Root AOKP ICS rom

sdraw, thanks for posting this :) fyi, the camera does take pics, but the viewfinder doesnt show what your taking pics of
 
I just installed this weekend and i think its simply amazing. it just shows you the incredible is fast enough to rice ICS. I'm coming from cm7 and i love it. Very stable.
 
I'm actually having the opposite results- I have flashed build #38 twice now, and it hasn't taken either time. Wouldn't even get past the initial setup. The screen went totally squirrely. I deleted the zip and even re-downloaded and re-flashed, thinking maybe I had a corrupted file. But it made no difference. Still made the phone go totally nuts. (I did flash the ics version of gapps at the same time, for what it's worth.) I Nand restored back to CM7.2 RC1 both times and still find it to be the best of all the ROMs I've flashed over the years.

However, I'm still intrigued by ICS. I was wondering if anyone had similar results to me and whether I should try something like build #37? Anything else that is verified as stable and fully functional?

Well the good news is that an official CM9 for the Incredible should be released shortly (at least according to their website)

I see you over on the Incredible 4G forum, and if it weren't for the fact that my work pays for mine, I'd feel pretty disillusioned about the whole data thing, too. Typical Verizon to string it out this long. Still want the phone though!!!
 
Yes. I really feel that HTC produces the most satisfying experience for their smartphones. Sense makes sense to me. After calculating two year costs for services and products, we're only going to be paying about ten dollars more per month to keep unlimited data by purchasing the phone at full retail. Who knows, verizon might work out some sort of financing into our bill to help out, so we don't have to pull out the big bucks up front. I know I don't like any phone they have in their stores right now. And the Samsung, well, it's a Samsung.
 
The new AOKP milestone 6 is great. There are a few additional tweaks you may need to flash (kernel update, camera fix) that make it extremely fast and stable. PM or ask for details.

On the other hand, there's are a handful of CM9 ICS ROMs out there. This ROM has good reviews but I haven't flashed it just yet. (Happy w AOKP! :D)

does this rom require a separately flashed kernel to work? I cant get it to boot properly... and if so, where might the best kernel for cm9 be?

A compatible kernel should be included in the ROM. Just make sure you are doing a full factory reset from within clockwork before flashing.
 
I ran AOKP ICS Milestone 6 last week to see what it was like. It took a while to find all the needed fixes, but once I got everything installed the ROM was pretty stable. Having ICS was cool, but it was just too slow for me- any type of scrolling was laggy, even the minimal, "faster-than-light" animations were slow...heck, practically everything was slow. I was using the latest ICS incredikernel with HWA, and experimented with an older Tiamat one for comparison's sake. Nothing helped.

Finally got sick of the lag and put CM 7.1 back on my Inc yesterday. Oh well. Maybe CM9 will be decent, assuming it ever comes out for the Inc.

sweeds, can you please give more details on the additional tweaks/fixes that are recommended for AOKP 6? Also, what general order do you load everything (i.e. do you load anything BEFORE you load AOKP)? I'd like to try reloading it and get it as solid as can be. Thanks!
