Apple sues HTC and said mostly because of Nexus One & Moto Droid & HTC Droid Eris

Jobs is just mad because every empire he built, somebody (Gates, Google, HTC) have built a bigger better empire...He just wants to get on top! The Iphone SUCKS since droid has arrived! He is scared people will jump ship! and then to top it off he sells the Iphone to AT&T...What a MORON!!! but also glad he didnt get a chance or rather Verizon didn't take a risk and sell a SH*tty phone!!!

: I agree they are making them selves look worst trying to sue HTC!!! HTC was one of the first to market a smart phone, so hopefully they have a few patents of their sleeves!!! GO HTC AND GOOGLE!!! Chop that sour tastes like sh*t apple tree down!!!

Wow what an educated response. Obviously an Andriod fan boi to the max. If Apple, IBM, Google, HTC, whoever builds a better phone people will buy it.

Look at the sales performance last December for the iPhone and look at all of the Android unit sales combined. Apple smoked Google...

This patent fight isn't about losing market share, Google has a long way uphill battle to break even with Apple at this point.

If anybody has followed Steve jobs he get's really pissed when you copy his technology and claim it as your own. I think most people would respond the same way.

Some of the iPhone problems on my kid's phone are AT&T problems, such as getting timeout errors during downloads, etc.

But not all are (she's getting ready to dump if for a Tour which a friend has); that thing will randomly freeze, even when it's just sitting there after a minute or two of use.. she'll look at it and see that the screen froze half way in the middle of fading to sleep and it takes a battery pull to get it operational again.

Many other ongoing issues.

She's been on the phone a lot with tech support.

All technology has bugs and problems, no such technology has been invented yet nor ever will be. I had a problem with my iPhone also and got a Eris, however millions of people have iPhones and use them everyday error free.

"...millions.. every day.. error free.." :D

Ok.

User reviews can be helpful, especially the ones for a device that has been out for a long time and has a large pool to draw from.

The very best are comparative reviews by users who have experience with more than one device. I'd love to see a poll of iPhone users who have switched to any Android device, perhaps vice versa as well, although I'll just bet there are a lot more people moving away from iPhone to other devices than from Android to iPhone.

I don't think I've heard anyone move from Android to somewhere else because they didn't like the platform. It's always been an issue with the carrier and coverage or just the phone itself. Never the OS.

think this will be the end off iphone era.

eventually they will lose if not to htc

steve jobs will be forever be a special person, this is just like a repeat of history with apple filing suit against manufactures and software companies playing the safe ground (google)

Poor steve jobs

Seems that way from where I sit as well.

Android is quite impressive, as hand held device software goes. Very well developed and is on its way to displacing the iPhone, I feel. Thus the law suits.

I could be wrong about that view, but it seems like that's what's up, especially with power houses like Google in on it. That Nexus One must have really, really irked the Apple folks something terrible.

Analysts agree with you or at least an analyst.

OMG another phone has multi-touch....off with their heads

If I recall correctly, the lawsuit doesn't have much to do with multi-touch. Some of the IP is scrolling behavior, lock screens, application cataloging, etc. Multi-touch isn't one of the problems.

it cannot multitask (so it sucks!)
you cannot load any app from anywhere unless you jail break it (so it sucks!)
the eris has sense and multiple screens and all kind of fancy apps to make the screens way better looking than the original (the iphone cant so...the eris beats it!)
the google integration with the eris makes the iphone...look dated! (so it sucks!)
the ability to add widgets...pricesless! (so the iphone sucks!)
lastly...REMOVABLE BATTERY!
iphone is for followers. android is for people who wanna do their own thing. and the iphone will not let you do that so...IT SUCKS!
also, my i730 which came out way before the iphone looks ALOT like the iphone...but with a keyboard :)
</title></head>"+"<body onload='if (!window.parent.StateManager || window.parent.StateManager.frameSaving) return;"+"window.parent.StateManager.restore(decodeURIComponent(document.body.innerText));'>"+enc(b)+"</body></html>");c.close();a.frameSaving=

Jailbreaking is easy and allows you to customize and widget very similar to the Eris.

200,000+ apps! Why would you need to look elsewhere?

My phone will be replaced long before the stock battery dies anyway.

Multitasking I will give you, but it is rare that i use this feature anyway other than listening to music while reading email. Either way you still have to go to Home or open the program pane to switch programs, so it isn't like i can really multi-task with multiple things in view.

The Apple UI is still slicker, smoother. The Maps have integrated compass that orients the map to the way the device is facing. The music app is still better at organizing things and plays with higher fidelity IMO (and better video quality too). Faster processor too.

Don't get me wrong I LOOOOOOVE my Eris. But I would be hard pressed to say it is vastly superior to the 3GS in much but the network that it runs on. Different yes. More versatile because of the open source OS, yes. But inherently better as a device, not so sure.

Why compare a 99$ phone with the 3gs. Compare the 3gs to a nexus one and see which is faster?

the original iphone came out months and months ago. try like years ago. so it's hard to compare the original or 3gs since they have been out for a while because the google nexus one is like brand new so it's going to be faster. duhhh

if apple made a newer iphone i am sure they would make it so it would be faster and better than the nexus one but i doubt they will because there contract is up at the end of this year with at&t. they will prob. bring the phone to verizon and make one for verizon. at that point shit no one will want at&t. lol

Not sure if this has been posted somewhere already, but here's a great briefing written as it concerns the history of technology patent lawsuits and how Apple's suit against HTC really doesn't fall into historical categories. The author, who I presume is a patent attorney, lists the potential reasons for the suit, what Apple hopes to achieve and leaves us with the big question of what Google's role will be both now in terms of standing behind it's hardware partner, HTC and in the future, i.e. initiating it's own lawsuit against Apple. Some very interesting food for thought.

Patent Litigation Weekly: Digging Beneath the Surface of Apple v. HTC

Whether or not the iphone is better than any droid (which for the record imo its crap), Apple better tread lightly here. They are small if you add up Google and the 20+ manufacturers using android. They could be tied up for a long time in litigation if all the manufacturer's start going through their patents and coming back at apple. Apple could possibly win these patent battles. Though they could have 20+ manufacturers coming right back at them. Apple could very well get themselves tied up in a lot of litigation and red tape. You know a lot of these manufacturers were making mp3 type playing devices before the ipod got so big. I have a feeling that apple is barking up the wrong tree. The mice will play when the cat a way, but when it returns it's going to be ugly. I wonder just what companies have been warned. I imagine several could already be gearing up for when Apple tries to strike first blood on them.

I'm not no lawyer but in the matter of the screen lock couldn't they argue its a user defined pattern versus a preset pattern. That essentially makes it different. We all know that Jobs isn't going to give iphone users the ability to change their lock pattern on their iphones. He's to much of a control freak for that.

Yeah 8M iPhones sell a quarter so yes millions..

"Today Goldman Sachs told The Wall Street Journal that Google's initial sales figures were disappointing and that it is expecting Google to sell just 1 million Android-powered Nexus Ones this year. That's down from the original 3.5 million in sales the firm first projected."
