Help Any way to rotate screen faster?

Title speaks foe itself, is there any way to decrease the delay when rotating between portrait and landscaping modes? This lag is really annoying.

I have to agree, it's really starting to get on my nerves.

However, this probably will get fixed in an update. :o

It's somewhat annoying, but it's NOT lag. It's actually a feature (someone else mentioned this in another thread) because the rotation was too sensitive before I guess. It'd be nice if it were configurable though.

Feature or not, it's still annoying as all get out. I do notice, though, that it's only really a problem for me when I'm using the messaging app. Really hope this gets tweaked down though.

yea i hate this, it's faster on the rezound.

by the way, why do some screens rotate and some don't? i'd love to be able to keep the phone in landscape mode full time and never worry about the lag.

Start doing some wrist exercises. The faster you can rotate your hand, the faster the GNex will go from portrait to landscape and vice versa.

Sorry, had to put that out there.

I remember reading that ics would rotate into upside down portrait. This would be very helpful since the connections are on the bottom. I like to prop my phone up in portrait for google nav while having car audio and charger wired in. Any thoughts?

well if they change it, i hope there is a option to keep it the way it is,, I find the speed just perfect,, I hate when the screen changes to quickly,,

Being able to set the time would be ideal -- I can certainly understand people who thought it was too fast (I personally liked it), but I think they when too far in the opposite direction with the change. Some of it may be lag but who knows. Le shrug.

it drives me mad, particularly if you are viewing photo and you want to change from portrait to landscape frequently. its really poor. there must be a way of speeding it up. you can adjust speed and and sensitivity of the gyroscope on an Iphone..........

i have just moved from iphone to my first android (SGN). i assume installing a rom is like jailbreaking your phone? is that right. or can you just download a rom like an app?? i would love to speed up the gyroscope responce time. thanks cbeng.

I don't buy the Feature thing! They have to speed up the transition with an update. I happen to agree with those stating that the user should have control of how fast, or slow the transition should be.

Sean, do you remember how fast it was with the Bionic? I thought it was way too sensitive and annoyed me way more than waiting an extra second with my Nexus. If I could control it via some ROM or app, great, but I'm happy where it is.

Yes I agree the Bionic was way to sensitive to the point where I would have to disable screen rotation pretty often.

I'm in agreement to allowing the user to control the sensitivity. Because to me the Nexus is about a second or two off with rotating the screen for certain things.Funny, the Bionic was too fast, and the Nexus is too slow...Happy Medium would do us all a lot of good. Lol, we both know that would just be too easy though...

Its way too slow. Its nearly 2 seconds. I understand not wanting it flipping around instantly, but the delay is way too long. I agree it needs to be user configurable.

This problem is all but fixed but the stunningly DEAF people at Google don't care to apply the fix to the whole phone.

Try this. Take a picture of anything. Notice in the upper right corner the thumbnail of what you just took. Now rotate your phone.

The rotations are quick, sharp and responsive. The rotation of the phone works just fine but the *&^* people at Google will simply not allow the phone as a whole to respond as it does in the camera app is allowed to.

Fix it people. There is no excuse to this other than you are lazy.

Since its not broken in Google's opinion (they made it slow intentionally - whether we like it or not is another story) there's nothing they need to "fix". Like anything android, if you don't like the way google does something.... there are always custom Roms that will let you have it your way.

The best way to let Google know we don't like it their way is to star the issue.

Do different ROMs have have different rotate times? Because it doesn't seem out of the ordinary slow on my GNexus. It takes maybe a second if that.

I believe some custom roms offer the ability to change rotation speed....

AOKP ROM allows you to adjust the times for the rotations. It was a major reason I chose to root and add a ROM to my GNex. Another reason being the toggles in the pull down notification bar allowing me to adjust settings on the fly without having to go into the settings menu (especially handy: the 4G toggle).
