App that shuts down everything when screen is off..

Samsung11

Newbie
Hi guys,

I downloaded "Battery Guardian" because i needed an app that shuts down 'almost' everyting as soon as the screenlock gets activated.. . I'm not sure if it's the best in this kind of apps but what are your comments about it and do you know better apps then this one?

Thank you,

I myself am looking for a app or setting that ends all.like cynogenmod has the function to hold down the back button to kill all apps.is their any thing like that for a non cm ROM.

Do you mind me asking why? Task killing apps like that actually have a negative impact on battery life (if that's why you want it).

Are you sure??? Because since i use "Battery Guardian" which is a great app that only runs in the background my battery lasts 12hours while it was 5 or 6 hours.....

Try "Battery Guardian" m8... since i use it my battery lasts double so much time!!! And what is so great of the app too that it only runs in the background and you see nothing of it.... .

Go for it!!! :-):-):-)

It's not bad for the battery, it's bad for the OS. Google themselves have come out and debunked the whole task killer thing, they've not been needed since Android 2.1.

If your battery is lasting twice as long, it means you've probably got a rogue app chewing in to your battery and battery guardian is killing it. If you were to investigate and uninstall the app or kill it manually, that would have the same effect.

I can't see the app you mention on Play, does it do anything else, like control radios etc?

Yes ok but how can i find the rough app then?? There are so many apps it's hard to find it!!

And ok bad for the os but in which way can it harm it??? Don't say that it will crush my whole phone though.... ?????

Search good and you will find it... "Battery Guardian".... i can find it easily so you must be too.....

If it's not compatible with my devices, it won't come up when I search for it.

If it's the app by Griffin HQ, that doesn't kill apps, that shuts down your data connections when you turn your screen off.

I don’t think it’s actually killing anything...

It will shut down your data connections once you turn your screen off and all applications have stopped downloading information from the internet.

edit: oops, forgot to link the quote.

edit 2: with it running and a big test app downloading via 3G, I turned the screen off when it got to 50%. According to this description, when I turn the screen on, the download, having been interrupted, should still be about 50%, right?

Wrong, it was fully downloaded. So it apparently doesn’t do nuthin...

Hi guys.... believe it or not but today i had the same problem again and needed to format my phone again g*dd*mned!!!!

Now i had enough of these stupid "killer apps" and deleted them because i have these problems since i use them!!!! Now i agree that it's really not good for the OS.....

The test you ran should have the exact results if the app does exactly what it says. It claims to turn off data when 2 conditions are fulfilled:
1) screen off and
2) all apps stop downloading info from the internet.

With a download in progress, the second condition has not been fulfilled so it will NOT turn off data connections.

I see what they're doing. They're trying to allow things to complete before killing data which makes sense. This might allow Spotify, for example, to continue streaming when the screen shuts off.
