Root [APP]PDroid Patches (Permissions management/Privacy Control)

plasticarmyman

Android Expert
I'm going to patch most of the current ROM's that are available and post the patches here...

here's what the Original post says about PDroid

PDroid allows blocking access for any installed application to the following data separately:
  1. Device ID (IMEI/MEID/ESN)
  2. Subscriber ID (IMSI)
  3. SIM serial (ICCID)
  4. Phone and mailbox number
  5. Incoming call number
  6. Outgoing call number
  7. GPS location
  8. Network location
  9. List of accounts (including your google e-mail address)
  10. Account auth tokens
  11. Contacts
  12. Call logs
  13. Calendar
  14. SMS
  15. MMS
  16. Browser bookmarks and history
  17. System logs
  18. SIM info (operator, country)
  19. Network info (operator, country)
For device ID, phone and mailbox number, SIM serial, subscriber ID and device location it also allows supplying custom or random values.

Why you would want to use it:
  • Applicaitons do NOT crash when access to private data is blocked (unlike with Permissions Denied or CM)
  • Fine-grained tuning of access to private data
  • No background service needed
  • Very small memory footprint (~700KB)
  • No impact on battery life
  • No impact on performance (5ms overhead on access to private data; yes, that's 0.005s)
  • 100% reliable unlike ROOT applications (LBE), which need to start their background service on boot (see android underground to learn why this is an issue)
  • No ROOT required for the app to run
  • No Android permissions required for the app to run
  • Open-source

here are most of the rom patches:

Reppard: Apply zip Restore zip

Backside: Apply zip Restore zip

PG's CM7: Apply zip Restore zip

ICS theme GB: Apply zip Restore zip

MIUI is currently odexed, so i cannot patch it unless someone gives me a deodexed zip of it

IF YOU WANT A ROM PATCHED SEND ME A PRIVATE MESSAGE AND I WILL TRY TO DO IT IN A TIMELY MANNER...BUT YOUR BEST BET IS TO DO IT YOURSELF

You can always just follow the instructions on the original post to patch your own rom that you're using, it does have to be a 2.3 rom, deodexed, and rooted

but here they are just in case

Installation Instructions:
  • BACKUP YOUR ROM
  • put the patch on your SD card
  • Boot your device into your custom (CWM) recovery (OM: vol down + home + power)
  • If you flashed the patch before but PDroid said it still was not installed, then select "mount /system"
  • Select "install zip from sdcard"
  • Select "choose zip from sdcard"
  • Select the PDroid patch you have put on your SD card
  • After flashing is finished, reboot the device
  • Install the PDroid app from the Android Market

i take no responsibility for you not following directions and messing your phone up
i take no responsibility for your phone
i take no responsibility for anything really...not even my own actions most of the time....
if you mess up your phone wile doing this you may want to head to the xda link and ask them for help...

i don't know the in's and out's of this app, i did not design it or make it...i simply used the patcher to make these patches for the people who want to use them, and to spread the knowledge of a privacy protection app...

for help and guidance you can ask me questions but i do not promise knowledgeable answers, or any answers at all.

Post this in the Optimus V All Things Root as well. There's a lot of ROM devs over there. Especially on AndroidCentral too.

Hi,
I would love to use this application but I am struggling with some informations.
I am running a Motorolla Razr Maxx and have savestrap installed.
with safestrap I get a propper nandroid backup
it comes as:
cache.ext3.tar
data.ext3.tar
system.ext3.tar
systemorig.ext3.tar and a nandroid checksum file.

But, for the windows quick patcher I needs a zipfile. I have no idea how to manage this step either could not find any thread at xda-developers or other forums.
Do I need to untar and Zip one of these packs??
I also istalled goo, rom manager and Online Nandroid backup...none of the tools making a zip file.
could you please point me in the right direction?
Many thanks!!
