Hmm, I probably would like my S3 better then my iPhone so far. discussions.apple.com, and other apple forums are mainly stuck up, don't care, rude, and the list goes on. I do still go to those forums because I have an apple iPod Classic. When you don't understand something they are rude about it. They are on the expensive side as well. If we want to say something then I don't get it just cuz of copying designs for a competition and apple sues? Why don't nokia sue apple for apple copying the rectangular from nokia? That's what I don't like about apple. Agree or disagree?
 
I guess the Apple vs Android debate will never end. We are all bless to have the choice to choose any of these os, whether it's Android, Apple and Windows. It's just an individual preference nothing more nothing less. Choose the one best fit your needs and be happy, live and laugh.
 
Right :D

There is no definitive or clinical answer or conclusions as to what is better. It is purely preference. I love Android but I don't pick on my friends who are iPhone users ;)

I think Android is more customizable. I also think the iPhone is a very solid device.

I have seen some pretty heated debates on this and I have seen people lower themselves to calling the opposing side names haha! I am pretty firm on believing that this forum is friendlier than most if not all forums I have been a part of so for that.. I am proud to be an Android user! ;)
 
Apple does some things "right", but I think they do a LOT of things "wrong" as well.

All in all, I roll with android because its doing more "right" in my eyes.

Android isn't for everyone though.

There's a lot I don't like about Apple, including the fact that it's so keen on suing people for copying when it copies so much itself - take a look at the LG Prada and tell me the iPhone form factor was original. Apple kit is also crazy expensive.

On the other hand, it is usually beautiful and almost always beautifully built - I can't think of any droid with better build quality than an iPhone.

Also, while Apple kit doesn't always 'just work', it does tend to have less issues than most. You can argue that's because the rigidity of the Apple way means their kit does less, but I can understand how some people prefer having something that does fewer things well rather than lots of things, some poorly.

As everyone has said, it's good to have a choice. I'd actually like more choice: I'd like to see Windows and BB take more of the market.

I'd like it, but not enough to actually buy one :)
 
I have both an iPhone 5 and the new HTC One. I am neither an isheep nor a Fandroid (or perhaps i'm both).

I agree that Apple does some things better than Android and vice versa too. A lot of my friends who sit firmly in one camp will ridicule those in the other and basically I think it's a bit sad. Buy and use what works for you and sod everyone else's opinion, is my motto.
 
I have the iPhone 4 for about a year ot two, and I got the S3 I ordered on this past Feburary 11th, and I like and rate the support for the S3 better and more user friendlier.

The only Apple product I still have and still use is my iPod Classic 160GB, and the Classic is older and it doesn't use flash, but it uses a real hard drive. Thats my current Apple product.
 
My preference is Android, but I do understand why the iPhone appeals to so many people. My impression is that the iPhone gives a better first impression upon people than many Android phones in the past. It is not until you actually use the devices for a while before you really get a good sense of how much more you can do with an Android phone. For some people, an iPhone does enough for them well enough. For others, they may encounter some limitations of the iPhone that is not experienced on Android. People are different enough that no one device or class of devices is going to be the right one for everyone.
 
I personally don't have a problem with people choosing different phones - what really gets on my nerves is the way the media just assumes everyone has an iPhone. Seeing comments like "everyone had their iPhones out and was taking pictures", or "what's on your iPod?", or "should you let your kids use your iPad?" really annoy me.

It's almost as irritating as "X app, available for your iPhone. Android version coming later". Given around 90% of the world now uses Android, shouldn't this be the other way around?"

Yeah. I hate it when everyone keeps calling my facial tissue, Kleenex. I use Puffs. :mad: ;)

I find it really annoying that some apps for Android are really substandard and/or configured too much like an iPhone app. Banking apps are the worse. I complained about the lack of landscape mode for my Transformer tablet and the developer told me to use the mobile web site. :mad:

^I agree with this.

My reasoning behind the delayed app release is because they'd have to adjust the app so all the numerous mid-to-high range android devices can run the app smoothly. Just a guess

And to the general iOS vs Android:
I'm fine with people choosing the OS that bests suits them, but the people who used a terrible low range Android like the low-end HTCs judge Android phones because of their bad experience with a low end device. Then they wag their iPhone 5 around saying that Apple is completely better than Android by comparing a $200 android to a $600+ iPhone without trying to compare it to a high-end Android device.
But, whatever. :) Coming from an iPhone 4, I can say that iOS was too boring for me even after jailbreaking.
 
Choose whatever works for you but...

As a Nexus 4 user I'll say this...

No iPhone 5, jailbroken or not, can touch a Nexus 4, rooted or not. Android 4.2.2 out of the box on an N4 is leaps and bounds far more flexible and friendly than an iPhone 5.

Big woop that the iOS 6.x has deep Facebook and Twitter integration. Android has long had deep integration with a multitude of apps dating back to the early days via intents, which allows for one app to share with another. The list of apps which support intents is staggering.

I'm just freestyling here and directing this not at anyone in this thread, or forum for that matter, but at Apple itself for conning people into thinking that its platform is so superior based on the above paragraph, amongst many other reasons. I could go on but I'll stop here.

I agree with the assumption about Iphone. My car player has a connection for an Iphone or Ipod, an RCA connection that will take a player like the Sansa, and a USB port. A lot of the selection type services only work on an Idevice.

You can find a lot of interesting stuff, but it only has a connection for an Idevice.

Facebook and Twitter integration that I can't get rid of would kill any phone for me. Should I want Twitter, I'll use an app or go through a browser.

