[APP] GrooVe IP - Google Voice VoIP

I just got the galaxy player 5.0 and when I make phone calls I know the mic works because I can hear my own voice but the voice does not transmit so the other party cannot hear me. I can hear them clear but I hear my own voice just as clear. What am I missing?

Try the Keep Screen Alive checkbox. It could be that the wifi chip is going into a power saving state

In which direction is the sound quiet? Both? You can try the wifi tablet checkbox and that may improve things. You can also increase the mic gain or speaker volume settings to make either direction louder.

Sorry guys for the slow responses. Just got back in tonight, if I missed your question please email us at snrb.labs@gmail.com[/QUOTE]

Ok my question is simalar ive been using groove ip for awhile now with no problems, all of a sudden the sound is REAL quiet almost cant hear anything at all, the person on the other end can hear me just fine, i went through all the setings and even through the troubleshooter section, but i shoulnt of had to change anything since it was working fine to begin with.so im realy hopijg y ou can answer this problem for me, im using a motorola xom with current 3.2 stock, not rooted. I just dont understand why out of the blue its doing this, when i dial the dtmf is at normal volume, but as soon as i hit the green talk button all is very quiet, evn if i press i button from the keypad after the call is in place.

Thanks,

Would check the volume setting in your device. The voice volume is a combination of the device volume setting and the volume setting in the app. If you have the device volume set lower or if something changed the device volume then sound will be quiet. You can either increase the volume on the device or increase the speaker volume in the app.

LG Optimus V:

Incoming calls: Rings a second or two on my GrooveIP default ringer and then switches if I don't pick up in time to my VirginMobile default ringer and the keypad display changes to the standard VirginMobile incoming calls. I have Google Chat checked & Mobile phone unchecked on my GV fwd options.

thx

It sounds like your calls are still being forwarded to your cell number. There are group and contact forwarding settings, I'd check those in your google voice account. Otherwise you'll have to contact the google voice support.

Each contact is set at this:

When this contact calls you, ring my:
google talk
mobile XXX-XXX-XXXX

(both are checked as default)

If you want to receive calls only with GrooVe IP you should change it so only google talk is checked.

If I do that, it overrides my settings on the main settings page (google chat or mobile #). My contacts will now always go to GrooveIP, but sometimes I need these calls to go to my Mobile # if I am in a fringe area.

The contact specific settings will override anything you set in the main area. So if you have it forwarded to both, GrooVe IP will ring, then when the native phone system receives the call it will start ringing. If your service can not do voice and data at the same time that will cause GrooVe IP to disconnect since the data connection is lost.

snrb,

Just wanted to thank you for the great support you have been offering everyone here. I think your app is great and am really looking forward to the iOS version. If you need anyone else to help as a beta tester let me know!

Thanks! Glad you like the app. We generally post beta versions on our facebook page. So if you're interested that would be the best place to get them.

Hi snrb,

Out calling on wifi no one can hear me at all currently (I can hear them fine)
What is the magic setting that allows recipient to hear me.

I am running Advanced Wifi lock.
In Gv Ip troubleshooting, I enabled
Keep screen alive.
Audio processing.
Audio routing.
will this help?

thx
z

I don't know what type of device you have. But I would disable Audio Routing. Should not have Audio Routing and Audio processing both on. I'd also recommend updating to version 1.2.9 if you are using an older version of the app.

I'm trying to set GrooveIP to answer only when on Wifi (which is nights and weekends for me). I want my 3G cell to answer during the day, and looking for a way to automate this. In Google Voice, I notice there is a "Ring Schedule" under Chat. If I check both forwarding to Chat and to my cell, and set the Chat ring schedule to nights and weekends, will this cause forwarding to go to Chat/GrooveIP only on rings? Otherwise call will get forwarded to Cell? I'm about to try it, if it works it will be great!

edit: Doesn't work. Calls seem to get picked up by Chat first, and if set not to ring they just goes straight to VM.

We've never tried that setting. If you do try it, let us know if it works the way you want.

If not, you can do it with Tasker and the GV plugin. Will cost you a bit of money, but Tasker can replace quite a few apps on your phone...

You may also need to set the cell phone to NOT ring at the same time as GChat is on.

Also try setting the Voicemail greeting msg to longer than 45 seconds. I just learned that GV won't detect a phone pickup on voicemail until the beep, in case the celll phone picks up with voicemail too soon.

I never have Chat "on". How do you set cell NOT to ring, at GV or on the phone itself? I do want the cell to ring if I get a call to my GV# (using cell network) during the day. At 6:00 PM my phone switches to Wifi (no cell signal at home), so I want GV# calls to go through Groove IP at night.

I "think" having forwarding set to both as I do, and turning off data during the day, that is happening. I don't get a lot of calls, but that's my goal. The data/wifi switching is easily done with "Power Schedule" app (free).

Can you add the google voice text messaging feature like talkatone? with native text messaging just like the native recent call history feature?

We've looked into adding SMS support but have been told it would violate Google's terms of service. So unless Google changes the terms of service we will not be able to provide Google Voice SMS support in GrooVe IP. You can use the Google Voice android app to send and receive SMS through Google Voice.

it's a hassle to switch between 2 programs back and forth, when it can be integrated into 1 app. Thanks anyways though.

Great app. Just bought it. Took some time to get it to work though. It seems that the app often logs me out. NO calls come through. Is there a setting which can keep me constantly logged in?

There are a few things that could cause the app to be signed out. First would be the network connection or device going into a power saving state. You can use the partial wake lock and high perf wifi lock in the GrooVe IP settings. The other would be a task killer or battery manager app killing GrooVe IP's background service. Last would be android itself killing the background service when it needs resources. This will happen more often if you've moved the app to the sdcard.
