Anyone here unsatisfied?

Every IPhone will have reception and drop call issues. There is no update or patch for it, the phones design is flawed.

The way they built it to send and receive data will always be an issue unless they change the way it connects to the network...

They will probably never do it because it will result in god awful battery life..

If you do not live in a heavily populated are the phone will work fine if you do, it will always give you problems..

Im completely satisfied. I havent had any light leakage issue and only 1 random reboot about a week ago and none since. Only complaints are overall sound volume, especially when playing videos is not as loud as I would like and sometimes Youtube vids take forever to load. All phones, even the all mighty iphone have some type of issues or glitch. nothing is perfect. But the good with this phone far outweighs the bad.

Well I've been with Sprint for a long time now, over a decade. It helps when I have problems, I just bust that sucker out. I get what I need.

lol, same here! they do seem to "cave in" to your demands when youve been with them for so long! plus, i think the customer service has greatly improved over the last 2 years.

Seriously?
LMFAO

Also, idk if the troll comment was directed at me or not(if so, i am far from a troll)

Sprint is a subpar carrier who is just now starting to rebuild itself. Just because you in "10 years" received "great" service doesn't mean i can't think
or believe sprint is subpar.

Search the web, Sprint is said to have actually improved its customer service this year which makes me wonder "Just how bad" sprint was.

Anyway, I better keep my comments to myself because if you speak ill of HTC, EVO(or in this case) you are automatically a troll lol :)

Good morning to all

I agree that customer service use to suck big time. They have come a long way, but still have more work to do. But they are improving and that's good.

As far as network infrastructure.. "Maybe not coverage".. There is no carrier that can touch Sprint.. NONE..

But having shitty customer service has been their biggest obstacle as being seen as a major contender by many.

I am pretty happy overall, and definitely a HUGE HUGE HUGE improvement from my blackberry curve.

I also had the Palm Pre which I returned after 30 days.

My only true gripes would be the battery, which on my phone isn't too bad, but I definitely have to charge every night. I hate the calendar feature because it lacks a snooze option, and if I don't dismiss a reminder when i'm not near the phone, it will keep on reminding me (though there's programs to help fix this).

Oh.. not impressed with the video at all, but I can certainly deal with it.

That's it. It has everything I've been wanting in a phone, and that's all I care about! :-)

Maybe I'll take it into Radio Shack and ask for a replacement... not like I live in some major city like Chicago or something. Just some little town of 30,000, I think only like four Evos were bought from my Radio Shack, so I won't feel selfish about getting a new one lol.

I've had nothing but good experiences with sprint myself in the 4 years I've been with them. Customer service has been easy to work with(especially since I've had very few problems) and unless I'm in a bomb shelter, I get amazing signals pretty much every where I go.

I have been with sprint for 10 years and rarely have had a significant problem. Their plans are the best bang for the buck in the industry. They have been at the top of the data game since it began and continue to be so to this day. As a longtime smartphone user, I have seen it for years. I was streaming video over 3G already for ages when the iPhone came out on edge, puttering out youtube only over wifi.

This is very interesting info, is there a writeup on this somewhere I could read (and link to)?

Can anyone tell me how Verizons 3g compares to Sprints 3g as far as download speeds go? I live in a 4g region, but I've been less than impressed with any signal I've gotten so far. I am very impressed with Sprint's 3g however and won't even consider switching to Verizon if it is noticeably slower.
This likely depends on where you're located. But generally Verizon's is better. One of my coworkers has a Droid Incredible and another a Motto Droid. They seem to pull download speeds as equivalent or in some case better than my Evo.

I also had Verizon for 5.5 years before coming back to Sprint for the Evo. Both their voice and data networks are solid. Except, interestingly enough, there are two spots in my house where both my wife and I had a hard time getting Verizon service and calls would drop regardless of what Verizon phone we used. Other than that VZW was a solid network. I haven't had the same problems with Sprint in my house. It's been pretty solid at home and every where I go. I guess the point is that it depends.

Only giving the phone 3 weeks and giving up on HTC as a brand is pretty harsh. I mean the QC was terrible for the first round of phones. All 3 of your phones were probably from the first batch. Unfortunately by not giving HTC time to sort out the problems and fix later models of phones you aren't doing yourself justice. Jumping ship within 30 days is a poor decision in my opinion but to each their own (i dont know if you jumped ship but some have). I'll give HTC my obligated 22 months with this phone and if the problems persist until that point I will prob drop HTC as a company. As long as they keep coming out with innovative phones however they will always be in consideration. My first 2 iphones failed within 6 months in 2007. My 3rd iphone had absolutely zero problems for the next 18 months till I left at&t for sprint.

