Anyone find one in stores?

Went out looking for one today. No luck. The local radio shacks said they didn't get them on today's truck and to try back next friday. Bestbuy said they'll get them tomorrow but we'll see. The local bestbuy is quite possibly one of the worst retail stores in existence, so I don't trust them.

I called a few local stores here in northern New Jersey and no one is carrying it as of today.(Best Buy & Radio Shack)

Radioshack has a store locator function on their web site... search for EVO V and click find in store. It lists many stores in LA, 90015 area with the phone.

Orlando FL Radio shack in the Florida mall on OBT. 2 left after i bought mine. They are in the back so you will have to ask for them.

Got mine at a Radio Shack I didn't know existed. Looked at the RS website, looked up the item, did an inventory check on the EVO, and it gave me address. Item was of course in the back of the store.

For those in the DC area, the Langley Park store on University Blvd has 4. I called around and couldn't find one anywhere else.

When I picked mine up at the store, everyone was saying that's a nice phone. Now they are consiodering dropping Sprint/Verizon. I dropped Verizon 2 years ago. No regrets.

Quick question for those buying at Radioshack: do they make you activate it/buy minutes in store? Long ago I opted to get my Optimus V at Target instead of Radioshack because the CSR had told me that I had to activate the phone and purchase minutes there. They would not sell me the phone otherwise even though I knew this was a blatant lie. Not sure if I want to take my chances again from a company with such shady practices.

If you want they will TRY to activate it in store for you. Or plunck your money down and walk out with a nice, shiny, new Evo and activate it at home. Shouldn't be a problem but if they say anything just tell them it's a gift. Then again purchasing your top up from them is no more expensive than anywhere else.

I think the activation problems are coming from switching from the $25 to the $35 plan. For me, they told me I have to wait 2 hours until their system changes to me to the $35 plan and then I can swap the phone.

Radioshack where I live had 3 of them in the mall, well 2 now as of yesterday. Girlfriend asked if they had any in the back of the store they went and got one for her paid for it and I'm still waiting on mine to arrive via FedEx, how funny I get a call saying it was to be delivered yesterday and they never showed, oh well. For the record its a Sprint branded device flashed with Virgin's firmware. East TN is where Im located.

I also bought mine a Radio Shack in the Florida Mall on OBT yesterday. Did they tell you had to buy the warranty in order for them to sell you the phone?

I bought the warranty, but am going to get a refund.

It isn't a blatant lie. Let me explain it.

Multiple resellers will buy phones in demand then list them for more than they are worth.
They also may take them and clone the ESN numbers for illegal use.
There are a few other reasons as well but these two are the most elaborated.

Places like Target are exempt because they can only receive a smaller quantity of stock as opposed to select retailers.

Now they buying minutes, That I'm unsure of. That's quite a new one to me. Might just be their policy.

Not all Radio Shacks are select retailers. They won't all have the same policy. It's confusing in the tier chain.

:D

From my observation so far, it seems that HTC EVO V 4G is being sold in RadioShack stores that are located near or in good 4G coverage areas. Example Big cities/Metros - LA, New York, Boston, Chicago, etc.

It makes sense to buy this phone if you spend more than 10 hours of your day on the job in big cities. The phone is great anyways due to speed, great front and back camera, ICS, screen size, FM Radio, etc.

This is bs. It just depends on the store you go to. I'm in Columbia, SC. The Radioshack near my Job tried this on me when I went to get a phone for my wife in 2009. (Think it was the Rumor 2) I then told them where they could go and went to the Radio Shack down the street in the mall and they sold me the phone with no hassle. I would not have cared about buying minutes from them, but she already had an account with Auto Top Up and did not need any extra minutes. All I needed was the phone.
