Root Apps failing to update (package file invaild)

Can anyone help with this problem that i have been having for it seems like forever?

some of my apps update just fine, and others are a royal pain in the ass.

I can never do a batch update, I have to update each one of them one by one.

I have tried clearing the market cache, restarting multiple times, and uninstalling, and re installing the app... most times when i uninstall the app i have a hell of a time trying to get it back. After multiple reboots, and times trying to install i just might get lucky and it work.

I feel like this may have to do with the rom I am running..

I am running Sinister RLV9 with Aggressive Freedom universal kernel

Any help would be greatly appreciated

do you have titanium backup and the pro key as well? if you have the pro key, there is a market doctor that you can use to re-link the apps to the market and that should help you update your apps.

also try and wipe dalvik cache and cache.

I'm sorry I should have clarified better.. The apps are failing to update. It is giving the me error "package file invalid"

And I don't believe that I have ever partitioned the SD card

Rom is Sinister RLV9

ok so how much room do you have on your phone? it sounds like you migh be running out of room on your phone. how many apps do you have?

also this thread has some great info as well:
[Solved] Market Error "Invalid Package File"

120 free.

I have just a few left to install. The one giving me the most trouble is Google maps, and GoSms.

Like I said, some apps are just fine, while some give me problems. Pretty frustrating.

weird then. you might want to try and wipe dalvik cache and cache and re-flash the rom.

also out of curiosity why are you downloading them? you should be using titanium backup to backup all of your apps. once you flash a rom you can use tb to restore your apps. i never had any issues doing it that way.

This has actually been an ongoing problem I have had even with previous versions of the ROM (RLV7). I have wiped Dalvik before every rom flash, and have even wiped since. I wiped just a few hours ago and still no luck with it :(
When I say downloading them, I mean updating, sorry for the confusion. I do use TB after flashing

well like the link i posted earlier mentioned, it could be how the rom is setup. when you see 120mb available as the apps you are updating gets downloaded from the market, cache is being used. and if the cache is setup to be in the same partition as your data then that means there is even less room for the updated apps.

you might want to try another rom. i have not tried that one so i could be wrong, but that sounds like what could be happening.

and when you wipe you need to wipe dalvik cache and cache as well. on a full wipe you need to wipe at least data, dalvik cache, and cache. some peeps here wipe everything but the sd card.

Well, I tried one last thing before bed, and it worked.

I went through and deleted anything that wasn't a necessity and made a little bit of room, and now I'm able to update.

yeah it sounded like you were running out of room on your card. you kight want to think about getting a higher class card and then partition it. it is one of the best things you can do to your phone. right to now my evo has over 160 apps! and they are all on my card.

here is a great card discussion here:
http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/413571-sharin-love-16gb-class-10-card-25-a.html

i'm glad that you figured it out.

also you might want to try some aosp roms like cm7 or deck's. those roms are tiny as they do not have sense bloating up your phone's memory.

Just ordered one!

let me ask, I haven't done this before... But When I get this new card in, and after I partition it, is there an easy way of transferring everything over to it? do I simply just copy and paste?

yep that is what i did with my new card. make sure that you do that after you partition your card or you will erase everything as it formats your card while partitioning.

Would fixing permissions help with the installation error? When I see that kind of error, I just uninstall the app and reinstall via market.