I have to disagree. If you had to replace your phone 3 times in 3 weeks, it really shouldnt matter if its the first batch or not. it means they just threw it together.

But that's just me i guess(and the guy who you quoted lol)

I'm on the fence about the phone. I like the Evo itself and the features its equipped with. I'm on my 2nd- the first one was returned for poor grounding issues as well as screen seperation (hardware build 3). I'm on my 2nd now, and it seems better, except for the screen grounding issue, which from what I hear could potentially be a software issue.

I'm not the biggest fan of Sprint though, their service coverage is not very good where I live and their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm currently carrying an Evo and an Incredible with me every day, trying to figure out which one to keep. For whatever reason, each time I go to make a call, I always grab the Incredible, so I am thinking that the Incredible is the phone that I should keep, and return the Evo.

I really would love to know who you guys spoke to in sprint customer service lol

But yeah like you said Different strokes for different folks.

Sprint appealed to me because of their data plans.

My base plan with Sprint
was everything data for 69.99+10 bucks for the evo=79.99

Verizon:
89.99 for unlimited data and text
and 30 for the data package

I just wish i had a better time with sprint because 40 dollars over the cost
of 24 months is a lot of money i could be saving....But what can i do ha

So when a little challenge comes your way or don't get your way you gonna run.? you can always say sprint this sprint that but how we really know what transpire? you might have been rude.

You remind me of the neighbors dog. He will run at anyone walking by at full force just sure that chain is now somehow 4 feet longer then the last time. Each time it comes up short and you get flipped onto your back.

Here is a question for you, why? You are not stupid, so why keep going back to them?

Because technology (and the companies behind them) evolve. Because things progress. Because new versions promise hope for change and improvements.

Why aren't we all still using Windows 3.1? I'm pretty sure half these forums wouldn't know the first thing about how to use a computer back when you had to manually manage things like memory.

Yet.. here we are in an era where computers are less than $200.00 and our mobiles phones are more powerful than desktop computers back in those days.

RIM (Blackberry), Apple, HTC, Motorola... they aren't out to get you. This isn't some scam. They make hardware, they learn from their innovations, and they continue to make improvements with each release.

It's fair that someone doesn't feel a particular manufacturer releases a product that accommodate their personal preferences. However, to approach it as if they've personally given you the slip is silly. It is odd how people take it personal when something doesn't live up to their expectations? ...forgetting that they are 'YOUR' expectations. They aren't mine. Perhaps they met my expectations... and perhaps I'm their target audience.

Focus on the things you can control. Manage _your_ expectations, patiently wait for a product that meets your expectations, or transition to a vendor who appeases your personal preferences.

But... if nothing else... don't take it personally and blindly blacklist someone (or some company). Being closed minded is an easy road to being (and sounding) dumb.

So... this one time I went to a sprint store, pointed a gun at the clerk, and said fix all the problems on my phone.

He just stands there with a blank stare on his face, throws his hands in the air, and ignores me?

I swear their customer service gets worse EVERY TIME I point a gun at them.

Thanks for the response Ricky. I'm in the Puget Sound region (southeast of Seattle). I do know the Verizon coverage hear is really good, just not too sure how the two stack up over here.. I guess all I can do is hope for some more reviews of the Droid X before my 30 days are up. I do prefer the aesthetics of the EVO over the Droid X by far. But, if the video and camera are significantly better and barring Ninjablur being being junk like everyone says Motoblur is, I'll probably switch. I do know one thing for certain, I love the Android OS and will be sticking with it no matter what.

Once or twice in 2 months is a small challenge, 1 or twice or more a week is a lot bigger than a small challenge lol

@benjamin-ah, i get it sarcasm. Funny

I am not rude when i call in unless I have to have an attitude. I used to work in Sales(Hollister and American Eagle) so i know how it feels to deal with customers who expect this and that and i have little if any control

So i understand their pain to an extent but im sure they have had to deal with a lot more people than i did in my day.

I even take in account this if they do have an attitude...Kind of like people at Mcdonald's.

