Is it possible to make a Stock Ice-cream sandwich rom for the triumph seeing since the SDK is out now. I want to attempt it but I don't want to waste time if its not possible.

Go for it, Ice Cream Sandwich is coming to the Nexus S and it has a 1ghz single core CPU with 512mb of ram which is very similar to the specs the Triumph has so it most likely can run it.

As stated by Google any phone that is currently running android 2.3 will be able to run 4.0, so as in my case since I'm on cm7 running 2.3.5 then I would have to say yes it can.

Do it! I've been dying to get ICS on my phone! You would be my hero man. Make sure it's overclockable and has the SmartassV2 governer, then it would be perfect =D

I thought SDK was only for developing on ICS, not actually building roms. Thats why CM9 isn't started yet.

They should be releasing the source soon. I figured he meant once the source was released. Besides, there's MIUI ROM for the Triumph and that's not open source.

Just wait for the source to release, and for CM to incorporate it into their source and then port it. There is no sense in porting a ICS build from the nexus s 4g to this phone. They are completely different.

And contrary to popular belief, just because it is ICS doesnt make it any easier to make it work on other hardware. Ihave seen threads saying that Google intended ICS to work on any hardware, but it's not the case, what they meant is they are making the features and libraries they used in the Honeycomb build work on either tablets or smartphones. That is where the hardware compatibility is. I seen people saying they thought it would be possible to put ICS on the Intercept since Google was making it work on any hardware but that is not true. The intercept would roll over and croak if you tried to put ICS on it.

And ICS is nothing more than a blue themed gingerbread with some features and implementations featured in Honeycomb made to work on both tablet and smartphone designs. I for one am not as excited for ICS as everyone else. It's not the completely redesigned OS from Google everyone was hoping for.

Agreed. I watched the presentation and did not come away impressed. I was disappointed that all they did was take ideas from already existing ROMs (Honeycomb, CM7 features, MIUI) and other mobile operating systems (Meego, WP7, iOS) and smash them together.

That said, I'm glad they've retained that "Google" feel about ICS and that they've promised legacy support for "older" hardware. Once the ICS source is released (which I'm guessing is just a massive overhaul of frameworks), CM and his team will be busy making CM8. The only thing that concerns me about ICS 4.0 is the kernel. They've bumped up to Linux 3.0 which makes our kernel (2.6.32) look very dated. The one good thing is I'm pretty sure the Triumph can handle Android 4.0.

Yeah that is going to be a big change from our kernel. I bet it will be hard getting everything working on a port to this phone for that reason. I mean don't get me wrong I'm glad google is constantly looking to upgrade their os, but it's not what I was expecting from it!

To be fair, that's the point of open source.

Not really, no. Besides the fact that WP7/iOS are not opened (and have patents on certain elements of each OS), the point of open source is to be transparent. If I don't like something or I feel like I can improve upon something, I can change at will. Just because something is open sourced, doesn't mean you should go and take other ideas and call them your own.

ICS isn't much of a big change, the only good new feature that will work perfect on the triumph is the face lock.

Edit: I thought almost all software on the triumph is outdated...

I think ICS will be good on the Triumph. To give it a different taste of something new. If I knew how to do the stuff that Isaac, tickerguy, Austrie, and b_random know how to do it I would be all over the sdk making ICS for our phones. I see already that a few phones have it, but in the alpha stage of course. Will it be on CM9?

ICS wants the 3.x Linux kernel. Good luck making it run on a 2.x kernel build. You might accomplish it but I wouldn't expect it.

It'll probably be CM8. Judging by their track record, as soon as the ICS source is dropped they'll stop working on CM7 and move on.
