Anyone Upgrade from a Huawei Ascend?

I have a Huawei Ascend with MetroPCS. They have lowered the price to only $99 for the LG Optimus M. I was wondering if anyone who had started with the Huawei Ascend had felt it was well worth it to go to the LG Optimus. I do have the newest version of Android and that made a great improvement but the 'lag' time of the phone can be really annoying.

I made the switch when the optimus cost me 274.68 out the door and that was after paying around 170 for my ascend a month b4 switching and it was and still is the best decision I made since dropping my 80 dollar a month t-mobile account where data was capped for metro unlimited everything. I say do it. But do not just buy an optimus and not plan to root lol. Once the optimus is rooted and overclocked then you will truly be happy. I sold my ascend and now they are not available but I would really like to root and overclock one now so I recommend you keep the ascend in case you end up like me. Also, I would like to add the screen size isn't really a bust of faith but I promise you will miss your track ball. But in my opinion through experience, it's definitely worth the upgrade.

I did and it was the best decision I ever made. Every app runs 100% smoother on the Optimus, as opposed to the Ascend. The Ascend is a horrible phone that should NOT be sold as the processor they put in it is crap.

i did and i regret it my new optimus and alot of other peoples has a constant freeze/reboot problem. if the phone actually worked it would be a great phone.

Definitely a hardware issue, this phone is absolutely amazing for being a "low end" android device.

And I disagree with the earlier post the ascend is a decent phone, I think rooted and overclocked it could compete with my optimus, or at least compare to the stock optimus.

My optimus rooted overclocked blows my wife's ascend rooted and overclocked out of the water
I think what det said was the rooted overclocked ascend, running gingerbread cm7 can compete with a STOCK optimus.

I rooted and overclocked my Ascend and it was still crap. I couldn't play certain games (ie Angry Birds was horribly laggy if it would play at all). My roomates Ascend can't compete with my Optimus in terms of speed.

Funny thing is me and gf both went metro with the thoughts of us both getting the Ascend, when we get there they only had one,I was a nice guy and told her she can get it and I would get the LG m was I glad I got the optimus, all she does now is talk about the lag she has her apps always force close etc...

Also, the Ascend only has 256MB RAM and Optimus has 512MB RAM. That's another reason the Optimus runs so much smoother than the Ascend.

I am the OP and I got the LG Optimus last night and am really glad I did. the only complaint I could make is the LG ring volume is not as high as the Ascend.

It is such a pleasure to use with no lag time. MetroPCS has them for $100 and the store had to open their last case of them they were going so fast.

I did overheard from a Metro person to expect a new model shortly.

no lag probably comes from the fact that you havent installed too much and caches are empty for the most part. it will lag just not as much as the optimus. I would look into rooting now it is extremely simple and then you can overclock and wont have to see lag ever again :)

I made the move from the Ascend to Opt about 3 weeks ago. And I tell you what, i glad that I did. Around my house the Ascend had no reception at all, with the Opt, theirs at least 1 bar in most places in my home. From a performance stand point, my Ascend had been doing the auto restart about 5 to 6 times a day for the past 2 months, there was a lot of lag when going from page to page, some times freezing up just going to use the phone to make a call. The LG, has been very smooth and much quicker. I have twice as many apps on it than the Ascend and theirs still no lag. All the apps work very smoothly, and come up very quicly, where on the Acsend they would take 4 to 5 times as long to open and not always run..For someone like me that wants a good basic Android phone, the Lg wins hands down..