Most of those people look miserable and I can just imagine the idiots and Aholes they dealt with so if i get a dry hello or no smile...I understand.

Sprint owed me nothing except decent customer service. I don't need chit chat, but if you want to chit chat I'm all for it...makes the experience more personal

1)But if i have a question about why my device is working I dont need to be transferred all over the place...

2)If i ask a question and you don't know the answer or are confused, can you please find somebody who may know the answer....

3)Don't tell me "A smartphone may not be for you" because I had trouble with mobile hotspot...

4)Don't ask me for a callback number to call in case we get disconnected and then when we do get disconnected you make no effort to call back so then i have to call back and get a new rep and walk them through the past hour i spent with you....

that kind of thing is what i have experienced with Sprint.

Side note
T-mobile has the worse coverage of the 4 big networks but i hear they have been voted top with customer service. I guess if your network is shaky you have to have at least one thing going for you.

Hey guys, every now and then the dome light in my Ferrari flickers and on top of that, I only get around 5 mph when I'm out driving. Should I return it and maybe get a Toyota?

You guys have to understand all these products are made in sweatshops in China. Every single phone is going to have issues like this. Please look at the iphone 4's issues they are FAR worse than the Evo's and that is with Steve Jobs personally chopping off the hands of every Chinese Foxconn worker who makes a mistake. If you can't deal with problems, or at least expect them... then you probably shouldn't buy any electronics... they're all made in China and they all have build quality issues.

The only advice I can give is to buy phones like Palm or Sony which produce lower volume, they seem to have less problems. (but the Pre still had it's fair share.) The moral of the story is: it's a damn cell phone, get over it. And don't spend your life savings on one otherwise you will end up crying about it whether it's for the 30 FPS, the battery life, or whatever..

Agree with you that there are production problems related to commonly used manufacturing and processing sites in China and other countries, but I don't think Sony and Palm do much better.

Palm Pre probably set a new benchmark for initial quality problem and returns. Sony phones, while reliable, get released so far behind that they're irrelevant when they come to market. For example, Xperia10 should have been a great phone, but it was almost a year late, was intro'd with Android 1.6 and isn't even expected to get Android 2.1 until some time in Q4 of this year, aren't supported by carriers in the US so the phones are prohibitively expensive, and still aren't spec'd to be top sellers.

In the end, most of the complaints about phones are interesting when observed with as much subjectivity as possible. Phones have become near laptop/netbook replacements with phone/camera/videorecording/gps/document view and prep/PIM-PDA capabilities for $200? That's almost miraculous.

And consider how much care we'd have to exercise if we had to tote all the aforementioned devices. Not to mention the storage and physical effort required.

Despite the build issues that all smartphones have, the fact that they work and keep us so connected now truly is a wonder and reminds me that I should always view my issues as inconveniences that I have now that I'm on the bleeding edge.:D

Yeah actually both Palm and Sony have problems right now so scratch that go back a decade and buy a phone from then, lol. My Treo 650 was solid like a rock :-D Although I hear Palm Centro's are solid and Palm Treo Pro's are solid as well. I guess the idea I was trying to get across is that with the huge mass production and scale, more and more build quality issues will come up - kinda like Toyota.

And I agree, it's well worth dealing with the problems for the rewards. I have a HTC Sprint Touch phone now that I've had for over 3 years, with 0 problems.

So every factory in China is a sweatshop and they build crappy stuff.

If it weren't for forums like this with members sharing their stories and experiences, we wouldn't know about any of the quality issues. Perhaps ignorance is bliss for some...but I think there's some credence to the old saying "squeaky wheel gets the oil".

Personally, I have confidence that most of these quality issues will be resolved at some point despite the fact that they are being built by the Chinese. Whether it will be time to stem the possible loss of those customers nearing their 30 day grace period is another matter.

I'm not trying to diss the Chinese, but the fact is in their present corporate culture, they are relied upon to quickly slap together mass quantities of electronic goods at dirt cheap prices. There's presently a movement in China away from this... labor is really getting restless, their lives are completely miserable, it's a tragedy really. But I doubt the change will come anytime soon. And if it does, the cheap labor will probably just end up somewhere else, like Vietnam or India, and we will experience the same problems. Remember when products made in the USA were garbage? Now I tend to buy made in the USA whenever possible because of higher quality. Time flows like a river..lol
