anyone else disappointed with 2D camera?

Mine are dark & greenish.
IMO, EVO 4G took way better pics!!
EVO 4G (left) EVO 3D (right)

Looks to me like the flash went off on the E3D but on on the E4G. If so, that's not a valid comparison. But I will agree that in my tests, the E3D pics with flash came out with a bluish tint. I can see someone calling it greenish too.

Can someone please tell me that either my camera is a dud or there is some adjustments I can make?

My primary problem is a 1-2 second delay everytime I take a picture. Sure, if I half press the shutter, that helps, but still have lag in actually taking. With 2 little kids, my camera is the way I take pics for family and send out. Am not digging this camera.

I know it is heresy here, but my company phone is an Iphone 3gs and it's camera takes nearly instant pictures...and usually very clear. I mention this because I'm 90% certain my evo camera should be at least as good, if not better.

Thanks for any help!

yes lets not compare one handset to another.. brings no value to the discussion. :)

that said, what troubleshooting steps have you taken?

are you shooting 2D or 3D? what are your camera settings?

what SD card are you using?

how much avail memory is on your device?

is your SD card near capacity?

do you have a lot of apps installed?

have you attempted a battery pull?

has this always happened from day one?

just some things for you to think about here.

the cam has to focus and process the image. it does take some time. this is not a high speed DSLR camera.. its a simple novelty imager.

from your post however i tend to think it may be normal.. but without being there with you when you take the photos, its hard to diagnose.

maybe a battery pull will cure it? maybe re-format your SD card. perhaps a factory reset?

you may also take it into a local corp. store and have them smoke it over.

i experience the same thing. you just have to be really really still with the camera. if not its can get blurry. but its does take amazing pics when you have a steady hand.

i have noticed 3d takes a little longer but with 3d you can manually go in and adjust the two pics the phone takes to make the 3d image to make it sharper and less blurry.

I agree with the OP. I have 2 little girls. Anyone with kids knows they don't stop for pictures. I end up with a lot of blurry pics even with the flash. It seems the flash actually flashes too soon and don't really help from getting squinty eyes! :) It's worlds better than my Hero though, so I'm good.

Thanks for input!

I'm talking about 2d pictures, have lots of memory (and few apps / widgets), a class 10 sd card.

Appreciate any more suggestions. Was hoping there was a setting or two that might fix. Taking to a Sprint store could be helpful...but my friend's Evo seems to be same way with nearly stock settings.

In my experience as a photographer, shutter lag is a big problem with any phone or dedicated camera that's not an SLR.

If your requirement is to capture your kids in action (and I have one; they never stand still), relying on a cell phone camera is not smart. Someone above mentioned that the iPhone takes pictures instantly? I can assure you it does not. It also requires good lighting to get non-blurry pics. I'm surrounded by family with iPhones and I've taken many pics with the various models of iPhones. It does no better. And if you insist that it is, then maybe the iPhone is the right phone for you.

Evo 4G and Evo 3D cameras work pretty much the same way. It wants to focus before taking the shot. That's what all the shutter lag is caused by. So to get around this, turn off auto-focus. Now you are using the camera like an SLR. You do the focus, then take the shot. You can focus in 2 ways: tapping the screen on the subject you want in focus, or holding the shutter button half-way down.

While this may be a suitable workaround for stationary shots, it's not going to help with a kid jumping and bouncing around. But... The E3D is MUCH more suitable taking video of your kid than photos. Know your equipments' strengths and weaknesses. 9 times out of 10, with photography, the quality of your pictures depends on the person behind the camera, and not the camera itself.

Dont see a big problem with pics but video seems like complete shit compared to the 4g. I look at videos taking on my 4g (using same sd card) and vids are bright, crisp, and clear...on the 3d its really dark

On the subject of dark photos with the evo 3d, I've noticed that if I take a 3d picture and send it to my pc in 2d, or post it anywhere for that matter in 2d, that the pictures in 3d are actually better looking converted to 2d than normally taken 2d pictures.

that would be the "auto-enhance" feature that's in the settings only in 2D mode, but apparently only does something on the 3D photos. noise reduction.