First . . . do not blame Apple for the patent fights and issues. There is far more to this than a casual observer might realize.

And Nokia IS suing Apple or they did. I am not sure what is going on these days, but Mr. Google will help you if you want the sordid details..

Android is a great OS. Most Android phones are great phones. Apple makes great products. The iPhone is a great phone.

We have so many Android phones (IMHO) because the OS is essentially free and it is likely, IMHO, that if Android did not exist, we would see fewer phones out there. Apple will NOT license iOS, period. If they did, IMHO, we would see lots of iOS powered devices. Again, my opinion.

All about personal choice, and in many cases; effective Apple marketing, word of mouth and a few unreasonable fan-boys making Apple what it is.

Android has a few unreasonable fan-boys, too.

I am just pleased we have so many choices for phones and tablets. Android, iOS, Blackberry, Microsoft and Ubuntu. Thousands of models over the last few years and more on the way.

An iPhone is not really more expensive. Those $99.00 Android phones CAN still cost you as much as an iPhone. Eventually. When your contract is up, you will be buying an Android phone at iPhone prices.

As for the lawsuits . . . the topic is well bashed about in multiple threads on the AF. We all have our opinions. I have mine, EarlyMon usually has a few very reasonable things to say and everyone else piles on, taking all five sides of the argument/debate. Many viewpoints, ideas and thoughts.

So, let me say this: Apple has patents and they must protect them. They must protect them for many, many reasons. I am not saying I agree in all cases and Apple is by no means the only company headed to court to defend their IP, for reasons the casual observer finds silly. Some I find silly and a few, not so much.

Some say many of these patents should be invalidated and I tend to agree, in many cases. I have been researching Patent Trolls for some time now, and there are evil people out there suing at the drop of a hat. Until you get into the details, you cannot imagine just how abused the system is.

Sometimes, the good guys are not good and the bad guys are not so bad and then the trolls arrive to make things much worse. They patent something and immediately sure everyone in sight, hoping for a settlement. One does not know if their carefully designed product will be sued out of existence before it gets a chance to grow, because they fear being sued.

Many victims are fighting back and some suits are being tossed. We need a drastic overhaul of the USPTO.

So was I fair?

Trying to be fair is often difficult because people love their devices and they think their choice is the best choice. Not arguing with your opinion because it is just that. I and others might like the integration and some might hate it.

All I know is my next phone will be better than yours because the next one is a few years away and the tech evolves rapidly these days.

We all have ideas, thoughts and opinions. Some are valid and some are silly, but that is MY OPINION.

I know for an absolute fact that my choice is the best one. For me. I look at two factors: no contracts and a big screen. This removes the iPhone from the list of prospects.

As for Apple conning people, we call it marketing savvy. The often chided fan-boy is something those on the Android side would love to have. They cannot crack the nut, but perhaps someone will find a way to persuade Apple lovers to love Android. Perhaps TC will help them along the way?

The S3 commercial of a few months ago was brilliant without being in your face. And the S3 was the best phone out there at the time.
 
Well I am just really glad we all have our own choices to buy what ever we want to! :)

But if you really want freedom then people should really just make (or seriously try to at least) some kind of device where every single component is not soldered onto the mobo.

It would be great if I could add a gig of ram (or what ever seems reasonable! :)) somehow later down the line or maybe somehow change the cpu if i wanted to so I don't have to fork out lots of money for a new device. :)

That to me is real freedom but maybe I am asking for too much or it may be more expensive than I think.

I think so at least.

I hope I am not barking up the wrong tree here and maybe all of this is way off topic but I am very interested for an answer from som one that maybe knows what I am talking about... or maybe knows the answers I am looking for.

But a have a lot of extremely interesting memories from when I used to jailbreak my iPhone 3GS...

It is a very solid device I must say.

Both construction and OS wise.

It is very good.

I decided to jail break after I found out that you CAN'T get an SDK for Ubuntu and / or Windows because I wanted to try compile and make my .ipa "Hello World" famous program for my iPhone.

I was pretty disappointed that I found out you have to use a Mac to get the SDK....

Anyway to cut a long story short I found something very very very very very interesting when I was taking a look at certain folders and files on my iphone 3GS once it had been jailbroken so I could see certain folders that were made available to me with a file browser.

There was a hell of a lot of very similar folders I see in Linux all the time.

I think I can still remember a few but I can't 500% remember if these spcific ones I say here were there or not but it is very worrying nonetheless.

AND on TOP of that all I couldn't believe it when I saw freaking .deb!!!!!

There were freaking Debian stuff running as I watched the Jail break happen!

I thought:

How is this possible?

How are they legally allowed to do that and get away with software that is meant to be free and open source when they are selling it!?

Linux (Debian in this case) is open source so if Apple is selling their Mac OS 10 and / or iOS and it is re branded but it is Linux under the hood then why have they not being sued into oblivion?

Maybe I am really stupido and I have no idea what I am talking about but it is still very dodgy stuff to me.

I did not like what I saw.

But maybe I am just el stupdio gringo. :)

I hope this was not off topic sorry this thread brought that back to my attention!

Apple is a company and Android is a platform which Google owns. The debate will stop when either one of them is gone. You must think. Will we still be using Android in 30+ years? Possibly, assuming that it evolves into something that we can take full advantage of.

There will always be a tech war going on. But thats good because it drive competition for them to make better products.
 
anyone with an apple logo tattoo... looses several respect points on my list.
that goes for android too... or similar logo/icons
