APK files?

I'm in the UK, and would love to see just one app (that of The Soup, my favourite TV show). It's blocked in my country, for some reason, so I was wondering if I had a rooted phone (which I do) I'd be able to just get the APK of it and install it that way? Or would using the app still be blocked?

The reason is copyright licensing. If the owner of the material doesn't allow it to be viewed in a particular locale then I'm afraid AF has to abide by that, and cannot allow discussion of how to bypass the restriction.
