Root [APP] universalandroot (1-Click Root)

Help please :(
I downloaded and installed fine. I clicked "root". I THOUGHT it said it worked fine. Then installed Titanium Backup. Says it's not rooted.

Tried to "un-root". Said it's not rooted.
Tried to "root". Said it failed after the steps it goes through.

Any ideas what could be wrong? Thanks! :)

Thanks. I'm trying that now, but it finishes and in the notification area, it says it failed.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong...? And thanks for the help :)

It appears a new version (1.6.2 beta 5) is available: blog.23corner.com

I'm having trouble posting a link to his website so hopefully that will work.

It appears he took my suggestion and the xbin folder is now used for su.

So if we did this with v 1.6.1 as posted previously, do we need to do it with 1.6.2 beta 5? Will this help with updating to Froyo at all, since it uses the xbin folder now?

So hypothetically, I could unroot my phone using this method? I used 1 click windows to root, then reroot using universal...and be fine when I do the official update to 2.2..I'd still be rooted?

Ideally I'd unroot via the same method used to root.

I'm still on 2.1, but others have said using xbin for su was how they kept root after upgrading and that's what this method uses.

Just got my DX today and just performed the universal root. I shut the phone off and now it will not come back on. I didn't check the version, but is it possible that it could have been already at 2.2 and doing the root bricked it?

Please help.

So I just rerooted with this version, but when I do a root explorer I see SU is in both the bin and xbin folders. Does this matter? Can I install a leaked 2.2 when I choose to and still have root with this situation?

Hey all, I have a question. I tried out the androot last night and it worked fine. When I went to unroot (just testing things out), it unrooted as well just fine, but I still have the Superuser permissions app in my list. How do I get rid of that?

Ok I did a quick search and came up with nothing. What app do you use to tether?

I downloaded the wireless tether to try out. Aside from that, pdanet.

I'm not hugely concerned about it.. phone works fine. Just don't like that I can't get it to go away, so if I ever had issues I couldn't return the phone. Might just restore it back to original with the sbf.

Newbie question: I rooted using Universal Androot. Then, I tried unrooting. Androot indicated I was unrooted, but the Superuser app is still there and I still have access to Systems folders using Astro. How do I know I'm unrooted.

Apparently the bin\su is leftover from the previous root. You should be able to use root explorer or a similar program and delete that file.

I doubt it matters tho.

Try rebooting the phone.

This app shows up as a virus threat by my antivirus program. In fact, it uninstalled my antivirus somehow. I don't really need root anyway so I uninstalled then reinstalled the anitvirus app.
