Anyone thinking about returning and holding out for the Shadow?

I wont either. There's no guarantee that a release will be this summer, and as soon as that phone is about to be released, we will see the next leaked pics to the new uber phone. Why torture yourself ? If always wait, youll never get a new phone .

I live in the camp that sticks it out through the duration of a contract. Unless I have a device that is so poor that it can't function, I'll trudge through it. But then too, I also seem to be adept at getting the most out of a device. My last phone before the Incredible was the BB Storm (first model, right after release), and I cannot count how many people were amazed at how well my device performed. While most others couldn't reliably use their Storms from day to day, my device's performance was slicker'n snot on a doorknob. And to be honest, I kinda miss my Storm (but I attribute that to a longstanding loyalty to BlackBerry).

My Incredible performs so well without any effort on my part, I couldn't imagine trading it in for anything else. Should there ever be an Incredible 2 or 3 around the time my 2 year contract is nearing an end, I'll probably give it first look regardless what other model Android phones are out.

I don't place a whole lot of emphasis on what Joe-Phone-User next to me is sporting.

I'll be getting the Shadow not because I don't like my DI but because I really don't like my droid. 2 lines = 2 phones. Here are in my opinion the only 2 things Motorola has over HTC, seemingly better battery life and seemingly better reception. Granted HTC's signal meter isn't accurate as at 3 bars(max is 4 on the DI) i'm getting -71db(closer to 0 is best) when my Droid has 5 bars also with -71db.

Since I know someone will attribute the better battery life to the larger capacity of the droid battery vs the di battery I actually compared the droid at 80% charge to the di at 100% charge with a full days use of both phones using the exact same thing. 5 minute syncs with 3 email accounts each. 15 minute syncs with facebook. exactly 30 minutes of video watching. and 3 hours each of gps usage while driving. droid won lasting an extra hour after the di died and wouldn't even boot up.

either way i'm getting a shadow cause powerful android smartphones to me are like crack to an addict.

When is the shadow suppose to come out? I have the one year contract. If the timing is right, I might swing for it.

I was really thinking about it until I read about Motorola's treatment of their previous purchasers. While the Behold II was terrible, Motorola is refusing to update it to 2.1. The only device they are updating is the MotoDroid and that is because it was a stock Google device with no skins.

I don't trust Motorola to update the Shadow because it has Motorola's own skin ontop of Android called MotoBlur. HTC may be slower, but at least we know it's coming.

Love my Incredible. Certainly not returning it for a marginal upgrade. No, the next phone I'll get will be 4g so I'm thinking I might be using my annual upgrade around this time next year.

The only things I care about in a mobile phone are:

Verizon
Android
Large Screen

Obviously Verizon isn't getting a 5" Dell cell phone so I have to find the next best thing.

I don't care about sense at all. I stopped using all features of Sense pretty much.

Bottom line though I am very happy about my Incredible and I wouldn't be sad to keep it just wish it had a larger screen. I have screen size envy.

At least give reasons...

Here is my list of reasons why I will not return my incredible (that doesn't arrive in the mail till tomorrow, haha) for the shadow.

[*] HDMI is nice and all but i'll never use it.

The Incredible does have HDMI out so that would not be an advantage of the Shadow over the Inc.

A week after the Shadow is out, there will be something else.

Are you going to then return your Shadow and hold out for <insert latest uberphone here>?

Camera people are awful about this. "Should I buy <latest Nikon model> or wait for <rumored Nikon model>?" I think cell phone people might be worse, though. Must be tiring.

Frankly, people seriously undervalue actually having the device which is pretty funny to me. With the cameras, how much are the pictures worth between now and when <rumored Nikon model> comes out? How much is learning the craft worth?

the inc is perfect. the "buzz" along with better technology is great but its created so we keep buying and buying and buying.

seriously there is nothing more i need my phone to do at this point.

it's coming.

Are you sure you meant the Behold II....because it's a Samsung phone, not a Motorola phone.

I thought I read that all the MotoBlur phones were being upgraded to Android 2.1, but I could be mistaken about that.

dang moto bashers....i love moto.i've had a lot of good devices and experience with them...having said that,i love my HTC and plan on keeping it for a while.

next phone I own will be 4G device with all same specs as EVO, perhaps faster processor, more internal memory, phone memory, HDMI output, records 1080p and "gingerbread" OS

Let's all wait, maybe Motorola Droid 3, I heard it's Snapdragon 2GHz, should be lightning fast.

You can never wait on a technology.

At least give reasons...

Here is my list of reasons why I will not return my incredible (that doesn't arrive in the mail till tomorrow, haha) for the shadow.

  1. Like the EVO, the screen is to large for my taste
  2. I left my droid cuase its manufacturing flaws. I had 5 different Droids in 6 months. Motorola may of learned from their mistakes with the Droids production, but I still don't trust them. They need to earn my trust back.
  3. There aren't enough hardware differences between the Incredible and the Shadow. So it really comes down to what screen size you want.
  4. HDMI is nice and all but i'll never use it.
  5. The Shadow would be much better with vanilla android. Blur is not really that great of a package and is really just a widget or two and a funny launcher bar. The stock 2.2 launcher is nicer anyways. I prefer Sense to Blur
  6. If i'm going to get another phone, its not going to be till next May. (I bought my Incredible with a one year contract). by that time, Verizon will have LTE android phones which will be a good enough reason to upgrade.
  7. By the time the shadow comes out, there will be a better phone. No reason to waste your money constantly upgrading phones. Be patient, its a virtue, I think.

+1
