Help Anyone return an Evo because the bottom screen is separating

to all the people who have a problem with getting it replaced over the phone; just take it back to a sprint store, and if they dont exchange it, tell them to cancel your account

Sprint gives you 30 day satisfaction guarantee; if you arent satisfied, then dump them

Its very easy to do...trust me, if its between a cancellation and a replacement, you'll get a replacement

I'm working 14 hour days right now, its the reason i havent gone into a store, and tried over the phone. I was at the cancellation department and still got shot down, will try again tonight, hate to miss some work to swap this thing, thought the pre was behind me now,lol...

Return it and save your upgrade till they have more in or until they get the next thing. That's what I'm doing.

sorry to hear that..

I guess you could call them, and if they give you a hard time, tell them to cancel your account if you are within the first 30 days..
plus, you will probably get someone different who may not give you a hard time; they shouldn't anyways..
did they say they would not exchange it under any circumstance, or, did they want a credit card number to charge you for the replacement, until they were certain you returned the "defective" one?

I have the same light leakage across the bottom, with the largest coming beneath the home button then steadily less all the way to the search. I also have light leakage from the buttons show up on the screen, especially noticeable on white back rounds (like this forum), but just above the home button. Anyone else with light leakage showing up on the screen?

I Have this problem, Just been reading about it haven't posted till now.
I'm pretty sure there are more phones with this problem, However people are just choosing to live with it. I will return mine to RS this Friday and see what happens with the next one!

Both mine and my wife's phone have this issue. I can press down on either phone's screen and push the glass in a bit, and it becomes recessed again and the light leakage goes away. It doesn't stick there though. I suspect this is a very large issue, those waiting for proof need to get out of their denial.

Starting to become a major problem here. All 9 that I have ordered now are showing signs. Going to wait for the 3rd or 4 th run before exchaning them. To those that think you have to threaten to get them replaced, calm down. You can get it replace anytime in the next 12 months.

I bought two Evos from Best Buy on Saturday. The bottom part of the screen on both phones is recessed just like the top of the screen. It's not flush with the trim, and I can't push it downward at all. Best Buy had just received this batch of phones. I'll keep an eye on it.

9? wtf?

Just got off the phone with sprint and they said they can't do an exchange without charging me because the warranty doesn cover physical defects, unbelievable.

Just keep calling Sprint C/S until you get an agent that will exchange it for you. If after a few tries you still get nowhere ask the agent to let you talk to there supervisor.

no light leakage here yet, but I can press the screen down near the home button, leakage to come soon its sounds like then...

I suggest you take your Innocase off (or don't and live in bliss :o) and look at your phone at an angle to see how the glass sits inside the "casing". Does one side seem a little more higher than the other? Forget the give so much as the actual imbalance. If not, then throw your Innocase and NEVER check it again. :D

Looks like that case might prevent the design problem from becoming an issue as far as dust is concerned. Adding a screen protector may help increase the pressure of the case on the bottom of the case as well (depending on how tight the fit is) and possibly help with light leakage.

Will someone with this case and a screen protector please confirm?

I don't qualify for a discount until early July but I think I'll go this route.

I emailed the article (along with your pictures - are you signing autographs?) to my Sprint dealer and asked if they had any news on a fix. Waiting to here back...

By the way, there are now several articles on the topic published as of this morning.

Just heard back and this is what she told me:

"I personally have not heard of that issue with any of the EVO customers we have had here in the store so far. With the article link you gave me as well as a little research I did on my own, it is covered within the warranty of the phone. Meaning if it were to happen the phone would be replaced at no cost."

My phone has the same problem. There also is a problem with the back cover--one side of it doesn't fit snugly or flush with the handset. :\

Stupid, stupid defects.

I verified mine is a little squishy at the bottom. Have to take a look at the one I bought my girl. Will wait and see if issue gets resolved before I go swap it for another which may have the same problem.

Has any1 had a Palm Pre in the past? If so, you will know that every phone has its defects. My Palm Pre had light leaking from allllll around the screen. On top of that, i had the oreo effect but the phone in general was a GREAT phone so i didn't let it bother me. It still did what it needed to do and made me happy.

I have the same mentality with the EVO and im not going to let these small defects bother me. :D

Like most others, if this happens to me, I'll wait a little bit to exchange it.
