Root AOKP 4.2 (jb-mr1) Discussion

Frankly, I don't trust fast charge. A battery can only charge at the rate designed, so forcing it to go faster will only destroy it or burn it out.

Actually, what fast charge does is disable any data transfer in order to utilize full bandwidth for charging.

The fast charge doesn't really ever go above the battery's rate...

When you're charging off an AC adapter you get a bit more current than on USB. The fast charge features are meant to get you more current on USB charging as I understand it.

Personally, I'd worry more about damage to the USB port than on anything for the phone... It's designed to accept the higher charge current on it's USB port from the AC adapter.

I have seen kernels that increase the AC adapter charge rate... That, I've never been comfortable with....

Oh so it's not a fast charge on ac. That makes a bit more sense. I know many phones are limited how fast they can charge, but I wouldn't mess with it on my device.

Ya I was curious on changing the actual charge rate. Wasn't sure if it made it get to hot or not. I barely had time to use it. I was more wondering about the fast charge setting. Work computer charges it way to slow. Same with my car charger
Edit: I thought this was the trigger kernel post. My original question on this post was just the fast charge setting. Not increasing the AC charge rate.

AC charge has two middle wires shorted together and DC (ex. Computer) will not be. I believe fast charge just tricks the phone thinking those middle pins are shorted together. It is standard thru all USB except apple. They have there own agenda.

I don't know if I missed something, but
1. I can't find option to reduce/adjust screen brightness under automatic brightness
2. I can't seem to have shortcuts on the screen with slider unlock
3. Can't set any other ringtone/message tone other than default, they are present in system/media folder but are not present in the options to select them.

any help/explanation is appreciated

1. If you have the screen brightness set to auto then it's not going to have the option to use the slider. Turn off auto and then you can adjust the slider. I adjust mine by having a toggle in the notification window but it can also be accessed in settings.

2. That option doesn't exist in aokp42. You could download holo locker from the market or there might be a way to use the lock screen from cm10.1. But I don't know the name of the file

3. This seems to be a bug in aokp42. Just use a root browser to set the tone you want. I personally have a whole list of tones but not the ones I normally use so I have to use RCP to set my tones.

*UPDATE* one thing you could do about the lock screen is enable the navigation bar and the navigation ring and add shortcuts to the ring and you can access them from the lock screen. And if you don't want to see the navigation bar then just enable the auto hide feature and you'll never have to see it

I was able to set phone and ring tones other than stock. For notifications, I used my sms app, not the os to make the changes. Ring tones I could change in the os... Works perfectly.

I live in Arizona, a state that doesn't do DST. I woke up thinking it was 9am when it was actually 8 because my phone on auto setting puts me in the time zone of MST that follows DST, not the specific Arizona Mountain time.

My X2 and my wife's Incredible (both on cm7) show correct time zone and do not need a manual change.

Any way to log cat this and find the root of the issue? I already tested and CM10 doesn't do this, but cm10.1 and aokp42 does this bug.

Since it was both I decided to put it here instead of making the bug report on the other threads.

Edit: after a restart it fixed itself. Now auto setting is Arizona time. If I run into this again, anyone know how I would be able to log it?

About to flash this or cm10.1 which one seems smoother to you guys? For gaming?

I don't really play any games but for normal use AOKP is a good bit smoother for me. With CM 10.1 the screen transition animations were noticeably jerky. It got a little better after a full day of use but AOKP was smooth right from the start.

Cm10.1 beta 4 is the king of smooth still :p

But as far as the official versions I think they are about the same. I haven't done any gaming on either so I don't know there. I know with triggers kernel OCed to 1836 with this version of AOKP42 I only got 6700 in antutu. So for gaming your rom might be better az. I think anything stock based is scoring higher in benchmarks.

Only 6700? Really?

Same set up

It's funny to me that here we are talking about breaking 8 grand with antutu and the new phones coming with the Qualcomm 800 and Tegra 4 are breaking 30 grand lol.

We are older technology. Don't expect much. I'm glad we got what we do. I'm swapping to DROID 4 Friday for keyboard. I'll keep spectrum. I'm going to try my best to develop something. It's hard considering porting is out of the question due to problems.. I'll try with 4.2 but testers will be needed due to my spectrum acting up. I'm barely hanging by a thread running ics leak my debloated version because I can be at standby for 7 hours and only 7% of battery go away.. Anyways I'd tried 4.2 AOKP liked it and all but my spectrum was over heating and dieing quick and when on stock gb and I try to update to ics it fails.. Same with going to v7 to v8.. I was going to sell spectrum but I can't but great work TDM, I saw no issues with the ROM. My issues are most likely my phone itself.

Have a great day everyone ill try to come up with something.

Great work TDM. :-)
