Root Apps 2 SD

First, you really don;t need to on the X, as it has 8 gigs just for app storage (way too much) I have over 250 apps and have not been able to hit 2 gig yet. Moving apps to your SD card will only use up space on your SD card, when you have excess space for the apps already.

However if you want to there are apps that you can download, or Froyo and Gingerbread have it built in to an extent where you can just go to settings and applications and then manage applications and pick the app and if it can be moved click on move to SD Card.

Thank you. im not really worried about the space per say. Its just that sometimes they remove good apps from the Market and I would like to have the ability to keep them say.....when i flash a new ROM and my apps have to redownload and the said app has been removed.

I am not sure if that would help however by moving them to your SD card that way.

What you need is Titanium Back-up this creates a back-up of the file and stores it on your SD card. It keeps the apk and data for the app. Then when you flash a new ROM you can restore without having to go to the market to get the app.

Yep. Installing the app on your SD card doesn't allow you to just keep it there across ROMs or move it from phone to phone. You either need to use Ti Backup (if you want to keep the app data), or copy the APK from your /data/app directory on your phone (if you just want to reinstall it).

OK, so I got a lil confused. Thanks guys!

Oh side note.....lately when I try to do a nandroid backup it seems to not want to make one?

Can someone refresh me on the steps?

I have been following Rooolers Guide but it seems when I follow the steps it never saves anymore after GB

- Launch Droid 2 Bootstrap (or use Droid X Bootstrap with USB debugging unchecked under Settings > Applications > Development)

- Click "Bootstrap Recovery" to make sure the recovery mechanism is installed. It should say "Success"

- Click "Reboot Recovery" and it should reboot into Clockwork Recovery.

- Select Backup and Restore, then select Backup.

And then use ROM Manager to rename the backup to something recognizable if you like to switch around between ROMs and themes.
