[APP] GrooVe IP - Google Voice VoIP

This may have been answered, but I haven't seen it.

I live in Canada, and Google voice isn't available here. But GrooVe IP uses Google Voice for access. So does that mean GrooVe IP won't not work for me? I've already installed it, and logged in under my google account, but when i attempt to dial out, it says that it cannot complete my call.

Any recommendations?!

I live in Canada and this app works fine. Both incoming and outbound calls in 3G and wifi are flawless. I do have a separate google voice number. So, try to get a US gv # first.

I'm having a problem with the app remembering my google voice password. Under settings, I put in the password and then get the message password has been encrypted and saved but then it looses the password. App works ok immediately after this, but then forgets.

By disconnect I mean the dot turns red.

SNRB,

Ok, I figured out why it woudnt connect and I'll bet this is going to be a first for you. I've had noise problems in the past on carrier calls with my WIFI on so I found a utility that turned off WIFI when my phone made a call connection. Well apparently it also cut off WIFI when Groove IP made a connection. So I turned off the utility and now I am making calls. Havent tried receiving any yet. I'll take it one step at a time.

Just wanted to report back so you didnt waste time with this.

Thanks,

Hi, The app seems to work for a lot of people, but I have virgin mobile optimus v, and apparently google voice call forwarding is not an option through them...or maybe I'm wrong. Anyhow, I want to use it for at least outgoing calls and ingoing calls without charging my vm minutes. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or it's not possible. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

The app works great for incoming and outgoing calls, but once again a weird problem. When making a call, the callee phone rings, but if I hang up, it keeps ringing. Any suggestions to fix this?

GrooVeIP works fine through Google Voice. I have the same phone with no problems, as do several people in this thread.

How did you set up GV? Why do you not think it's an option?

Works the way its says it would...however one small issue...when I make a call to someone they so not see my google voice number in the caller id...but an unknown number...any chance it can be corrected?

That's a first. I'd suggest checking your google voice account, there may be a setting in there. I'm pretty sure we don't do anything for sending caller id, I think Google Voice adds that when we tell it to call. I'll double check.

I'll take a look. Are you on WiFi? The way it's supposed to work is we tell Google Voice to hang up and they send the disconnect to the person who's calling. The app thinks you've disconnected?

I never ever would have figured this out....ever. Glad you were able to.

Same issue here on outgoing calls.
Happens with both wifi and 3G. I called my (don't laugh) landline with GrooVe IP, and ended the call after the first ring on my mobile handset, but my phone kept ringing on the landline til it connected to VM.

I'm not laughing because I had the exact problem also with my landline. I posted this yesterday.
It happened on wifi and 3G. I have a droidx tuning gingerbread.

Is it every call? Every number or just certain ones? Do you hear ringback on the phone before you hang up? Does the in-call screen show "Ringing" or "Calling" when you hang up?

Any info you can provide will help.

My phone appears to have hung up but the other line keeps ringing. I hear nothing on my end after I have hung up. It seems to be only a problem with a landline. I called my husband' s cell and it hung up perfectly. I certainly can live with that. One great app.

Sorry, more questions. Is it a real landline or a Vonage, Optimum Voice, or some sort of VoIP landline? Also, do you let it ring multiple times and hang up or are you hanging up after the first ring? Or doesn't matter when you hang up.

Actually, it's fios, but the problem happened with Vonage as well. The joke is, it happened also with sipdroid. I have a hunch that the problem might lie with google voice. It didn't matter when I hung up.

Actual analog line from Verizon, not VOIP.
The GrooVe IP screen progressed from calling to ringing.
I heard it ring through the dialpad, let it ring three times and hung up the call from the dialpad. The landline phone kept ringing until the fourth ring when vm is set to pick it up (also tried one and two rings w/ same result)

I don't know whether this is an issue with other phones, as I haven't tried to disconnect a call when calling another person-- I was calling my home phone as a test to see if the app was working.

Thanks for the info. One thing could be that the hang up isn't instantaneous. The destination phone may ring an extra time or two, that might be crossing the threshold and causing the VM to pick up.

I'll keep trying a few more numbers, I tried my house phone which is an optimum voice number. I also don't have VM setup on my home phone.

snrb: I've also had the call destination continue to ring after hanging up. I only noticed because our PhonePower (VoIP) line was down (incoming only) for a few hours the other day, so I was calling it now and then to see if it was up again. This while on wifi.

Another small issue: Most of the time I don't here the person I've called say "hello". I've even been hung up on when they think no one is there. I try and time when they may be answering, with my own "hello". Seems I'm not getting the first 2-3 seconds. This on cellular and wifi.

Same problem here.

- Missed call notification
- Work around to block spam google chat invite emails
- Increase app priority so incoming calls are more likely to route to the app when signed in elsewhere
- Show contact pictures in the in-call screen
- Change default GrooVe IP Google Chat status to "Automated voice only GrooVe IP sign in"
- Allow users to set GrooVe IP Google Chat status to blank
- Fix an issue that caused phone's bluetooth state to reset when GrooVe IP signed out

New updates makes app work flawlessly. I am logged into gmail and chat and still connects and rings. A big thank you.

Glad it's working better :)

I can't take the credit, one of our users emailed and told us how to increase the priority for incoming calls. All we did was follow his advice.

any way to use this app when google talk is blocked by the work wifi connection? i get no phone signal where i work so i use wifi + skype which works but if i can get this app to work then no more money sent to skype.
