Root [APP] Android DSP (Equalizer) for Froyo

Did it? It never worked in BB 0.4, but then I switched to Smoked Glass 6 b/c I liked the SG look, and it ha an even older version pre-installed in it.

I examined the .ZIP from the dev's site, and I think I may have an answer as to why it is not working on our phones. I am gonna test a little something really quickly to see if I really do understand this process or not, and if I do I'll post back :D

Wish me luck!

I think I just amazed myself. But I have to test.

Part I: My modified .ZIP file worked in that it allowed the file to be installed and then did nto hang on reboot.

OK, so I tried replacing the METAINF folder (contains certs etc.) in the DSP.zip I downloaded with the ones from the FroYo Update - the installer looked like it workd, but nothing was actually on my system after playing around.

I then just said F it and used Root Explorer to manually copy the files to their respective locations per the dev's site.

Stuck at Moto again.

I think I'll just do v.14 and be done with it -0 as long as I get actual sound output that works on my headphones.

I am still surprised that it all of a sudden stopped working with v.15, though, when it worked perfectly well with previous versions....

OK, v.14 works perfectly fine in my phone, and yes, BT enhancement is controlled by the speaker control set.

Finally!

Hey John, thanks for checking all of that out before I started down the same path to the same conclusion :)

So, just in case you are like me and have wandered in from the cold, tinny wasteland that is Froyo, I thought I'd upload the v14 file. I might eat Boot Loops (TM) for breakfast, but I'll be f#($3d if I eat them for lunch and dinner as well.

Good idea! :)

Then Liquid's FroYo must have v.14 b/c it has it in that ROM too, but it has sliders - very hard to control sliders, but slider nonetheless.

Well **** me in the ass! Does this not work on SS 4.7? I just flashed it and all of a sudden now my phone wont boot. Gets stuck on the Motorola M!

Bleh, guess thats what I get for assuming if it works on 4.6 itd work on 4.7, yeah? *mumbles* now I gotta wait 30min for my phone to restore. Damn.

Looks like v15 only works for the HTC Hero. :( The dev now has a little disclaimer saying N1 and Droid Incredible owners report boot failures.

Stick with v14 unless he comes up with something else.

Yeah, found this out the hard way (and FWIW - when I did all that testing Up there, that disclaimer was already there - but I couldn't resist trying it out....)

i Cant seem to find the zip drive can any help me thanks and specials thanks to fab for making my $600 sound system useful again:D

Hey guys, first time Android user here, just furious with the output on my Epic. My question is, does it work on there yet? I'm rooted, but otherwise running stock. Thanks!

Johnny, have you tried using Mixzing, Astroplayer, or Boomboxroid? All have some EQ functionality to them and, before this, were better than the stock player on my phone (not a Samsung).

I've tried Astroplayer and it's really glitchy, not to mention the library functionality leaves a lot to be desires. I'll check out the other two though, thanks!

So I just tried Mixzing and it's perfect other than the equalizer only supporting certain file types. That's why I want to get this working haha. Thanks still!

Well, trying it now on 5.0.8...we'll see if she flies....

Nope,no go. Boots and sits stuck on the M logo....that totally sucks. Figures the friggin EQ I've always wanted is on a rom that refuses to work on my Droid.....
I tried installing the APK on my T-Mo Vibrant stock 2.1, it won't work. I guess it needs a 2.2 ROM.

George

I prefer the individual sliders over the parametric EQ deal as well. A little tricky to do with the finger on a small scale. I'm a bit of a tweaker...like it a little hot on the low end some songs, others I want to bring it down because it was already mixed hot on the low side. Hard to do with this thing. It needs presets badly!!!
