Root anybody running BobZ's rom?

Yeah I'm running it. I've got the latest build and it works great!! Only time mine reboots is when I'm trying to OC it too much. Each phone is different though. But yeah, I'm good with BobZ's ROM.

Yeppers, If i'm still unemployed... I'm gonna do a comparison with the BackSide and BobZ. They're 'almost' identicle. Been with BackSide since the beginning... but I'm a 'always for the underdog' kinda guy so I'm using BobZ and loving it. But I do promote both when I post. ;)

I tried BobZ's and really loved it, and yogi is right. They are almost identical. The only thing I like about Jerry's over Bobs is that I get more internal space with Jerry's. Other than that, there's really no difference between the two that I could tell (accept the disappearing status bar... I didn't have that with Bob's).

I think you would be happy with either one. :)

Those who are using Bob's ROM, are you noticing a slower startup time compared to BackSIDE? I'm just wondering if this is normal or not. I'm guessing mine probably takes between 30-40 seconds to start between hitting the power button and seeing the home screen pop up.

Bob, a few questions regarding the new build. Why did you remove apps2sd and do I still need the partition on my card? If not, is it alright to keep it?

Also, when I tried to move Angry Birds to my SD card, it said 'failed to move'. I figured this was because you removed apps2sd, but then tried moving a few other apps and had no problem. Then I went back to try Angry Birds again and was able to move it.

I also noticed a little blurriness in the picture when first initiating camera mode. Any idea what could be causing this?

I removed because it was no longer working correctly. The partition on your card does not hurt anything. In fact, you can flash a2sd if you wish to continue using it.

Is the blurriness just at start up? How long does it take to clear up? How is the output picture quality?

Yeah, it's just when I start the camera. The few times it happened, I'd say it lasted maybe a couple seconds or so before the picture improved. And if it makes any difference, the only times I've experienced this was with low/poor lighting.

Output photo quality is fine from what I can tell.

Has anyone experienced this problem?

I am trying to install the most current bobz ROM from the 9/26 rom and I keep getting the same problem. After wiping cache, etc and flashing the rom, I get stuck on the lockscreen.

I can't touch anything. I can hold power and bring up the options to reboot, etc, but I can't select anything. If I hit power, the screen will shut off like normal, but I can't turn it back on. Also, it says my carrier is Cricket, and I have no data connection.

I tried it twice and got the same problem.

Did you download the ROM through Rom Manager or downloaded it with the computer?? If by Rom Manager, try downloading it by computer then transfer over to your sd card then wipe, format and flash.

First, do NOT use ROM Manager...I did not put my rom's there!
I build for a bunch of different phones, so make sure your downloading and installing the correct rom for your phone! I always have the phone model number in the file name
Example: CM7.1.0.1-VM670-BobZhome-101811.zip
CM version - phone model - my nick - date
VM670=Virgin Mobile
LW690=Cricket
MS690=MetroPCS
VS660=Verizon

I am dumb. I was trying to do it in a hurry and that was the problem.

What is the issue with ROM Manager if I download and flash the zip myself? What would you suggest using?

Edit: Disregard that question. I use clockwork.

I'm running the late september build of bobs Optimus V rom. So far I like it better than any other rom. The only problems I have had with it where sms texts not being recieved or going through. I found out that gallery plus worked better than the default gallery. Also if you put a very small sized(data) graphic in the DCIM/camera directory and send that to someone... it will somehow push things through. This leads me to beleive that the sms problem lies in the os. Also sound in video does not always work, especially on videos that you need. I think I am ready to upgrade to his latest build. Can anyone point me to a download link. Also I don't think there is an upgrade method and I will of course make a backup, but does anyone know about upgrades? I believe the bumblebee flash rom upgrades. Cheers

To fix sound in video, delete VideoRecord.ogg in /system/media/audio/ui

The MMS problem is only happening to a small group for some reason and with me not being in that group, it makes it very hard to fix. I've asked when(what build) the problem started and I have gotten a few different answers, which makes it even tougher to track down. It would be a great help if someone that has the MMS problem could go through my builds to see when it was working and when it stopped.
Here are some of the dates I have heard:
Build 9/26 CM7.1RC1-VM670-BobZ-NH-092611.zip
Build 9/29 CM7.1.0-VM670-BobZ-NH-092911.zip
Build 10/10 CM7.1.0-VM670-BobZ-NH-101011.zip
Build 10/13 CM7.1.0.1-VM670-BobZhome-101311.zip
Start with 9/26, if it works move on and if it doesn't let me know and I'll post earlier dates.
This test shouldn't take much time to do:
1) backup current rom
2) wipe/format everything EXCEPT sdcard
3) flash build
4) boot and test
5) reboot and go back to #2)
6) when you find the good and broken versions...restore backup
7) post working and broken build dates!
Thanks!

