anyone considering jumping ship?

So, for the last hour I've been downloading the leaked update, I may get the ota version before this downloads. Is there a faster way to get it? These file share sites suck!

For what it's worth, it's the principle. I was assured I was buying a premium device, one that would be running the latest os when I bought it. That's why I'm annoyed and am a bit surprised others don't seem to care. Like buying a new car whose ac doesn't work but because you love the brand you just accept it and never complain.

I'm thinking of jumping ship. There are only a few things I don't like, but they are important. Battery life kills me. When using navigation even the car adapter doesn't keep it charged. Using it for 3-4 hours solid will completely kill the battery. Also it is just too heavy to be carried in a shirt pocket without your shirt dropping to one side.

I'm also thinking of Windows 8. I want to see that before I dump the Rezound. So ill prolly hold on unroll fall, which is just a couple months away at this point.

Last evening I was able to do a side by side with a friend who now has the SGS3, it is really pretty cool. A bit big for my hand but the phone is impressive. The android version of SIRI is really cool and actually useful he can access all his apps with voice and they actually work properly. The screen is beautiful as well.

I'm still with my rezound though. If we ever get ICS the differences will not be so apparent. I said "if".

However if my rezound gets broken I know which replacement I'll look at first.

Installed the leak, screw Verizon, I see no reason why this hasn't gone out yet. Quadrant score increased by 300+ even though I ran it after a ton of downloading and configuring the phone. I know it's not the most accurate tool but it reflects a definite improvement of how the hardware is being utilized. Web browsing is much better and pages don't jump around like before when trying to access links before the page is done loading completely. Actually have an useful dock now, no more clutter or wasted dock position for personalize. It's not like changing or like a new phone but it is much improved. If you can find a site that doesn't restrict the download speed for the update, I'd highly recommend upgrading your phone.

I have the leak sitting on my desktop, have for awhile now. My nexus 7 has kept me from getting too antsy about my phone. But Im getting closer to the point where I just install the leak and be done with it. I keep putting it off cause I dont really want to setup my phone the way I like it again if I dont have to. I'll see what happens over the next week or so before I do anything. Its hard going from Jelly Bean back to GB though.

Take back cover off and bend it and comeback and say it's builted like a tank ha.

For a thin plastic back cover, yes I do find it much more solid than I would expect from a thin piece of plastic. The back cover of the phone is not meant to be bent. Would you give up flying because the aluminum panels that the fuselage of a Boeing 737-800 or an Airbus A320 are made of are way too weak to use as baseball bats? I still stand by my previous post. I do think the Rezound is built like a tank.

As for whether or not I'm gonna jump ship, and also about the upgrade, please see my post, and one above it, here:http://androidforums.com/htc-rezound/414286-rezound-ics-speculation-thread-14.html#post4723669

im thinking of jumping ship but not to the SG3... i want the incredible 4g... and the reason is not for ICS but because i want a smaller phone in general

I just stopped at VZ and checked one of these out and I like it! The size seems about perfect for what I need. I want one.

Help - talk me off the ledge...

Seriously, what is the downside to the Incredable 4g over the Rezound? Beside the smaller screen are there other performance issues? And I did check, the app menus has the ability to disable junkware.

i'm curious as to why one thread loves the rezound and another thread hates the rezound all having the same issues????

i'm ready to ditch my bionic. and if the rezound is going to be another pos. then i'll go back to sprint.

and don't tell me it's about coverage. cuz being a truck driver. i can tell yall it's ALL A MYTH. verizon isn't any better then any other carrier.

As in all things its all subjective. In certain buildings (where i work for one) VZW is vastly superior to sprint [at&t and t-mobile dont get service at all in my building (aircraft maintenance hangar)]

That said, in your position I would stay VZW if you have (and will be able to keep) unlimited data. If not then I'd go Sprint. The EVO LTE (or whatever they are calling it) is the better phone, hands down. I'm salty that VZW hasn't gotten a flagship HTC phone or a One X variant.

The Rezound is far from a pos, it's a great (gingerbread) phone. It's even better with the leaked ics.

I live in California, it's my experience that I get data signal everywhere I've been from San Diego to remote beaches in northern cal where I was the only one who could call or send/receive data, even in the redwoods! Maybe other states are different but that's what has kept me with Verizon so long. Customer service is generally very good when you call too. Not so much in store though.

My only beef is I bought my phone last year with the expectation of an ics update within a month or two of purchase. I was misled by Verizon and HTC.

