Help App to skip startup?

If unrooted all you can do is silence it: Silent Boot | AppBrain Android Market Otherwise the phone needs that much time to boot up anyway. Gets longer and longer the more apps you add. I'm rooted and use "Quickboot", but still takes 2 or 3 minutes. I replaced the VM sound with the THX opening sound, not nearly as annoying.

Do you mean the Virgin splash screen and sound effect/dude talking thing? That lasts a whopping 3 seconds. I grant that it's annoying though! :)

What you are seeing is the phone and operating system booting up. I really don't know why you're complaining, have you ever seen the boot times for a Blackberry? A minute or so to not is actually pretty quick. Remember, you are starting both a cell phone and the Android operating system.

Yeah, no kidding. Blackberrys take around 5-10 minutes to boot up once you get a few apps on them.

I guess if you came from a dumbphone or iPhone (arguably the same thing :p), it could seem like a long time. Coming from Blackberry, the boot time seems like nothing to me.

I guess I've never understood what the issue is with the phone starting up. And yeah, I came from BB and yeah, it took as long as booting my desktop. I just left it alone and made eggs or something. What's the hurry?

I have 120 downloaded apps, plus the pre- installed apps. Just shut power off, then turned on. It only took 2 min. 40sec.

What is there to complain about?

If the start-up sound of a girl saying "virgin mobile" bothers you, there is a free app called Silent Boot. It works well.

My phone takes 40 seconds to get to the home screen and another 45 seconds for all the apps and widgets to appear.

The IT department at a place I used to work at once issued a memo stating they would no longer answer questions on how to make Windows boot faster. As if everyone was asking so they could be more productive... :)