I used this rom when my phone was brand new. I didn't noice that MMS was not working for a while. Later I read a thread about trying other roms and re flashing. The rom was still acting up. I tried different things and found that if I flashed the rom and sent a mms without flashing gapps, everything worked and all of my pending mms and mms texts sent to me pushed through. I later experienced problems again and was able to get mms working by sending small in size mms pictures and that would get everything working. I switched from gallery to gallery+ from the app market. I still sometimes have sms issues but not as frequent and like I said, my work around works. I will try out your newer roms now and let you know about them. :) thanks

Build 10/13 CM7.1.0.1-VM670-BobZhome-101311.zip

Flashed this rom and have used for 2 days. I used the latest google appz released from google. So far phone has been crashing. Gallery really sucks on all versions I have tried. Also the orientation at first seemed more sensitive and I like that but I can't even set the phone down without it changing. I'm going to step it back a release. I'm going to try the google apps you have provided. I really don't think this one is ready. :) Also, why is air not compatible with the Optimus V?

Just flashed CM7.2RC1-VM670-BobZhome-030312.zip on a VM670 and it's working great, except for text messaging.

I'm also having issues with the dialer dropping the call when it's a full international number e.g +18005551212. If I chop the +1 off before dialing, the call goes through no problem.

Text messaging is not working at all. Plan on flashing the latest Backside release next to see if SMS will work with that ROM.

Hi! I recently flashed to BobZ's CM7.2.0 RC1-BobZ March 23, 2012 build.
Build ID is eng.bobzhome.20120323.092947

I am on day 5 of using BobZ's and so far everything works great! I haven't used bluetooth but I was able to easily pair my BT Motorola H720 headset to it. I've used Google Navigation everyday and it works great! No freeze ups, lock ups, or restarts yet. I'm not overclocking but I did try boosting to 768 Mhz under CyanogenMod settings to play Angry Birds so that it's a little smoother but I returned to normal clocks after. Texting and talking works pretty good. Surfing the web and installing apps were normal. Battery life is pretty good but Harmonia 2 is a little better so far that I can tell from my usage comparison. I switched from Harmonia 2 because the build that I had often made Google Nav crash and although I didn't need to reboot, it was quite annoying to see the OS reload.

While everything is working nicely on BobZ's there is 1 minor quirk that I'm having. From the research I've done, it's not limited to BobZ's and it has something to do with using LauncherPro or different launchers. I could be wrong on this too but let me describe what's happening.

I made two folders on my home screen where I like to organize Apps into games and tools. I found out that if I restart my phone the icons in those folders will have defaulted to the android icons. I've found that as long as it is an App that I've downloaded, installed, and proceeded to move into the SD card from the phone's memory; it would do this while in a folder. To fix this issue I would have to find LauncherPro and "Force Stop" it. After doing that I just hit the home button a few times and LauncherPro seems to restart and the icons are restored!

I tend to move apps to SD card for all that allow that option so that I can have more apps. Is there a better method? I do it all manually from the "Manage Applications" option. Also, is there a more permanent solution to the icons quirk I'm having? Is there something I can do to fix it or will it be fixed on the next release?

Thanks BobZ!

Update:
April 15, 2012
About another week has passed since I have been using BobZhome and I've started noticing a little bit more stuff. First, I've noticed that my Power Control bar doesn't seem to function correctly. Well, to be more precise it's not the widget but the things the widget controls. For example, when I try to turn off Wi-Fi or GPS location or the active sync, to see if it would conserve battery; it would proceed to turn off but would reactivate itself. I've tried stopping all running applications that might have a reporting feature and even disabled them. Second, I've noticed that the display setting that controls the brightness does the same thing. I would set it low or high but it defaults back to the regular setting in a few seconds of exiting the settings page. Well, asides from those things this ROM is probably the most stable when it comes to apps. I've never had any apps lock up or freeze yet and for that I'm grateful. Thanks!
