Apple at it again

I've come to the conclusion that there's little reason to pay attention to the patent wars. It'll only drive you crazy and nothing will come of it in the long run. Apple will continue its wasteful litigious path till Google gets moto's ip when the whole mess will flip. Eventually they'll come to licensing agreements and start the whole war over again on another front. Rinse and repeat.

This time they're suing Samsung over (among other things) their use of voice search on the Gnex, a feature that Apple copied from Android. This is hilarious.

If Siri (when it was a company) filed for the patent before Google implemented its voice search, then Apple does have a case as it now owns any patent that Siri has.

I don't think general ideas should be patentable--only specific implementations. Imagine if instead of patents for particular motors, we just had a patent for "Electronic- or gas-powered object that moves people or other objects." Ridiculous.

It's possible, but it wouldn't hold any weight because I can guarantee that Siri was not the first program out there to provide users with voice search functionality. In any case, I'm not even sure that Siri came out before Google Voice Commands.

They're suing on the grounds that Google Voice Commands is infringing "on patents underlying features customers expect from Apple products." Customers have only come to expect voice search functionality from Apple products since last year.

Apple is in Panic mode because the only talented person they had died. Now they will fall down a deep dark hole. Microsoft will buy them out. Someone will shout they are a monopoly and Bill will give them the finger and say yeah so. and our Government will ask Mr Gates if he will consider splitting the company and he will tell them to stick it they will say yes sir. and then our children will be required to say the Gates Anthem every day.
