Thanks to Private Read for WhatsApp your contacts will not know that you are reading their messages. In this way you can read them and not respond, see first of all what they write to you and recover your privacy. Hide your online status, read incognito whatsapps without leaving notices or blue read marks.

Your friends will not know that you saw their messages and you can decide what to do before they know you read them. You will appear to them as if you were offline, when you are really reading their chats. Hide your real WhatsApp status.

Imagine that you want to listen a whatsapp audio or see a chat message without them knowing that you are connected.
that's the thing, why would i not want them to know? why should i care about something like that? i can't see a reason why i need to be sneaky, especially if it is someone i know.

I think you don't know enough teenagers. ;)

Seriously, when my daughter was 16 I remember that some of her friends were very sensitive about how long it took you to reply to a message they sent (and to be fair I remember her complaining about how long some people took to reply, though she didn't get weird if you didn't respond in minutes the way some of them did). So if she didn't have time to reply just then she would often read the notification but not interact with it or enter the app so that they wouldn't know she'd seen it.

For adults, sure, it doesn't matter.
