Anyone thinking about returning and holding out for the Shadow?

These posts are insane. There will ALWAYS be a new phone with this or that and if you keep waiting everytime one is announced or rumored, you will NEVER own a phone :). The Inc. is awesome and does all that it needs to, come on guys these are cell phones not cures for cancer :)
I'm so sick of reading who is switching to the EVO, who is waiting for the shadow, who will wait for their phone to renovate their house :) Face it, these phones are awesome new toys and after a few months of playing they go back to being what they are....PHONES.

Just curious but how many times can you return a phone to Verizon under the 30 days?

Consecutively speaking though.

I've maxed out returning 3 phones before i locked I got locked out of their return policy. However its because i changed my plan three times. On that note as long as you don't change your plan three times I'm going to still guess 3. Good ol' VZW probably won't let you go more than that.

No way. Have you ever seen a Droid in-person? That thing is a brick, and just looks cheaply made.

Plus, I'm not willing to give up Sense UI; too handy. And I certainly don't want Blur on top of everything; I'm not 14.

So, the only real thing I like about the EVO's and Shadow's of the world is the front-facing camera, but it's no deal-changer.

I dumped my Incredible Because I had battery life issues, and I questioned HTC's Telephony hardware..

IM looking at the Droid 2

It crossed my mind but I thought about all the other times I paid retail and got bored with the phone after a few months. Nah ill pass it looks very nice I won't lie but ill wait till next July when Verizon has a superphone with 4g. I had a Droid now the incredible buying another 3g phone for retail makes no sense at this point.

Haha I dont think we can call these phones any more.. having a phone on my incredible just feels like an added feature, I mean come on there's a freaken fm radio in my phone. Just imagine next yr patience children patience

Yes, but no. :) I want the biggest screen on Verizon. I actually want the EVO on Verizon, but the Shadow is tempting.

The reason I'm not though is simple - the deadline to return my DI is less than a week away. The Shadow will probably be out in August sometime. That means either go back to my old Dare for 3 months, or just keep my Incredible and continue to enjoy Android for another ~8 months after the Shadow comes out and then I can do my annual upgrade next May to something even better. By that time maybe we will have LTE choices, and hopefully a Verizon version of the EVO or anything with a huge 4-5" screen. I think I'll stick with Android over going back to the feature phone.

I am taking my Inc when it gets here and I am going to force myself to keep it for 2 years. If I could stick with a Palm Centro for a year and an Ozone for another I can certainly keep myself entertained with the Inc.

LOL :) Cell carriers drool over this nonsense, why do you think there is an early term fee? So many idiots willing to pay it to get the newest shiny toy. Any guesses as to why these phones don't come out closer together. They saturate the market wait until the 30 days, etc is up and then announce a new phone.
These phones are already made, they are just waiting for the latest to lose some luster and then release the next one. My brother is a media manager in a large marketing firm, believe me it's very true.

If you keep the same plan Im pretty sure you can only switch your phone once within that 30 days. You have to pay a $35 restocking fee also.

It's unlikely I'll ever buy another Motorola. Anyways, even if it was HTC or LG, there's always a bigger badder upgrade on the Horizon, can't wait forever.

I have 2 more lines that are month to month with verizon so essentially 2 year upgrades with subsidized pricing. I'll give the moto Droid shadow a try. My Droid hasnt failed yet I just really despise the hardware keyboard.

I was really thinking about it until I read about Motorola's treatment of their previous purchasers. While the Behold II was terrible, Motorola is refusing to update it to 2.1. The only device they are updating is the MotoDroid and that is because it was a stock Google device with no skins.

I don't trust Motorola to update the Shadow because it has Motorola's own skin ontop of Android called MotoBlur. HTC may be slower, but at least we know it's coming.
You're thinking about Samsung, not Motorola. The Behold II is a Samsung phone.

Let's all wait, maybe Motorola Droid 3, I heard it's Snapdragon 2GHz, should be lightning fast.

You can never wait on a technology.

DroidPro is supposedly coming this winter and will have the next generation OMAP 4 processors. The next-gen dual-core Snapdragon processors with a GPU that rivals the Hummingbird found in Samsung's Galaxy S should be out at this time as well. A 1.3 GHz Snapdragon should be ready by this summer.

Everyone is saying the droid shadow/extreme/xtreme/all-touch screen no hardware keyboard droid is going to have motoblur yet none of the pics show it nor do the articles state that it has motoblur on it. so what gives?

i thought motoblur was reserved for the lower end android phones aimed towards the youth that would actually want it and the higher end ones were not shipped with motoblur because they were aimed towards adults.

Motorola Shadow is in the limelight yet again – Android and Me

edit: I'll get the excerpts I was looking for

Combining his newest report with our previous information we come up with these specs:

Verizon
4.1″ TFT FWVGA screen
720 MHz OMAP 3630 Processor
8 GB of internal storage
8 MP Camera
720p Video Recording
mini-HDMI out
Wifi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 2.1
MicroSD support up to 32GB
~9mm at the bottom of the device flaring to ~11mm at the top
Android 2.1 or possibly 2.2 with a new version of MOTOBLUR
Launch window: July-August

The refined Motoblur UI seems to align though so who knows... really, who knows?

http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/22/mystery-verizon-motorola-droid-spotted-gonna-be-starting-some/

and if that's a new hue for Motoblur, we're all for it.

To be fair looks like a pretty decent/usable motoblur mod

in the first pic I saw of it with the guy holding it up at the gym you can clearly see motoblur

The last good Motorola I had was a Star-Tac.

I had the Moto peanut phone back in 2001. What a beauty!

The Incredible will be my first smart phone. I chose it because of its size. I thought about the Moto Droid, but I did not like the keyboard. Stock android was the main reason for thinking about it, took the DInc over it. So no to any other phone at this time.

I thought that box on the screen was the weather? I was expecting motoblur to have some sort of look like the devour with notifications all over the place. So far in that pic i see the google search bar, some icons, application drawer handle, leaves live wallpaper, and what looks to be a weather widget. Looks like it says 71 degrees and sunny but again I could be wrong and i guess that is the new motoblur?

edit, yeah that is definitely a weather widget. but now i see the facebook picture in the bottom right. seems like motoblur isn't nearly as intrusive as the original one is. i guess that isn't too bad although an option to disable it would be nice. much like you could disable or enable touchflo 3d on winmo devices.
