Root AOKP Build 28 question

Mikestony

~30% Carbon Black ±
I am considering flashing this rom. I have always had Mikg sense type roms.
According to website where I downloaded the zip for AOKP build 28 rom and the gapps zip, these are the instructions:

Make sure you're on the latest CWM
MAKE A NANDROID
wipe data/factory reset in recovery
flash ROM
flash Gapps
reboot

Can I use my Amon Ra v2.3 recovery?
Can I download build 28 or do I need the previous release, Milestone 4 first?
Does this come with its own kernel?
What other pointers can you guys provide for me?:o
I know the 4g and front camera do not work with this, that's fine w/me.

You can use amon RA and I would highly suggest doing so. Aokp is made for a large number of devices so that's why they recommend cwm.

You can do build 28, no need for milestone 4. Every rom will come with its own kernel

Also, I would do the normal wiping procedure not just a reset

Thanks for the quick reply!!
One (hopefully) more question,
If I fudge it up and don't have time to mess around with flashing it, can I nand back to my backup I made before the flash with no problems?
Think I might lose my kernel that I have with Mikg but that's no big deal:)

Your nandroid will save everything. Even the kernel. Make a new one before flashing

You can restore the nandroid if you dont like AOKP and it will be as if you never flashed it.

Well, you are correct and I thankyou much because I flashed that rom, and maybe I am so used to Mikg that I didn't care for AOKP at all...also I've got MikG so personalized out with themes/fonts/etc, that I didn't know what I had until it was gone (for a short while anyway).
I restored back no problem.
Plenty of other roms to flash if I get the itch again:)

If you want to flash without having to worry about your daily you can also use Boot Manager.

Boot Manager Pro

Boot Manager Lite

I have the Pro Version and Have not read what the differences are. I recommend this for anyone who really loves to check out new roms and flash alot. It's not that expensive to buy the Pro Version and Having had the program for quite a while I can say that it has jumped leaps and bounds from the earlier days of the program. It's much easier to use then it was back then and it supports a lot more Sense ROMS than it originally had. Had people not supported this app who knows how it would be now or if it would be at all. Just my .02 cents worth :D

I believe the lite version only allows you 1 slot. The description says it also has some features removed, but I don't know what they are
