Help Anyone tried the DLNA media streaming?

Just wondering if this feature works well or not. Does it ever pause or skip? I don't have any devices/TV's (yet) capable of receiving this type of feed...but will buy one next time if it's worth it.

I did the video streaming from my server on my network and it was incredible not only did it streamed an avi it was flawless. Very impress
 
I watched some clips that were on my computer via wireless streaming. I was amazed at how clear they were on the phone.
 
I am having the opposite experience. the lag makes it unusable.My ps3 is fully updated, my network is ok, and the lag is horrible. lags every other second. I restarted my phone, killed other tasks, and no change. very odd.

the music and picture functions are working flawlessly, which is very cool. didn't know it had those options.
 
I'm having the same poor experience with video. Music and photos are fine, however videos will play a second, pause a second, play, pause, etc. I'm thinking it may be my SDcard with is a class 2...I'm hoping it is, anyway as I just bought a class 4 to test with.
 
I tried doing it on my Samsung tv. I couldn't get it to work until I realize it wasn't hooked up to my network.......

I tried it on my PS3, and got to see the pictures. I tried to check out my videos but the phone vanished from the PS3 DLNA list. I couldn't get it to come back.

I was gonna try again today but my PS3 died..........
 
works very well here. I do have a question for the masses:

What about codecs for the many formats of media I have on my server?
 
Follow up question...is there an adaptor or something that will let you stream to an older TV?? It sounds like a PlayStation3 would do it, but is there something else? Cheaper?
The TV guy at Best Buy had not idea what i was talking about with DLNA.
 
viewsonic will do it. 130 bucks for the media adapter, but boxee box looks like the thing to have. not sure if it does dlna though although I couldn't imagine it now. but its a good excuse to buy a ps3.lol
 
I've streamed over a dozon shows from my phone to my PS3. My fiance and I usually throw up How I Met Your Mother while we eat dinner. I've never had a problem with it. No lag. No buffering. Flawless.

I also have an insanely fast wireless connection....
 
My PS3 sees my phone just fine, but my phone doesn't see my PS3. Has anyone watched content off of their PS3 on their Epic? is there somthing special I need to set on the PS3 for the Epic to find it in AllShare?

I do have Media Streaming enabled under the Network Settings on the PS3.

i believe the ps3 only works as a dlna client, and not as a dlna server.

I know mine isn't the network (wireless n) now because my computer streams my phone flawlessly unless the resolution is 1024x720 (highest recording selection).

I think my PS3 wireless may be wonky, though. Will hardwire it and see if that helps tonight.

Don't forget that the PS3's wireless connection is capped at 4.5MB/sec, which can influence your wireless connection to it depending on distance between the PS3 and your router.. Hardwiring it will likely fix your problem.
 
there is a program called tversity that works as dlna server on your computer, tried it last night to stream stuff to my phone, worked cool although murdered my cpu.

I did not know that. I thought it was at least g but figured that even at b speeds (11Mbps) it would be good. Thanks for that tidbit of info.
 
Works great streaming to my Samsung TV that is hooked up to my local network.
 
Ok to my understanding DLNA is a wireless frequency that allows you to connect your Epic to a television...What exactly can you do with this feature? Can you play movies from your phone to your tv/laptop/game console? I have an older television so I know it doesn't have DLNA, but what about my Xbox360 or my NEWish HP laptop?
 
Just a followup...

I hard wired my PS3 and it streams pretty well now. The only thing the PS3 will not do, however, is recognize the video I shot on my phone. Kinda defeats the whole point, really.
 
Can't figure out how to stream my phone-shot video through my PS3. Only says it's "unsupported data," when selected and won't play.
