anyone not getting the "wow" factor?

I mean does it bend and make cracking noises like one of those plastic Easter eggs or does it just feel light and lacking heft?

Whe in a coat pocket, it makes that side of my coat hand like I'm smuggling illegal aliens. Pretty annoying.

LOL!

The Incredible looks & feels like a big Eris. I loved my Eris, but the slow processor really tried my patience. I really miss the dedicated silver phone buttons on the Eris, as well as the power port being on the bottom of the phone.

I have a feeling i'm going to miss the hard buttons too. I used to sit it on my desk and when the tracbkall blinked i could just hit the hard "End" key to bring up the screen to view the incoming SMS, or swype down and launch the email app all with one hand. With the Inc, i think you'll have to actually PICK it up in order to press the power button on... PITA if you ask me. But that will probably be my biggest gripe.

Can someone confirm that the only way to bring up the screen is to hit the power button on top? Or can you hit the optical joystick thingie or one of the soft keys on the front? please please!?

I don't have mine yet but coming from a Motorola v710 (go ahead, look it up) I have no doubt that I will be wow'ed. Can't wait to actually get my hands on it.

I had a V710. That was one bad ass phone (when it came out like 7 years ago, lol. I played MAD hours of Yahtzee on that thing. And Android, as advanced as it is, doesnt have a better Yahtzee game on it than that..yet.

My Progression was

V710 -> BBerry Pearl -> BBerry Curve 8330 -> Droid Eris -> Curve 8330 ->

IIIIINCREDIBLE!!!!

And it's sittin on my front porch as we speak..all alone and cold..waiting to be let in...

po wil phone...

:(

Very good device, but the Flash function was an unwow moment for me. I expected it to be at least as good as Flash Lite 3.1, since Inc has version 4, but it actually plays less content than my Archos 5 and plays no games I tried and videos can not be played in full-screen. You have to zoom the web page, which makes the videos look blocky. Not to mention a lot of sites that work with the Archos do not work with the Inc.

Perhaps it is the browser causing this, but Opera and Flash lite 3.1. blows the function of Android and Flash Lite 4 away. I expected the complete opposite.

As i've stated,

I am wowed by the camera since I love taking pix and i've updated pics on my fbook/myspace just to show off my new incredible's skills haha

Since the droid/droid eris, I've noticed i've went from obsessed with fashion and latest popular trends to actually being geeked out with cellphones and actually joining forums like this haha.

However, since i've gotten the Incredible(the camera aside), I am let down to see it's the same experience i've had with my droid and droid eris...FORCE CLOSURES and I've now had issues with my internet not working properly and i am experiencing random reboots since the 16 hours i've had it.

So i think I am going to have to return it...

Hopefully, my issues are just remotely my own and no one else is having these issues
Good potential though

Really? I've had mine for two days and haven't had a problem. No random reboot and no force close.

Could it be certain third party software that's causing the problem? I'm not expert on android because this is my first android phone, but I've been a window mobile users for the past 7 years and I know that a lot of problems comes from poorly coded software.

coming from a touch pro and long list of other WM (with a pearl thrown in there) and i must say....windows is complicated, short battery life and a little slow, BUT it does have all the necessities. by that i mean i can customize ANY thing, remote desktop, exchange support (i know the inc does but i heard different about the NO) easy to use tethering, spell check, internet sharing...oh and why dont i have a standard file explorer app? im still trying to figure the whole phone out but if your an experienced WM user you may be disappointed....and i will say that internet browsing is F-ing amazing on this phone!

I agree totally. Windows mobile may be slow and ugly, but it's still one of the most robust mobile OSes around.

I was initially "wow'd," thought not so much any more. My 2 main reasons:

1) Signal is pretty weak no matter where I'm at (never had a problem before with other vz phones).

2) I get text messages AFTER I wake it up. Shouldn't they come as they are sent? I had one sent to me last night at 10pm and I just got it this morning after waking up the phone!

I know these may seem like minor quirks, but I need a phone that can perform at least the basic functions.

Well the inc was my third android device(i returned it)
after the droid and the eris so yeah i would assume the same
thing but i had the same exact apps on the inc as the other two(especially my eris) and I now have most of the same apps on my sprint hero
and never had anywhere near as many forceclosures and reboots

the evo will be my last attempt at android soo hopefully
i will be wooowweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed at that haha

hmmm...interesting. Can't speak for signal because I get great reception in SF. As for as txt, I get it even while the phone is asleep...notifications and all.

Personally, I'm still wowed by the incredible. Am I just lucky for not experiencing the problems others are having or is it that I have very low expectations from my INC?

Sprint hero is on 1.6 right? Maybe some of the apps on the INC are not working as well on 2.1. I only saying this because I had similar problems with windows mobile when they went from 5 to 6. Some apps had no problems, while other just crashed. It's just the nature of a fragmented OS.

That sucks that you had so much trouble with android. I hope the Evo will work out for you. Other wise you're only other options are iphone (yuck!), WM7(we have to see) or WebOs (lame).

hasn't even been 24 hrs and I can already tell that I will be more than satisfied with this phone for duration of another 2yr contract

I'm never wow'd by any phone. I do think this is an exceptionally well made phone which unlike many of it's rivals will grow in experience with its updates. You have a special blend of hardware here. Battery technology can not keep up with the ever increasing speed of these chips so they will have to throw different 'extras' at these phones. (Or have a revelation in battery technology)

The hardware on this phone has massive potential for a mobile device and as the Android experience continues to grow this device is positioned to take good advantage of Androids potential.

Hardware on phones doesn't have too much room to go UP (in speed) without getting larger for batteries. This will be beneficial for Android because it will force devs to optimize rather than solve speed/stability problems with faster/better hardware. This is a win/win for everyone.

I've had a large share of issues with this phone that will ultimately make it unusable for me but I'm still extremely excited about the future potential of this line of mobile devices.
