Help Anyone having issues with USB

Both OSX (Lion) and Win 7 are not seeing my Triumph. Windows dows not give the USB connect music when plugged in.

Not sure how but eventually my Triumph gave me the ISB Mass storage screen. Doesnt matter if its on or off can not access SD nor memory.

Is this a flakey USB cable/port issue?

Thanks

Steve

That sounds like maybe a bad connection or bad cable - one thing I did notice is that the quality of the cable in the box is pretty crappy.
In 7, when you connect the unit, does it pop up as a CD with options to install the drivers? See this post - I had an issue with my antivirus quashing the connection.
I'd try another cable, or if possible, see what happens when you plug into another system.

Just to follow up, I still can't do transfers between the pc and the MT. When I plug in the MT, it mounts a cd drive with setup.exe, which I ran. But it always does this.

Always does this for me, too. But I have no probs using Android SDK to call up screen caps, so maybe this is some flunky thing with Windows 7. Would love to know more about this, so bump.

When I attach my phone to a high-end Dell Laptop running XP with the supplied USB cable, I get a number of connection attempts and audible notifications, and eventually it becomes stable.

Possibly interfering here is the fact that I have Motorola Phone Tools with MotoConnect installed (used when I was using a Motorola Krazor V3M).

Oddly yes, I see a CD-ROM displayed in MyComputer. Very odd.

No problems though charging or moving files over USB, although not my preferred or only method.

My wifes LG Optimus' micro USB does not work on the Triumph and viceversa.

Not sure I understand why, shouldnt they be interchangeable.

I haven't used the cable that came with it yet. Of the two cables hooked up to my main pc that I used all the time to transfer data with a bunch of other phones (mt4g, vibrant, focus, n1, g1) - both work.

I didn't install any drivers, although in the past I had installed various drivers, but that was before the MT came out.

Y'all don't even see the "USB connected" on the notification bar?

The only cable I ever remember not working was the one that came with an Amazon Kindle.

It works, but mounts a cd with a setup.exe file in it. That's all I can do.

Just got the phone and trying to sync/load music from my computer. I have windows 7 so does that mean I am screwed until a driver comes out?

Thanks!

Windows 7 64bit here.

A couple things to note:

I installed a 16GB microSD card, and allowed the phone to format it directly.

When you plug the phone in for the first time, you immediately get action on the Triumph internal partition with the Autorun command, and it appears as a CD to your computer and wants to run the "Phone F USB Driver Setup Wizard" which I imagine has some kind of driver in it. It did NOT install anything here, and just closed that out.

At this point, you look back at the phone and have the stock Android message asking you if you want to "Turn on the USB Storage," at which point you hit the button to turn it on, and then another Win7 Autoplay window pops up which will give you access to the onboard microSD card.

At least, that's how mine played out. Keep in mind, that each time you connect the phone, you'll have the same procedure, cancel out of the CD autorun, and then turn USB storage on with the phone, and then your microSD card storage should appear.

I should also note that I don't "sync" anything, I move all my files manually. Always have, probably always will.

None of my other phones needed the driver for this and as far as I can tell the MT shouldn't either.

Even if you can't mount as a normal usb drive for some reason, you could use swiftp ftp server or take the micro sd out and copy...
(i guess "screwed" is relative)

That worked! Awesome.

What I want to know is.... what exactly is this elusive "Phone F USB Driver"?

I started suspecting it was a virus, ran windows defender and got nothing. Been googling for a while and I've found ZERO information on this "driver."

I'm having the same difficulty, doesn't show up at all on OSX, error tones on Win7, tried original and known working cables, phone does charge, downloaded drivers from motorola site and no change. The Motorola support site says this should work, is my phone bad? Anyone here solve this?

Does the cable that comes with the phone charger not work for data? It has a different part number than the data cable on the Motorola site. Do I need the "data" cable and not the one included for the charger? Thanks for any replies.

Mine decided the other day that it wasn't going to connect to my PC's (XP, and 7) after about 6 reboots of the phone, my windows 7 saw it, but my work (XP) still does not see it.

After multiple reboots, some phone time with Motorola support (who tried to help but didn't completely solve the problem but did suggest the solution), I did a factory restore and PROBLEM SOLVED! Works with the included charger cable on Win7, Mac and Linux. It does mount two drives, a "CD" and the USB. I see the previously described drivers on the CD mount and don't know what it's used for but I good to go!

Is anyone here able to reliably use the USB synch? I thought I had the problem solved but after I make any setting changes after a factory restore when I plug the cable in I get three error tones from the PC and the phone only charges. A factory reset will get the USB synch working every time but always breaks again with any setting changes. Not app installs, not rooted, just changing the wallpaper, display timeout, etc. causes the failure. Anyone? Should I swap for a new one?
