Anyone else waiting for Passion?

I doubt it. Maybe if emailed about the Dragon :D

I sent a detailed email inquiring about the Passion/Dragon/Zoom 2

I also sent multiple emails to Verizon about the copyright infringement involved with htcpassion.com if it is not of their consent, along with any information on the HTC passion/Dragon.

Will update if I get anything.

I emailed HTC North America and below is the response I received.

Hello, I understand how important it is to have the latest information about the best new devices around. Currently there are plenty of rumors spreading around the internet about a device referred to as either the HTC Passion or the HTC Dragon. At this time, the device officially does not exist. There has been no announcement made by HTC regarding this device, whether it be for the worldwide market or for a specific carrier (Verizon is the most commonly pointed at in these rumors.) With no announcement having been made, it is unknown what the device is from the pictures that have been seen. As it is unconfirmed that the device exists, so is it unknown when such a device might be released were it to exist. The best way to keep up with official news is to keep an eye on HTC. You may also wish to follow the HTC Twitter account at HTC (htc) on Twitter, as announcements are often made on here. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us again. You can find additional support at our user forum HTC Smartphone Wiki - HTC. There is also a customer satisfaction survey for you to take if you are interested. HTC Technical Support HTC

I actually find that email response to be incredibly encouraging, with the amount of dodging going on. I can almost see them winking as they wrote it.

Well decided to keep my droid after realizing how much easier it is to play games with the d-pad and keyboard. Good luck with the Passion everyone. It's going to be a great phone.

This is true, especially running an NES/SNES emulator, it's just easier to have the D-pad because the virtual pad sucks monkey nuts. Due to the lack of tactile feel, you don't know what you're pressing or if your finger has moved to another area of the screen. I suppose muscle memory would help that aspect, but I know how crazy I can get with the d-pad pressing. I'd rather not exert that kind of pressure on my screen.

That being said, my only concern with the DROID is that the Dec.11th updates and Jan. 2010 updates (hopefully, Android 2.1) will help with some of the minor niggles/issues with the DROID. And if the HTC Passion inherits the HD2 screen (which some say they won't), I don't understand a 4.3" screen that's not 16:9. Means that any widescreen videos you convert to the phone will have top and bottom borders.

Droid BOGO. Maybe they are trying to sell as many droids as they can before the Passion is released.

Verizon Offers Buy One Get One for Droid and Eris | Android Phone Fans

saw this grokr989,
To me it seems like a good tactic with the holiday shopping season & all,

But this also raises an eyebrow toward VZW...ARE they...Indeed trying to sell as many of the 1st two android devices as possible by doing the Droid BOGO, in result of an impending device release of the Passion/Dragon?

I guess this move will make more sense(get it? :P) later on down the road as to whether it was due to a upcoming device release or merely just a holiday shopping season move.

I say BOTH.

Yes,makes sense.

Hmmm, BOGO running Friday through Monday of the weekend that marks 30 days since the release of the Droid. This bodes well. I'm thinking we hear some news next Tuesday about something. Perhaps the Passion will begin its life on Verizon as a internet/phone only device for the first 14 days. If it's not hitting stores right away, that would explain a lack of availability for someone to get their grubby hands on it to leak to the blogs.

I find this promising. From one of the other posts that someone put up of VZW's plan, this is the ramp up time frame before more phones or whatever are released after the middle of December. There is hope.

I hope if it does indeed get released that verizon will put out some accesories for it like a charging cradle. If this phone has rumored specs it will almost be my perfect phone. If google puts out some software to handle your media like iTunes it could be IMO the best phone on the market.

I had a meeting today with a business rep about my corporate acct. I asked him if he had heard of a phone by HTC named the passion. He claimed that he had and that if I wanted one I would be waiting till close to Christmas time. I didn't ask any details, but he was very matter of fact about it existing and that it would arrive this month. He also commented that it was an upper end device like the Droid.

How would this guy know anything about the passions release?

Business rep may know the timelines a bit better as they have to look to the future more so then someone in tech support. They have to anticipate large clients needs into the future which is more important then my rink a dink contract.

I'm not claiming the validity of the info, just that it was related to me by someone who works for the right carrier, did not seem surprised by the mention of the Passion, and seemed willing to share.

Optimistically, I think it is an advertising tactic to sell as many Eris/Droid before the release of a new Android device.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but about a month ago, Verizon was having a blackberry BOGO. CONVENIENTLY ;) the blackberry storm2 and the curve 2 8530 were released when the deal ended...hmmm....

Also, as a customer of verizonwireless as of 4+ years, i have noticed the trend that verizon ONLY discounts phones when newer models are released...(i.e. env>env2>env3.....chocolate>chocolate2>flipchocolate...voyager>envtouch)

Don't you all think that a BOGO deal has come quite soon considering that the droid is as popular as it is now almost reaching 1million sold???
Motorola DROID closes in on its one-million-sold target? Boy Genius Report

They dont need to BOGO it UNLESS something new is coming (winkwink).... WOOT!!!

Was anything else mentioned by this business rep in your meeting about the "passion" ??

The only other thing I asked him was would it be worth waiting for the Passion or to go ahead with the Droid (of course as a die hard bleeding edger/beta tester I'm waiting regardless of his answer ). He stated that he probably would wait and see as long as I didn't need a new phone today; both are/would be very nice phones.

when you say "arrive this month" do you think he meant it actually being released to everyone in stores, or just in the hands of some private/important people?
