I recently upgraded my MotoX (2nd gen) to android version 5.1 and now it spends about 10 minutes every time I reboot reoptimizing all the applications. Any thoughts on how to eliminate this problem

So it's optimising every app? That should only happen after a reset or Dalvik wipe.
I'm stumped. It's an interesting (But annoying I'm sure) one
Maybe a reflash Emon?

Cache and dalvik are completely different and that's not the case with the OP, so that's out. This is rather weird, once in a while my phone will say it's optimizing apps but it's only one and it only takes a couple of seconds every couple of reboots.

Same.
And does dalvik cache even exist in lollipop (hung up my flashing boots with kitkat)?
Like do LP custom recoveries even have the option to wipe it?
(sorry this is going off topic or as I prefer to call it "brain storming")

Yeah dalvik is still there, it's just compiled once at install time instead of every time you launch an app. And yeah recoveries work independent of your android version so you still have the option to wipe it in custom recoveries.
EDIT: what EarlyMon said lol

I'm having this same issue but after every reboot the upgraded apps need to be updated. I have to update the same 20+ apps every time I reboot my phone! I have no idea what is causing this. I've reflashed stock ROM and custom ROM and it still does this. I've cleared cache, dalvik, etc. I've deleted and reinstalled the apps and am out of ideas what to try next. Any ideas?
