios off and on according to schedule. The plotter can be used as "evidence" if you choose to use battery life as a reason to swap out your phone.

I installed both of these yesterday morning an my phone came to a screeching halt. It felt like my old Cingular 8125, but slower. I uninstalled both apps and my phone is back to normal :)

I just tried installing juice defender.I have a week left, before I can decide keep or leave it.:) I love it so I honestly would just buy extra batteries,I have a lot of chargers, and car chargers so not end of world.
I use everything, and I am seeing it last all day with using everything.Maybe just charging it nightly and using it as we should,is really the way to break it in???

I came to this thread because I purchased a new Samsung Captivate and the battery died in 5 hours on the first day after a full charge.
I loaded Juice Defender, turned off GPS, and did a complete full charge.
I did receive the message that the battery was completely charged. Didn't get that message the first time I charged it.
Second day of use, I started using my phone at 8am. It is now 4pm. I have used the phone steadily all day. I have 90% battery left !!!!

i just flashed my captivate with cognition and 6 hours since unplugged and at 82% battery life. This time on stock 2.1 It would be near dead. It seems not the battery but the stock 2.1 that is killing battery life.

There is a simple solution to this: Flash Cognition,Install SetCPU,Set the brightness down to 0%. Then your done. My battery usually gives me a good 22 hours and I stay on my phone A LOT

My battery is TERRIBLE too. I even have my ROM/modem flashed for max battery life. I went to sleep with like 50-60% with GPS on and sync off...woke up to a phone that didn't even have enough charge to turn on.

I bought two cheap batteries and a charger for ~$8 on eBay from Hong Kong. I bought them on Jan. 8th and my parents shipped it to my dorm on the 20th. I can't wait to pop a new battery in this thing.

I understand some of you love your ROMs, but suggesting to every newcomer to "just flash a hacked ROM" as the universal solution to every question/gripe isn't really the best tactic. Not everyone wants to take on the responsibilities, risks and side-effects of hacking their phone any more than they want to drop a non-standard engine in their car just so that changing their oil is easier. This forum needs to remain friendly to those who don't wish to hack their phones and instead want to stay legit and work with the official firmware as it comes. :)
