Help app brain vs app market

[this n00b again]

I still don't get what's so good about app brain except that it tells you there are updates available for apps you have downloaded.

is this the only PLUS, or am i missing a big picture?

You can sync apps, and check recommended apps, that is the only things I use it for, so I am unaware of any other positives

If you wipe your phone, I believe App Brain will be able to show you the previous apps you were using and reload them. Android Market has no such feature, except for purchased apps.
