Anyone root since the latest update 2.31.651.7

ha thats exactly what i do. I have my stock rooted as my first nandroid. I flash back to that for prl updates, etc, then back to my latest
 
Kool exactly what I wanted to hear, lol mine you my phone has been working fine even without the .7 update :D

I updated to the 2.3, and am trying to root by using universal root and rom manager, but universal root doesnt work with 2.3 so how do I down grade back to 2.1 so i can just use these programs for rooting?

Glad to hear it was so easy! So others will know...do you mind answering a few questions?

Did it retain all your apps and settings...and contacts? Did you have to re-enter your Gmail info and start over like a new phone?

It just added super user. Everything else on my Hero remained just like before the root process.:)

is that how you get prl updates after flashing a new rom? go back to stock, update, then flash back to new rom? does the update stick after flashing a new rom?

yup it saves it. Just flash back to stock and then you can update prl, profile, etc, and then flash back to your most current rom.
 
Hi All,

I did the Superoneclick root on my wife's phone this last Friday. Everything went great and was rooted in now time. However, some strange things are happening and I don't know if I did something wrong. It seems like the 3g data is very slow now. like .09mb download. Checked with android speedtest app and website. Also, sometimes when turning off wifi tether, the phone will reboot. I had originally put wifi tether pre 9 (same as my evo) then put pre 6 (under hero). Both will do it. Sometimes I will get a force close when opening the wifi tether. Anyone have any issues like this or any suggestions? Might try and unroot to see if the 3g data speeds back up. Is there a preferred (stable) wifi tether program that works best with the sprint hero? Wife is about ready to kill me for touching her phone so any help would be appreciated.

I decided to wait and see if the problems I was having worked themselves out and it looks like they did. Tested my wife's phone last night and it worked great. I guess it was something going on with 3g and her phone. The root was super easy even I could do it. Worked great and her phone was at the latest updates .7.