I think one of the issues is size. If the 4.3 Rezound and the 4 inch Inc 4 were released at the same time it would be a 'which one are you getting' thread, not a jumping ship thread.

Personally I want the smaller form of the Inc 4 but I love the Rezound with the ICS leak so I'm not sure it's worth the 5 bills to keep my unlimited data. If I didn't have a small nick on the frame of my Rezound I'd just make the switch and sell it.

I agree/disagree....lol.

Where I live....Verizon isnt as strong as AT&T, maybe. My PS Vita gets better data reception in my apt than any Verizon smartphone I had/have. I had a G Nex, have a Droid 1, Droid X1, Rezound, RAZR. Had a Win Mo Omnia 1 too.

Where I used to live Verizon is stronger, I think T Mo is kinda good there too. Dont really know about AT&T. Where I used to live and where I live now....Sprint sucks. BUT....Sprint is good at my job.....which I live near....lol Wild...

So for me, Verizon and AT&T would be top tier.....with Sprint and T Mo fighting for the last spot. I used to live in DC...live in MD now. The distance is far from each other too.

Being a truck driver, someone that travels alot....you do see first hand that one carrier being the best for coverage isnt so clear cut. I do agree with you on that. Dead zones, spots kills any carrier from really being the best for coverage. I have been thinking about switching to AT&T ever since I got my PS Vita earlier this year. I think its harder for ppl that travel alot cuz at any given time time you could be in a strong Verizon area...then turn around and be in a weak Verizon area and a strong Sprint area.

As far as jumping ship...I need to probably compare the screens in person. I am a big fan of Amoled screens now.....and actually dont like my Rezound screen. If they are too similar....I probably wont. But I have been having issues with my Rezound so I might as well get the Inc 4G....cuz it cant be any worse than the 2 Rezounds I had.

I loved the rezound. It was a great phone when I had it even despite a couple of issues I had with it.

I've since moved on to the Galaxy S3 and couldn't be happier. Samsung really did an amazing job with this phone. The size did take some getting used too and I thought I'd never get past the pentile display coming from the crisp screen on the rezound. But I have to say, I actually prefer the screen on the S3 now. The viewing angles are incredible. I also never thought the deeper black levels would make such a big difference, but it really does.

The battery life is by far the best of any phone I've owned and simply puts the rezound's battery life to shame. The rezound would normally last me a full day with light usage (watching movies during my subway commute which lasts a total of about an hour, listening to some music while walking on the street, normal texting and emailing, and a few phone calls). Nevertheless, I had to constantly monitor usage. If I got more than 2 1/2 hours of screen time I was lucky. With the S3, I can easily go two days with charging. I can also get 6 hours screen time with battery to spare. Even after having had the phone for more than two weeks, the battery life still impresses me.

The other big advantage of the S3 is its low temperature. During normal use, my rezound was fine. But playing a graphic intensive game like ME: Infiltrator for more than 20 minutes or stream from netflix for more than 30 minutes and the temp would hit 42C (107-108F) easy then just continue to go up from there. I'd have to take a break, cool off my phone then resume :(. I had a3.8v battery, which I've heard had overheating issues so maybe that was it. Regardless, with the S3, I've never broke through 39C. And believe me it wasn't due to lack of trying. Never had to stop doing anything before I wanted to.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to knock the rezound. Like I said, I loved it while I had it, but to me, the S3 is leaps and bound better. This is the first phone that doesn't have me perusing the web for the next latest and greatest. Believe me, that's saying something.

I really love this phone. Since my last official upgrade (a droid x), I have had: the droid incredible, Thunderbolt, DInc2, Bionic, the DroidRazr and now the Rezound. The Rezound is the best hands down. And the only one I could keep for two years. However, my issue is with Verizon. Specifically, no upgrades or slow to upgrade the phone's software and expensive plans, especially with the new data plans. Their reluctance to upgrade the software on the bionic and rezound (both great phones) forced me to learn the ins and outs of rooting to improve these phones' performance.

Anyway, as much as i love the rezound, I will bid verizon adieu in a couple months.

I'm also leaning toward jumping ship. The Rezound has been good to me, but I also can't get over the heat and poor battery life. I've had ICS for quite some time (rooted) and it's a mediocre experience at best. I simply can't live with screen on time of less than two hours and temps ranging to 110 while having the screen on for more than five minutes straight.

The future of the Rez is also very limited - there's no way it sees official Jelly Bean.
