Anyone else waiting for Passion?

Pointless story, but what else do we have to talk about. Went into a Verizon store to check out the omnia 2. It's a no go. I did like the swype thing, the camera and the screen, but it sure is sluggish.

While talking with the manager, she mentioned an Eris 2, called it "a high end HTC phone like the droid", which has been mentioned as such on here before. She had no idea of a release date, but was aware of something like it and no she didn't get the idea from the sites like this. I asked and the thought of her leaving a cell phone store to go home and read about cell phones would drive her insane. I'm paraphrasing.

That's all I got. I still say Q1 2010. Can't wait to throw this touch pro 1 out a window.

Eris 2, lol. She should just not say anything, she has just made us all more stupid for having you repeat her lack of knowledge.

Haha, maybe, but I have heard reports of other Verizon employees calling it that. Not that it's the official name, just as a reference. It's all just BS at this point, but whatever keeps the hope alive for having the passion or something like it in the near future. I'll take the sholes tablet, something!

yeah i asked a verizon employee about the passion the other day, and she told me that it was going to be the exact same as the eris, but with a flash. which is obviously not the case, what would be the point of that?

Droid BOGO. Maybe they are trying to sell as many droids as they can before the Passion is released.

How about VZW doing BOGO to gain more customers and sell more product. In this tough economic climate, he who has the better bottom line will stand head and shoulders above the rest. I think Verizon would LOVE to announce in Q1 that they handed at&t their butts over the holiday season. I think you guys are reading WAY TOO much into these advertising campaigns. I mean did you even see the FREE phone they're giving away with the DROID? That phone would otherwise be free anyway!

True. I guess I am reading into this too much because I want the phone too much. O well. I'm in no rush so I'll continue to wait.

Because you can also read into the fact that today, I saw a commercial for a BOGO of the Eris. And it's not like the DROID. It's not buy a DROID get a cheap a$$ phone for free. This deal: Buy an Eris and get an ERIS for free! If you want to read into something, read into that!

It's ALSO buy a Droid, get an Eris free. Bought my droid yesterday, and got my Eris free.

BTW, my Verizon guy said that in Q1 and Q2 alone, Verizon will unleash about 20 new Android phones, so the Q1/Q2 release of the Passion is very likely.

All I know is that HTC will DEFINITELY release a 2.0 Android phone. They certainly will not continue to sit in the wake of the popularity of the DROID. That being said, I think that what people are incorrectly assuming is that the HTC that Google people have in their hands is the next gPhone. Google may just be helping in the development of the next HTC 2.0 phone. But yeah, I would say it's not IF an HTC 2.0 phone comes out, it's WHEN.

For certain, it will have Qualcomm's Snap because the HTC Sense UI DESPERATELY needs a more robust processor to handle all its animations and memory intensive operations. Due to OS2.0 though, I believe it will only have a 3.7" screen. I can't imagine developers wanting to go through another updating of apps to make sure they fix the bugs of a larger screen.

ANDROID is here. DROID put the OS on the map. Google needs to capitalize on it now while the buzz is fresh and high.

NOT ANYMORE!
When I found out that the Eris was getting an upgrade that would enable google nav, and that the Dragon/Passion might be months away, I decided to go with an Eris on a 1-year contract for $179. Even with the slower processor and lower quality video, so far I'm really happy with the Eris. I love the hard call and end buttons, I love the size (fits perfect in my purse cell phone pocket), and I don't use the web or watch video that much on my phone. I prefer the computer and my 52" HD TV.

:pCheck this out. :o

Following on from our recent news regarding the upcoming HTC Bravo / Passion handset, which was recently leaked in a roadmap, we have some new details which will clarify the situation regarding its final name and release.
As reported from BGR, the HTC Bravo will apply to European users, while the handset will be named the HTC Passion for those of you in the U.S.
As for the release of the handset, we are hearing that the Passion will be available sometime in January next year, while Europeans will get the HTC Bravo three months later on the T-Mobile network.
We hope we have cleared up some of the confusion regarding the handset. For more details on the phone, check out our earlier post here.

Yes I am waiting for that or a similar handset.

It has been tough to wait and not go and buy the Eris or Droid but I think it will all be worth it in the next 30 days.

has anyone else heard about them upping the RAM? I just read a report today, that is from today, and they were talking of taking the RAM up to 320MB as opposed to 256MB? This will be great for running multiple apps but curious about the battery now?

It does seem like that is the standard for the new year based off what is now leaking about new smart phones.

Im getting more excited each time someone posts about this phone.

I'm excited about the recent news but won't be completely satified til confirmation is made of the date and carrier. Since it's looking like it will be out in January and possibly with Verizon, I'm planning to get the Eris on Dec. 31. That way, I will have all of January to return when the Passion comes out.

and +1.

I was impatient Monday and scheming to get an Eris. I was a little bit bummed about the January release (still am) since I'll have nothing through the Xmas holiday, but it'll be well worth the wait to get what I want with some extras I wasn't expecting (oled, more RAM, FM tuner if that makes the cut). Depending on how I feel, I may pick up an Eris right before Xmas with the 30 day return taking me to the latter third of January. Or maybe I'll just hold tight, depending on what more we know by then.

I have begun to relax finally and just not so much get target fixation(which I did have about this passion) on the name any more but let myself go for what has the Snapdragon, size 4.3 I hope but I know some state 3.7, and other internal FM transmitter, would love to have AM too, and external options making it the top dog out at the time. Not that I have to have the biggest and best but what really will make me not want to take it back and exchange for another so soon and is functional.

I have a droid for now that I have until the 14th to return. I will probably return it then and wait on the Passion to see how it plays out. Could be a winner, could be total suck (which I doubt but it's always a possibility)

My main issue with the Passion is that I have never tried an HTC touchscreen phone's onscreen keyboard. Are they normally good or bad?

I can only compare OSK to my Dare which is very good for me and I can txt faster than make a call on it.

I used the HTC Eris and it was great for me as well and I had no problems with it but that is not saying others will or will not like it the same.

Go into VZW and play around with it and see what you think then post up your opinion about it for us to read.
